Just returned froma 10 day family holiday at the Avista Hideaway and had a truly fantastic time.

WIthout question this is probably the nicest hotel I have stayed at, from the moment you enter the open fronted reception over looking the sea you think WOW.

It is situated in a great location away from the hustle and bustle of Pa Tong, but close enough to get a tuk tuk or taxi with ease. Tuk Tuk's are exepensive in Phuket but do not pay more than 300baht.

The room was very spacious and clean and i loved the rainfall shower head!!!!

All of the staff at the the hotel are very courteous and will do anything they can to help. At breakfast during my stay there was always a member of the management team present. Ellen in particular was always very pleasent and interested in what you had planned for your stay and whether she could offer any assistance or information.

The food was also excellent. The selection available in the buffet breakfast is unbelievable, you can also order eggs whatever style and omelletes with no problem at all. We also ate at other times in the hotel and everything we tried was very good and resonably priced for a 5 star resort. Even the head chef made regular appearances in the restaurant and came and had a chat to make sure you were happy with your food. Something I had not experienced at other hotels.

The hotel pools are all very clean with the main to pools looking out into the ocean, there is also a gym if you fancy it :/

The kids club was very good the kids were off and entertained for most of the day leaving me to relax. There was also a games room with pool and table tennis.

Most nights we went upto the roof top bar for a cocktail before heading out which has a great view over the ocean and fishing boats. After to speaking to one of the managers he also said there are plans in progress to open up another roof top bar, restaurant and library. So even though a new hotel, they are constantly looking at ways to improve.

I will definately be returning the only problem it won't be soon enough.

Our stay at Avista Hideaway was such an amazing experience. Upon arrival we were so excited when Marck upgraded our room to the pool access suite. The room was soooo beautiful as we had our own cabana and can have fun in the pool, have drinks at the pool bar and watch the sunset. In all rooms you can connect up to five devices on wifi so we went crazy uploading photos on facebook and instagram.

What i particularly love about Avista is the top notch service we received. Everywhere we went, we would receive smiles and greetings from the workers we encountered. During breakfast, the friendly waiters would always come to talk to us and one time while having dinner, the chef came to our table and spoke to us. The buffet breakfast was great but i think it could use a bit more variety. I enjoyed our high tea on the roof top bar as there were stunning views and we were pleased to find out that it was complimentary. Our dinner was delicious!!

I also love the quiet and peacefulness of the resort, its truly a hideaway experience perfect for relaxation. However, there are also shuttle bus services available to go to the patong shopping centre and a private beach if you want to go out and about.

As a family, we went hotel hopping through phuket to explore the different areas of the island. However, i didn't want to leave avista hideaway because i knew no hotel could possibly compare. Overall, it was a very pleasant experience and we will definitely visit again!

Stayed for 7 nights in April. The resort is located 5 mins away from Patong which is great if you want to escape the hustle and bustle but other than the pool, there is not much else to do there. Either side of the hotel grounds is cleared bush land so it's better if you don't look!

Our room was quite nice inside. Only 3 of the 7 soap dispensers worked in the room, hardly 5 star. The balcony and deluxe Jacuzzi suite is of no use whatsoever if it rains. You are confined to your room. There was no iPod docking station as advertised. The air conditioner was a little noisy but that didn't matter as the room was so bright at night due to the window in the bathroom allowing the light from the hall way in, I didn't sleep too much anyway!

The breakfast was good. The staff appeared very disinterested in their job which meant having to constantly go to see them and ask for coffee etc. Great omelettes and choice of pastries. Did not eat the other than for breakfast so can't comment on the rest of the meals.

The cocktails were almost iced water. I think the staff need more training in this department. Afternoon tea is not worth the money. Deep fried snacks and small sandwiches.

The male hotel staff tended to congregate half way up the driveway to the hotel and smoke cigarettes. Not a good look for guests. When you came back to the hotel after about 9 pm, the staff are sat on the foyer steps on their iPhones!

The pools are excellent but the bar staff have no personality whatsoever. This is what makes some resorts, the staff! They did not greet you or attempt to converse with you.

For the price there are much better hotels in Phuket to choose from. Sadly I will not be returning.

Dear Smasher72

Greetings from Avista Hideaway Resort & Spa,

Many thanks for your recent comments and we are sorry your stay with us was not as good as expected.

We do promote that fact that we are located just outside of Patong on the mountain and that the Resort is a perfect place to relax. When designing the Resort one of the main considerations was to have a layout with as many secluded areas as possible to ensure guests are able to enjoy their privacy even when we are full. We do however have various activities available should a guest wish to participate. This includes the games room with Pool Tables, Table Tennis, Fusball and console games as well as rooftop yoga, cooking classes and a full range of tours.

I apologise if the dispensers in your room did not all function correctly and we will ensure the housekeeping department check this more thoroughly in the future. Regarding the balcony and outdoor Jacuzzi in the Deluxe suites we do realise that during the rain this area, although roofed can get wet which may reduce the amount of time used however we do find that most storms only last for a very short time even during the rainy season which should not limit the enjoyment too much. All suites also have a very large bathroom with freestanding bathtub and although this may not have the power jets like the Jacuzzi could be used as an alternative. However I do apologise if your outdoor enjoyment was limited. We will also address the window in the bathroom and at present are fitting light reducing films to the windows to reduce the amount of light which enters the room.

I am sorry you found the complimentary afternoon tea and cocktails not to your liking. I can assure you that all cocktails use full measures of premium alcohol and we do follow all the international standard recipes. The afternoon tea is also meant to provide a light meal and guests are always welcome to have as many servings as desired. We will certainly look at the menu and see if improvements ca be made.

With regards to your comment of the male staff congregating near the entrance of the Resort. I will look into this however I can assure you that any people on the entrance ramp are not hotel employees. We have designated smoking areas for all staff which is located in back of house areas away from the guest areas and any personal items such as phones or ipods are all kept in staff lockers. We do have a number of outside visitors from tour vans, taxis and other services in the evenings and although we do have policies in place for our own staff we do not have total control over these visitors. We will definitely look into this area and ways on how to improve the way visitors congregate at the entrance.

With regards to our own Resort Staff I do apologise if you felt some of the staff were not attentive or hospitable. We do normally have very good comments regarding staff and this is shown again and again in our reviews. The team we have at the Resort are normally extremely friendly and attentive however we will certainly look for ways to improve training and ensure we provide the highest levels of service.

Again thank you for your comments and we will act on as much as we can to ensure we deliver the highest standards.

Warm Regards

This hotel is paradise. Brand new, everything is squeaky clean, the staff are friendly and happy to be here, and the views are breathtaking.

Great for a romantic break. After spending some time in the mayhem that is Patong Beach, we came here to relax and it has been better than expected.

We booked Avista and after reading some negative reviews, expressed our concern to the General Manager. This was mainly in regards to the incompletion of certain facilities. We were offered an upgrade from Club Vista to a Jacuzzi Suite with a handwritten note from the Manager upon arrival. The room was lovely, and without sounding ungrateful...I would have been upset if I had paid the full rate for this room for the following reasons. Even when you shut the bathroom bifold doors the lights from the outside hallway shine through, meaning the room is not dark at night. It is literally like sleeping with the light on all night. We did not get a good nights sleep in the 7 nights of our stay. We even resorted to turning off the lights outside, but unfortunately within 10 minutes they would be turned back on. The other thing that absolutely baffled me....there is NO power outlet in the bathroom for the hair dryer, even though a dryer was provided. There is only an outlet for a shaver. I had to plug the dryer into the outlet in the wardrobe in the hallway! I have never ever stayed in a hotel that has not had this option, especially one that is claiming to be a 5 star hotel. The outside area is lovely, but unfortunately if it rains (as it did a number of days) you can't sit outside as the shades are not waterproof and all the chairs were wet. We couldnt use the upstairs mezzanine area as the day beds were soaked. The jacuzzi did have a little roof, but it took an hour to fill up to the level of the jets. We were offered some of the upgrades included in the room such as free sunset cocktail (couldnt taste the alcohol hehe) and afternoon tea, but not others such as 2 items of clothes cleaning a day and massage. This was not clearly explained upon check in and queried when we got the bill upon check out.

The location is very easy to find and well sign posted. We were grateful to have a scooter so we could come and go as we pleased and not be reliant on the shuttle or pay 200 tbht each way. There is something dodgy going on with the taxi service, we were told directly by a local that it is the mafia. Whether the hotel is involved I cannot comment. We were quoted 1500 tbht by Avista but organised our own airport travel for 1000 tbht. He had to sign a special receipt and show them so 'he didn't get into trouble'.

We discussed our concerns with Ellen when she approached us at breakfast, which she duly noted. Breakfast was average. We decided not to eat at the hotel for other meals on that basis. I found all of the staff to be very friendly and helpful. It didn't concern us walking up the steep slope or steps. If you don't like exercise I wouldn't recommend this, although you can wait for a buggy. We found it quicker just to walk.

Would I return? No probably not. It was nice but not enough to compel me to return. The initial impression is lovely, if you scratch the surface, it is not a 5 star hotel. Don't bother to visit in the rainy season, as there is nowhere to go within the complex unless you want to sit in your room and try to watch tv (which has bad reception and few channels) and the iPod docking stations had not arrived, so you can't listen to music.

I stayed for 3 weeks in Patong at 3 different hotels and Avista was the most I looked forward to but enjoyed the least.

Dear Stebbenator,

Greetings from Avista Hideaway Resort & Spa.

Thank you for taking the time to leave your comments and we are sorry we did not meet all your expectations. I would like to address some of the points raised.

Regarding the Jacuzzi Suites and the small window in the bathroom we are now fitting a blackout film to these areas which will cut out the light to ensure the entire room is dark.

The outlet in the bathroom is a special socket designed for shavers only as a safety precaution. Due to the fact it may be dangerous for guests to use hair dryers in areas with so much water a standard electrical outlet was not fitted in this area. The dryer does work in any of the sockets in the room including at the desk area and seating area. We will also be adding desk mirrors in the future which will also help guests using the hair dryer outside the bathroom.

The upstairs area in the Jacuzzi suites does have a canopy over the main seating area however we do appreciate that when there are heavy rain showers the entire area can get wet. We do feel though that in Thailand we are lucky enough to have more sunshine than rain and rather than close the upstairs areas with roofing we felt it better to leave them open for guests to really enjoy the area. We apologise if you did not receive all the benefits of the Jacuzzi suite and we will certainly look into the reason why this error occurred.

With regards to the Taxi service this is an ongoing issue accross the entire island of Phuket and there are lots of news articles on the subject. The main issue is that the local Taxis control their territory and pricing very strongly and do not allow other taxis to work in their areas. The hotel has no control over the outside taxis or their pricing. What we do offer is our own limo service which is part of the hotel. The reason the pricing is different is that we have top quaity cars with full insurance and take full responsibility should anything happen when using our service. If guests do decide to use an outside taxi then this is perfectly fine however we do like to point out that some of these vehicles may not be operating totally within the law and may or may not be properly insured. Therefore we cannot guarantee or recommend outside services unless we are 100% sure. Our guests safety and comfort take full priority. I do agree with you that any traveler coming to Phuket would find renting a car or motorbike a much cheaper and convenient option especially if planning to travel around the island a lot. A motorbike costs around 200 Baht for the entire day and a car ranges from 1000 - 3000 Baht per day depending on model.

Like most other Resorts the rainy season does have an impact on the daily activities as most properties are designed to make the most of the fantastic weather we get for the majority of the year. The rainy season is normally very short and when it does rain this only usually lasts for an hour before returning to sunshine. We do have a number of facilities for guests in the Resort which includes a games room, gym, full library and complimentary DVD library. We have also had our new TV system installed which offers over 30 channels of entertainment mostly in English with HBO & Star Movies, 3 sports channels, 3 news channels and a number of variety channels. We do also have Ipod docking stations available on request.

We do thank you for your comments and we will certainly look at ways we can improve based on your feedback. I do hope you will visit us again and can assure you we will always endeavor to make your stay as enjoyable as possible.

Warm Regards

This resort is located on top of a hill..and the views are gorgeous especially at the lobby area and the club rooms. When we first arrived at the resort, we were greeted with warm smiles and were each given a complimentary drink and fruit cocktails with cold towels. This sets the benchmark of our very wonderful stay.

What makes this resort a gem is the level of service standard that was provided to each of their guests. Not only did they provide unsurpass customer service to their guests but their level of dedication is impresive.Even though I've booked this hotel only 2 days prior to my departure date, their reservation manager Mr Juthamard had been very patient and helpful in replying to my emails promptly and managed to secure me a Club Vista room at a very good rate with airport transfers.

The room which we got was gorgeous and huge with a private verenda that has direct pool access. There is a complimentary pillow selection and an oil burner upon request to ensure a good night sleep. They have a total of 3 swimming pools, a gym, library, games room and even a doctor room.

Breakfast buffet was extensive...with a variety of selection.

There is a also a free shuttle bus to patong provided by the resort so transport was never an issue despite its location.

I have to mention that Mr Akarsh is a true asset to the resort..he managed to provide a birthday cake with two roses in our room upon my husband request to celebrate my birthday.A splendid surprise indeed.

This is by far the best resort ive stayed in Phuket.it exceeded my expectations in every aspects. You wud nt be disappointed..gorgeous property with an even outstanding service..what more could u asked for.
