“Fantastic Hotel, great holiday destination!”
Reviewed 6 December 2009

My husband and I stayed at the Holiday Inn for 9 night in November 2009, we were originally booked into another hotel and the reviews were not great so we did a lot of research online and saw so much positive feedback on the Holiday Inn we knew we couldnt go wrong and we were not dissapointed.

The staff were all really friendly and helpful and went all out to make our stay as enjoyable as possible.

Location was FANTASTIC, right in the middle of Patong and all the action but as soon as you entered the hotel it was a quiet oasis.

Pools were great and never too busy, we always managed to get a sun lounger no matter what time of the day.

Restuarants were very good with excellent food however a little over priced as the hotel charged a 10% service charge (read gratuitous tip) followed by 7% tax which made the bill more expensive than it should have been, we found some excellent restaurants right around the corner from the hotel with meals being considerably cheaper than the hotel.

Hotel offered an activity program of which we participated in the ice carving demonstration which was really interesting.

The only negative feedback I can give on this hotel was the thai cooking class which was a massive disappointment and very expensive for what we got. The class was advertised as 2-3 hours and ran for only 1hr 40 minutes, my husband and I found the class to be very bland and a waste of time. We gave our feedback to the activites co-ordinator who advised us she would pass the information on, however we are not sure if this was done.

Over all a fantastic hotel with excellent facilities, nice big clean rooms and wonderful staff with a GREAT buffet breakfast each morning.

I would highly reccomend staying here.

Our stay at Holiday Inn Phuket was a mesmerizing experience. Close proximity to Patong Beach and a kids recreation area were the two main reasons which prompted me to go for this hotel and the it stood Tops in both. In fact the swimming pool entrance of the hotel virtually opens at the Patong beach and the Hotel do cares for their little guests.
Rooms although a bit old fashioned have their own charm. We went for two Queen beds and they were quite spacious. The view from our road facing room was not that great, I recommend a pool facing room. Mini bar was not stocked but you can buy stuff from the Hotel convenience shop and stock it.
Pool area of the Hotel is a vibrant place and with an added convenience of hopping in and out between Patong beach and pool is fun. The pool side restaurant is quite good. You can enjoy your welcome drink at the pool.
Breakfast spread is sumptuous with plenty of choices. Loved it thoroughly.
Fitness centre is small but has two treadmills which served my purpose. Aspra spa is a costly affair so went there once only. Nevertheless it was an invigorating experience. There are abundant choices for massage and spa at much lower rates all over Phuket.
Overall loved my stay at holiday inn and will definitely go there for a second time.

My husband and I chose to stay at Holiday Inn Phuket after extensive research and lots of readings. It was definetely a great choice!
We arrived at the hotel at the wrong side (it has two entraces one for the buscaron wing and the other for the main wing). The receptionist walked with us all the way to the reception of the main wing. The only negative thing was that we had to wait for an hour to be able to check-in. The welcomed us with a drink at the bar until we could go to our room. The room is fantastic. Very clean and spacious. Our room overlooked the kids' pool which was fine and not too noisy. The location of the hotel, as everyone has said, is right in the middle of everything. You step out into Patong which is the heart of action in Phuket. The jingceylon mall is right behind the hotel, which turned out to be a very nice walk. We had breakfast only once but it was absolutely wonderful!!!!!!! Delicious!!! Scumptious!!!! Don't miss out on the breakfast! The room had complimentary tea, coffee, sugar etc and a kettle which was very convenient as well as two bottles of water.
To make our experience even more memorable, we spent a couple of hours (it's all the time we had) on our last day swimming in the buscaron wing swimming pool. That pool is one of the most beautiful that I've ever seen. Beautiful with may jaccuzzis and sitting areas within the pool area. Must try!
On the whole, I would definetely stay there again and am already planning for our next trip .... A definete recommendation from my side.

So My husband and I were so confused about where to stay in Phuket. We had been there 4 times before but never with our 2 year old daughter. We finally decided to go with the Holiday inn because of its location (right on Patong) and because it seemed to be a very kid friendly hotel. It eas the best choice ever! My daughter (and my husband) LOVED the slide. The best was the kids area was non -smoking, one of the few places that is in Phulet. The rooms were nice and big. The hotel's location and slide really made it worth it. It is on the pricy side which is what we were concerned about, but we saved so much money that we would have spent on the tuk tuk's that we made up for it. The resturants are ok, the sea breeze, good for drinks and snacks, I just think there are much better places to eat on patong.

We made the mistake of going to Phuket zoo, please don't, its very upsetting to see how they keep the animals. We found safari world in Bangkok so much better plus it worked out cheaper!!

All in all a great trip, am going to stay at the holiday inn next year, so if you still haven't decided and your travelling with young kids, this is the way to go

We've been around Thailand a fair bit with our 4yr old twins, and honestly don't think it gets much better than this! We've struggled to find anything to fault with this hotel - it really made our stay!

Due to some room facility confusion on our part, we were upgraded (for free) to a Kids Suite - it has a room within a room (partitioned, but with about a foot gap at the top, so not quite a separate room), and contains a bunk bed, colourful wallpaper, stuffed toys, drawers, a tv/dvd player, playstation and a selection of games/dvds. Staff put the upper bunk's mattress on the floor for us, so our 2 were safe and cosy! Our suite seemed to be in the family wing (part of the main wing), as we saw a 'silence' sign with a baby picture in the hallway! The rooms were practically silent - no noise from streets, housekeepers, other rooms, etc.

There had obviously been a lot of thought put into rooms to make them family-friendly... 2 shower nozzle holders (one at child height), a safety latch on the door that required 2 hands to operate, double latches on the sliding door (one out of reach for a smaller child) and even 2 peek holes in the doors for looking out (one at child height, one for adults!)

Staff couldn't do enough for us here, and were highly professional, very friendly, and proficient in English. Our two took it in turns to get a bit unwell, and middle of the night phone calls to 'guest services' brought immediate changes of bedlinens, more complimentary waters, whatever we needed, it was never any trouble.

We were impressed with the prices here - happy hour 1/2 price drinks meant just over 100baht cocktails - cheaper than any others we found, and much much tastier! The restaurant by the beach was also reasonable, and although I've read reviews that disagree, we found the quality impeccable... we ate our last 2 meals here because we didn't want to risk our last Phuket meals being anything other than fantastic! Kids under 12 eating for free also made eating at the hotel excellent value.

The pools were brilliant! The kids pool was just the right depth for our 4yr olds... they could touch the bottom, just! They loved the slide, waterfalls, and there was always a selection of inflatable pool toys around. There was a popular toddler pool too, which was more shallow. The main pool was also lovely, and popular with kids too. Far fewer kids in the Bukasorn wing pool though, so this wing would definitely be a better choice for couples without young children!

The kids club was probably the only area we were disappointed with. We found that their schedule of activities wasn't really followed. We tried showing up for a 10:30am activity and were told no, it wasn't happening... no explanation. Kids were just milling around looking bored. So we didn't go back again.

Finally, the location was perfect! Across from the beach, walking distance to the main nightlife area, as well as lots of other bars, restaurants and shops. (Knock off dvds are 50baht here, so much cheaper than the 100baht ones in Bangkok!) The main street of bars is far enough away from the hotel, but not too far if you're after a big night out! We caught a taxi to the airport from a nice taxi driver right out front of the hotel (700baht).

We can't imagine staying anywhere else on our next trip to Phuket, this really is an incredible hotel, and topped every other we've stayed at in Thailand (including other Holiday Inns!) For a family it's just perfect!

This hotel is nestled in the grounds of the Holiday Inn Patong but is a world away from the two major streets in Patong. The Busakorn Wing guests have 3 pools to choose from, as well as the main Holiday Inn pool (which is full of kids). The room we had overlooked a secluded pool and had a little covered balcony. It was massive with a king bed, Free minibar (stocked daily), iPod Bose sound dock (does not charge though), a big plasma, a huge shower and a double sided wardrobe (access from bathroom or bedroom). We had breakfast each day in the restaurant and it was amazing every day. They seem to think of everything, the cereal, juice and pastries were in an air conditioned room (as the restaurant is open air), there was an egg station and plenty of hot food to select from. My wife was unwell one of the days of our stay. The next morning the Assistant Manager turned up with a vase of flowers and offered for the in-house doctor to come and see her too, which we declined but were shocked at the attention to detail. We could not fault any of the staff throughout our 7 day stay, from the in room check in right through to check out. Our only concern was that when we arrived at Phuket airport the place that we were to meet the driver was totally closed up but we found him quite easily just outside the door to the carpark. Admittedly we were the last ones to clear customs from our flight and it was about 9pm by then.

We only stayed 1 night at this resort and absolutely loved it. We stayed in the Busakron side, in a pool view villa which was a very good value. The villa was very clean and nicely furnished. We had a great view of the Busakaron pool. The resort is beautifully laid out and its nice to walk around. We tried the Terrazzo, Italian restaurant which was nice. I am not a fan of Patong, however and would prefer to stay in a quieter place. Nonetheless, I really recommend this resort for families and couples alike, as its beautiful, well-situated (if u like Patong beach) and is of great value!
