Stayed here on honeymoon from November 5th to 14th, staying in a deluxe pool access room, and had the most amazing holiday.

Location - Not in the centre of Patong town (which is a good thing!) but literally a 10 min walk to get to the shops/bars/restaurants. If you want to go down to the beachfront then you're best to take a tuk-tuk. All tuk-tuks cost 200 Baht for anywhere in Patong town (about €5) no matter the number of passengers - so make sure you don't pay any more! There are loads of tuk-tuks around so we always caught one home each evening - which meant we didn't have to walk up the huge hill to reception!!

Staff - The staff were just amazing. We spent a lot of our time around the pool area and the service provided by Bang and the guys was top notch. They were very friendly and regularly came round to check if we had enough drinks. The cost of drinks / food was comparable to any european hotel so don't expect Thai prices. The quality of the food was, in our opinion, exceptional.

Room - The room was amazing!! I suffer from a bad back so am always a bit weary of hotel beds but I have to say that the bed/mattress was one of the best i've ever slept on. It was quite firm but not overly so (again, in my opinion). The A/C was one of the best ever and kept the room cold! The shower was just fabulous. We had room service a number of times for breakfast / lunch and again, the prices for this would be very comparable to european hotels (not cheap) but the quality of the food, the speed at which it came and the friendliness of the staff that delivered was first rate. The cleanliness of the room was first rate too.

Just to be clear - am not complaining at all about the price of the food / drinks in hotel - you have a choice to avail of this or not. And we wanted too! The price of food/drink in the town was a lot cheaper and plentiful. We ate out every night bar one and we didn't have one bad meal or experience. Two starters, two mains, two fried rice dishes, 3/4 beers each and we paid around 1,000 Baht (€25 euro). You can eat out a lot cheaper than this (and a lot more expensive) but this is what we had budgeted. The one night we ate at the hotel was the outdoor meal by the pool and this was brilliant.

Just a comment on the sunbeds around the pool area. As a rule, i don't like to use these as they hurt my back but these were the comfiest sunbeds I have ever used! They're made from wicker (not plastic) and were great.

We didn't use the spa or make it to breakfast during our stay so can't comment on these. Can't comment on the gym or creche either but these were used whilst we were there by other guests. We ate in the hotel restaurant on our last day after checking out and the quality of the food and speed at which it was served was superb.

We can't see how anyone can fault the hotel (especially now with Google Maps where you can check out the location of the hotel and surrounding area). We did witness some rudeness towards members of staff by some guests which was uncalled for. We found though that if you're polite and courteous to the staff then that's how they'll be with you. Simple really.

Transfers to/from airport. We arranged in advance of arriving for the hotel to send a car for us. This was at a charge of 1,000 baht (€25) for one way and was worth every penny. This was our first time to Thailand and we'd no way of directing any airport taxi to the Senses Resort. Mr Ao (pronounced "O") collected us from the airport and dropped us back there at the end of our stay and he was great. He offered to take us on some trips - which we'll take him up on next time - we were after 9 days of lying by the pool!! We did do one trip to Phi Phi island and we would recommend that trip. Cost in the brochure is 3,200 Baht per adult but by booking through the trip desk at the hotel, we got this for 2,700 Baht each. A great day out which included lunch and as much soft drink/water as you could drink!

One general comment on changing money. Use any of the money changer booths in Patong as the rate you get from them is probably the best. In Ireland, the exchange rate is around 40:1. Phuket airport was 40:1 and the money changes in Patong was 42:1 (42 Baht for €1). Be very careful of changing money in Phuket airport as I was short changed when changing some money there...

We will definitely be returning here again and hope to stay longer than 9 nights next time! We can't recommend this hotel highly enough.

Room Tip: The pool access room is a must

What a hidden gem. To unwind in this peaceful and tranquil spa was by far one of the best spa,s I have had the pleasure of experiencing. The staff at the spa made you feel relaxed and comfortable as soon as you stepped into the door. And the treatments they suggested was exactly what I needed to make my holiday that much more relaxing.

Stayed late October 2013. Absolutely enjoyed the place. Excellent pool area and extended decking area overlooking Patong. Room was excellent, good size, nice outside balcony area. I was on the level of the pool and had views - I would steer away from the lower floors. The best thing about this place was the staff - they have nailed it. They are just so friendly and helpful and really want to do a great job.

It is well located approx 10 minutes (if that) easy walk to Jungceylon, mainly a downhill walk. I got transport on the way back but the walk is quite manageable. WIFI was only so so speed for me but I was told it is to be upgraded to a faster service.

One area I would mark it down a little was breakfast - it closes at 10 which is a bit early. Also, apart from the excellent egg station, there is scope to add more choices. You will still have a nice breakfast in a nice setting with really excellent staff but I have been to better buffets in Patong. On the other hand they offer cappuccinos and lattes as part of breakfast - and of reasonable quality, which is a real bonus.

This is one of those places you will plan to return to.

Room Tip: I would choose a room on the pool level or higher. But maybe not too high as I understand (but did...

A lot of the rooms are on 2 lower levels, no lifts going down. We booked here because of the good reviews but were very disappointed. Also, one of the rooms was smelling of cigarette smoke and the staff did nothing to change our rooms. It's a 15 mins walk to Central part of town. While they do have a shuttle, you must book much in advance. They have a nice swimming pool though. ..

Breakfast spread is mediocre and one of the waiters was impolite. I wouldn't recommend staying here. There are far better places to have a good stay...

The staff here are outstanding always helpful and attentive. A couple of standouts are the concierge Tony and the trainee Pro who were more than helpful and Google, Kate and Palmy were all fantastic. the rooms are a good size with excellent views and amenities and are spotless's clean a great job done by the room staff. Kate from the restaurant organised for my wife to have a one on one cooking session with the hotel chef to learn how to make her favourite dish - a spicy pomelo salad, all of the staff on that morning made it a special experience for her. I highly recommend this resort.

My partner and I had an excellent week long stay at this resort. It was our first trip to Phuket, and we can't wait to return to this property. The hotel arranged a pick up for us from the airport, which was waiting for us as we exited the airport. Our check in was relaxing- the hotel staff took care of the details as we lounged on sofas and sipped a refreshing welcome drink. We initially had a deluxe ocean view room, but upgraded to a pool access room for a nominal price. The hotel pool is amazing and includes a swim up bar with excellent views of the Patong area. The pool attendant (Mike) was extremely proactive and helpful. Breakfast was sufficient, and we enjoyed the fresh made to order eggs every day. Don, who was one of our daily servers was extremely hospitable. Our visit coincided with my birthday, and the hotel surprised me with a cake and drinks at their lounge which has live music most nights. Although the hotel has a shuttle to Patong beach, we enjoyed walking back and forth and preferred to be a little removed from the craziness of Bangla road. It is a short walk to the shopping and the hotel has an on site tour operator for local attractions. Perhaps the icing on the cake was the hotel manager personally seeing us off when we left for the airport. We will certainly return to this property!

Room Tip: The pool access rooms are worth the extra money if you like to lounge around the pool all day.

Nicely tucked away on a hilltop looking over Patong. The rooms are clean and everything looks nice and new. I stayed in the pool access room, which was very spacious and neat. Only downside was the lack of a bathtub. The breakfast was decent but I have to say the buffet food was disappointing. If you're staying at Senses Resort, take a walk down to the hill and turn right. You will find a nice little local, retro cafe, its a dark brown, wooden shack. Sorry I can't remember the name. Our account manager, Kan was a great host and made sure all our activities were organized and on time. Great holiday!

Room Tip: go for the pool access rooms!
