Rooms and halls were damp and poorly maintained tv and wifi were useless and the computer in the temporary reception you had to pay for in cash breakfasts was below average selection limited with one of the two toasters out of action most of our stay The most redeeming feature was the hotels location but there are plenty of other hotels in the area

Room Tip: Take plenty of insect repellant standard rooms have no view

Upon arrival to the Petong Merlin Resort you are provided with a cool drink in the lobby area at the check-in desk. Staff are very kind and informative.

The resort has a total of 4 pools, 3 pools for everybody's enjoyment and the 4th pool being for the pool access rooms.

Buffet breakfast is available, located next to the lobby from 6 till 10:30, with a wide selection of fruit, toast and other goodies to choose from.

GREAT location! The resort it's self is across the road from the beach as well as night markets surrounding the entire resort!

The rooms are very spacious, clean and have good air conditioning!
The rooms are cleaned daily.

Would defiantly recommend this resort to anyone, it has a great atmosphere for families, groups, couples and even singles.

My girlfriend and I stayed here for 10 nights in August. The pools were awesome with plenty of room. The buffet breakfast was outstanding. Reception wasn't too bad. But while we were there it was going under renovations (Still are). We thought we would've gotten a decent room but we ended up with an older room on the 3rd floor facing other building, not the pools. We asked change rooms but we're told there wasn't any openings... When booking we were under impression we were getting wifi in our room but it wasn't to be. For our last 2 nights we decided to purchase wifi for 6 hours but we were again disappointed due to having no reception from the router. We got our money back and just used the wifi in the lobby.

I had stayed here a couple of years ago but when I came back this time things had substantially degraded. First off, the entrance and lobby were tore up (see photo)-something they neglected to mention on the hotel website. Next, the temporary lobby was just a function room with a few desks thrown in it. Management decided not to use the A/C and it was unbearably hot in there, even with the standing fans (see photo). This space also housed the business center (in one corner), the book and magazine library (along the wall), tour desk/tour meeting area (entry wall), and the guest lounge (back-to-back chairs) wherever any space was left. The breakfast buffet was mediocre and whenever I wanted to order an egg dish I was next to the maid's cart and trash/dirty laundry repository (see photo). There is no attempt to decorate the place-not even one picture on the long hallways to rooms (see photo). Open displays of used toilets greeted me one day as I walked to my room (see photo). And this one just kills me, a stairway was blocked off with a mattress in order to, I guess, keep guests from going to see the horrors in the floor below (see photo). Our pool access room was the only saving grace (see photo). The room attendants were surly until I started tipping them, and the waitstaff and kitchen people at the buffet never smiled or said a word-every one of them looked like someone had just shot their dog. Whether billed as 4- or 5- star, this hotel is not even close. I have stayed in $40/night guesthouses that were better than this. Don't waste your money. The pictures don't lie.

Room Tip: Avoid this hotel at all costs. If you must stay here, get a pool access room and nothing else.

Firstly, I would like to thanks for staying with us and also the comments.

Secondly, I would like to responds and share your comment with others.

As you might be aware that the hotel was undergo renovation its lobby and the main entrance to the reception area. I agreed that it was hardly to avoid seeing the mess in the construction site. However it looks different when completed. The temporary lobby was set up in the function room with of course not all equipment and furniture but enough to provide and service to meet the guests comforts, convenience and requirement.

The breakfast is prepared for everyone from children up to all guests and from the East to the west. The 2 egg stations are at one corner.

The corridor (hall way) to room is no picture on because there are glasses windows on one side in order to provide lighting and to give more friendly atmosphere.

The used toilet bowls were brought out off the renovated rooms and were behind the hotel building which were being transferred to the factory.

The stairway to the floor below that state in the photo was a staff exit with a “staff only” written the wall, and it is not for guests used nor the fire exit.

The renovation was totally completed. We are now back to normal operation and when you are planning your next visit to Phuket and if possible please pay us a visit then you will see the differ.

Thank you.
