Description: We are pleased to announce that, on the 2nd October 2016, we relocated 'Halfway Inn' to the grounds of The Hill Resort, Patong, which is 450 metres past Christin Massage on the left hand side of the road heading South towards Karon, directly opposite PS Hill Resort. To avoid confusion the new place will be known as 'Halfway Inn - The Hill Resort' on popular social media. The old place will still serve bar snacks and drinks and is known as 'Halfway Inn Bar'. The indoor covered restaurant has a very traditional Thai theme with 10 individual 6 seater salas (bamboo huts) for 60 diners, 12 standard tables providing seating for 48 customers, and a central 'Bamboo Bar' with stools for around 20 punters. There is also a large sports bar area with 2 pool tables, 2 large screen TV's, a 2 metre wide projector screen and enough space for a 5 piece live band. Outside there are a further 3 salas with seating for 18 customers and what will be a covered BBQ sala. There is spacious off-road parking for up to 5 cars (or minibuses) and 30 motorbikes and easy access North (towards Phuket Town and Kamala) or South (towards Karon, Kata, Chalong and Rawai). There is also an access ramp for disabled customers at The Hill Resort reception steps (although, admittedly, it needs some improvement). Customers, old and new, will welcome the fact that we have paid attention to the few negative reviews we have received on TripAdvisor (and constructive criticism from our regulars). There is now much more space between different dining groups, excellent washroom facilities, and (optional) segregation between the restaurant and sports bar areas (in one half you can enjoy what games are going on while dining and listening to the music whereas the other will be more discrete). There are also comfortable rooms available at The Hill Resort, which is currently being renovated, bookings can be made online or in person. Bed and Breakfast prices are reasonable, the pool and rainforest surroundings are very pleasant, with a swim up bar, jacuzzi pool and kids pool. Some of the rooms on the upper levels have views over Patong Bay. Nan is enthused by the fact that can now create her mouth-watering dishes from a very large, modern kitchen with stainless steel appliances, the size of our existing restaurant / bar area in Soi Kepsap. We are both excited by the opportunities this new property offers and we trust that all our customers, old and new, will enjoy their visit here.

“Awesome food for a bar!!!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 June 2014

Everyone here raves of the service, beer and Dave and his dear wife of course.

We popped by for lunch and Dave approached us and told us about his wife, his life, very openly. He even mentioned about his bar and how he had set it up with his wife.

We were a little skeptical about the food, but I have to say, Dave changed my thoughts before the food came. And I do have to say, it's super duper awesome.

Don't doubt a bar coming up with good authentic Thai food. Seriously, I was very shocked myself.

The Phad Thai came with a fresh catch of squid and prawns which were so so so really fresh, they weren't the chewy kind of meat, but the soft kind which was really perfect. Phad Thai may seem really easy to cook but this was well done as it takes a lot of effort to cook up a proper Phad Thai, was comparable to the one I had in a restaurant - even better if I could say.

Their green curry chicken was well cooked with a good blend of spice with coconut. Thick and rich, not watered down at all. Comes with a great and generous portion of chicken!

Do visit halfway inn while you're in Phuket. Dave really puts in a lot of effort in getting to know even his new customers, I really wonder how he does it! It's amazing!!!! Whether for beer, soccer or food, it works all ways. Especially the food :D

“If you're looking for authentic thai food this place is not for you”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 June 2014

My girlfriend and I checked this place out after reading the many good reviews. Unfortunately it did not live up to our expectations. The Thai served is Western style Thai and definitely not the place to go if you're after authentic Thai flavours.

I am surprised that you were disappointed with your meal when you visited. It was prepared personally by my wife, Nan, and we have had dozens of comments on how good her food is. Nan was born just North of Bangkok and her individual style, learnt from her Aunt after her mother passed away, is very definitely as authentic as you can get. Definitely NOT Western!

You may be interested to know that there are many regional variations as to how Thai food is prepared such as Northern (more of a Chinese and Laotian influence), Southern (which has Malaysian flavour), Isaan (which is more Cambodian) and an even more different style in the centre of the country.

If you want to try what you may think of as 'Authentic' Thai, eat from one of the many mobile open air kitchens dotted around Patong, especially near Banzaan market. at the back of Jungceylon, it will also be cheaper with extra protein from the flies.

thanks for your review, interesting, but many of our satisfied customers would disagree with your assessment.

“Good little ozzie bar ”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 June 2014 via mobile

Went here as it was listed at No1 in patong at the time. Not a bad little place. Selection of thai and western food. Reasonable price. Had the Saturday night NRL and Union on so I was happy. Very very nice and sweet staff. Very Australian which is good if you need to find someone to watch the footy with in a small bar environment.

“Great place. Mark Perth”

I spent 16 days in Patong in May and found the Halfway Inn a great place to socialize. The staff led by Dave and Nan were attentive and always had a smile. The food is delicious and the beer cold. If you after a place with friendly staff and great food then pay the Halfway Inn a visit.

“Great little place”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 June 2014

We picked Halfway based on previous reviews and were not disappointed. The atmosphere is really chill, food is fantastic and prices are excellent for Patong. Nice tvs are on the walls to watch sport and there is even a buffet area. The owner was so kind and even came to our table to have a conversation. Best place in all of Thailand in my opinion.
