After reading the reviews I thought it can't be that bad. All the bad reviews are correct. I don't know where to start with my review. One good thing is the staff they are always helpful and pleasant. The management replies are always positive but things will not changed at this hotel for some time.

The price that we paid per room for four nights through a travel website were simply unbelievable. When booking it online, we assumed that the pictures would be misleading and the place wouldn't be anything worth mentioning and actually intended on spending no time in the hotel other than to sleep. We were pleasantly surprised when we got there. The rooms are basic and simple but spotlessly clean. The bathroom was basic but clean and functional too. The safe worked and the tiny step out balcony overlooked the pool which too was far far nicer than we thought it would be . The mini bar in the room was well appointed and surprisingly and delightfully inexpensive as was the cafe/restaurant which did some pretty good food as well.
The hotel is a 15 min walk from the main Patong beach/touristy area which is great because its close enough to walk and far enough to not be bothered by the noise and hustle bustle of the area.
The hotel reception was great when we needed some help to book a quick trip to koh phi-phi and maya bay etc and set us up with an inexpensive and efficient tour company for the trip which was great. The staff was very friendly and helpful throughout our trip and that just added to surprising delight of the place.

I booked the 2-bedroom Ananthara Villa with private pool for the 9th to 11th April 2014 after seeing its spectacular view in the Asiarooms.com.

Prior to arrival, I emailed them for airport transfers, enquiries for halal food and early check-in. When they replied on the airport transfers however, they did not answer my enquiries. Strange but i did not think much of it.

When my parent in laws, wife, daughter and myself arrived at the resort, I realised that many guests were waiting at least two hours to check in & they have pork in their menus. Bingo!

So we waited almost two hours like any guests but one by one the guests asks the reception whether they could leave theirs bags & belongings at the resort lobby and go for lunch outside. We did the same as my 19 mth old daugther is getting restless. After we came back from lunch a few hours later, the room is still not ready yet!

Finally they were ready to check in us and we were being herded to a truck that brought us to our villa. When we arrived at the villa entrance, the area was full of spider webs as if it was not occupied for some time.

This was when the unpleasant experience began. As we entered, I expected to see the villa amidst green hills. I was horrified beyond belief to find a dozen construction men from what seem a newly erected construction beams staring back at us! Not only that, the whole villa is literally broken. Broken tiles in the swimming pool and lightings, the walkway, the wooden outdoor chairs,

The tiles in the swimming pool and lightings, the walkway and the wooden outdoor chairs were in deplorable state. The patio was partially flooded with stagnant water. The lawn, bushes & trees was unkept. Dead leaves all over. And they even dump pail, water hoses, pain brushes etc behind walls on the villa rooms!

The interior of the villa smelt like burning wood. Many of its walls had cracks probably from nearby construction. The decaying wooden sliding doors to the interior is a serious security concern. Some of the parquet floorings was dangerously protruding out. The telephone was unusable and we we given cellphone in case we needed anything. The TV channels werent set properly. Too many hugebuddha paintings & statues in every corners causing stress & trauma to my daughter. Finally, the last straw before we decided to call them to change to other rooms: the aircon in the two rooms is NOT working! The temp was registering 35 deg celcious. Believe you me.

Even we got two rooms for the price we paid for the villa, service was at best satisfactory. The place was in dire need of an overhaul. The hotel was quite a distance from the beach. Not family friendly. Staff were ok but need basic spoken English skills. Not to mention the two hours power trip on the last of our stay. Bad omen!

It was my first time in Phuket, my first time tagging along my in laws and first time getting a villa. It was a devasting experince personally because all the hotels we booked were mostly fantastic and worth coming back.

Word of caution: Stay away from booking the villa. Find another hotel totally.

We stayed at this hotel for 15 days.
Yeah it's a little bit far from the all the activities that patong has to offer.

Rooms are always clean, the staffs are the nicest and most charming people we met in phuket.

I booked a luxury room in the beginning but ended up in a bungalow suite.
we had 2 times air conditioning problem but the personnel made sure that it wouldn't affect our stay and cared for us with a smile.

If I ever come back in patong I will surely book my stay at CBB.

My last word of advice, if you're looking for tranquility and perfect service, CBB is the perfect place to spend your holidays.

Thanks again CBB and hope to see you soon.

Allan and Cristina.

Well, lovely (reasonably quiet)location high on a hill, with a varitey of room some by pool, some with sea view (just!) but most cramped into little corners. Firstly the service for such a busy ugly town was excellent and worthy of a 4 rating. The public areas are nice so it feels quaint - until you enter your room. Wow, these pics ar at least 10 years old. Such a shame becasue as a builder I know how little needs to be done to get the "boutique" title back. I'd say the photographer should work for OK magazine! But you get what you pay for I guess and it was cheap.

Room Tip: mmm, if it says double for £20 and double for £30, they are proabably priced differently for a reaso...

Stayed for two weeks at the end of March.
We arrived and checked in very easily and quickly, had to leave a £50 deposit at reception to cover any sundries we had at the hotel during our stay, the receptionist very smilingly asked for it in Baht or US$ but accepted £ without any problems (I don’t think many Brits stayed there, it was mostly German, French, Australians and the now ever present Eastern Europeans).
We had booked a superior room, which in fact is the standard room type. The room was in a four story block to the side and overlooked the rear of the poolside bungalows and a storm water pond, and from the balcony, away in the distance beyond the main town we could just see the sea, (the balcony also got a very pleasant breeze). The room was of a good size with everything you would expect, (yes as other reports have indicated, some of the fixtures and fittings were old, worn/broken or did not fit that well),
but the room was cleaned and made-up every day.
There is a very well equipped A/C gym. We didn't use it, and instead got our exercise walking everywhere.
The hotel is quite small and does not have a lift, but it does have a great many steps, and this could be a problem for anyone with mobility problems or children.
Breakfast was served in the small restaurant by the side of the pool between 7:00 and 10:30 every morning, cereals, toast, fruit, eggs however you wanted them, fruit juice, tea/coffee, and always three hot options ranging from chicken sausage, ham, sometimes bacon, sometimes baked beans, light curry, noodles, (almost all the hot food contained meat of some sort). The hotel advertises their buffet breakfast for 150 Baht around the town, so you may see different people each morning at breakfast.
The bungalow rooms are close to the tree fringed pool, and when you walk past them you can see that they are quite dark inside, and contain virtually the same furniture and kit as the room we were staying in.
During our stay it appeared the filter for the pool was not working and the water looked quite dirty, but the next day a large portable filter arrived and was installed by the pool, this cleared the water within 24 hours and was then left running. Almost at the end of our holiday several guys arrived to fix the main filter and the portable one was taken away, (can’t say if this worked because we left two days later).
The hotel is situated away from the main nightlife at the back of the town about a 15 minute walk to the beach, or one hour if you go the long way, but several times a day you can catch the hotels beach shuttle, (useful at the end of a long day on the beach or to go to the nightlife in the evening).
There are an amazing amount of places to eat in Patong; some of them within a few minutes stroll from the hotel. We ate at the hotel a couple of times, and although it was very good, it was more western style Thai than traditional Thai.
The staff, and by this I mean all the staff are very helpful, friendly and charming, you can see why it is called the 'land of smiles'.
To sum up, the hotel is not 5* and you should not expect it for the price you pay, but it is of a good standard, reasonably priced with very good staff and facilities, it is a tranquil oasis in a town of mayhem.

Room Tip: If you want to see greenery and the pool, choose a bungalow, if you don't mind overlooking the t...
