“Nice and quiet hotel”
Reviewed 31 October 2010

Good place for family to stay. Small hotel, rooms very nice.
Only 15 min walk to Patong Beach (or 3min by Taxi). Hotel
pools were perfect for relaxing and swimming.

Place is clean but not new any more. Breakfast was good but
not very versatile. Food in restaurant average and not the cheapest
one.

This hotel is quite small, which if you like the boutique feel as I do, is a good thing. It has a good view if you get the right rooms and when we were there it was nice and quiet. The staff are also quite friendly. The restaurant and pool has a good view over Patong beach.

The rooms, which were probably great when first built, are now starting to look a bit run down. We had a pool access room, which isn't strictly pool access (you don't step in to the pool from your room), but it was right beside the pool which was still good. Our toilet blocked 3 times in 5 days, requiring someone to come and fix it every time. The shower drain also blocked and the shower overflowed (the same man came back with his plunger - I think it gets regular use). Most annoyingly, we had intermittent hot water. Most nights it wasn't hot at all, which, after a day at the beach isn't all that great. When I rang reception she said "there hasn't been enough sun so water is cold"...they didn't seem overly worried. You shouldn't have to deal with blocked drains and cold showers in a "four star" hotel.

Housekeeping and cleanliness levels also aren't that great. The shower looked dirty when we arrived and it didn't improve over the 5 days. A flower they had in there on the first day stayed there the whole time. They only changed the sheets twice and they never replaced toiletries. It just didn't feel overly clean and I'm not usually fussy with that stuff. The bed is very hard (but that's an Asian thing).

Having said that, overall it wasn't a bad experience but I wouldn't stay there again if I found myself in Patong. Breakfast and dinner in the restaurant were good and I enjoyed being above Patong and away from the mayhem. It is an easy walk down but you'll need a tuk tuk back up (they'll always quote 200 baht but you can easily get them down to 130/140). If you want to stay in the thick of things this isn't for you.

We just came back from Phuket where we stayed for 8 nights. It was our 3rd time on Phuket and we always try a new hotel. I booked it because I really like boutique hotels (they are always unique and give you this special feel) and I never regreted it despite some bad reviews I read on the Internet!! I really loved the hotel's location as it was far from the crowd and yet not so far from all the shopping and entertainment places. I absolutely loved the swimming pool, took a swim almost every night, it glows beautifully at night and it has three levels, you can see all the lights of Patong while taking a swim or soaking in the jacuzzi. The rooms are huge, which was one of the reasons we booked the hotel, we love our big space! We booked for 3 nights and then asked them if we could extend it for another 5 nights, they said yes and upgraded us to a Junior Suite on the 2nd floor, which was even better than the room we had before and it had a nice balcony with a fabulous view!

We had one dinner in their restaurant which was one of the best meals we had in a week, a bit pricy though! The restaurant is very romantic with a stunning night view, and nice live piano music. The breakfast could be better, nothing fancy, but that didn't really bother us as long as we had our nice room and gorgeous swimming pool.

We discovered a private beach called Paradise beach 5 mins from the hotel on a motorbike. The place is absolutely lovely, no waves or anything like that, the water is so clear and blue, indeed like a Paradise. Great for snorkeling too. We went there almost every day!

I must say we've stayed in various hotels before, both good and not so good, but Baan Yin Dee has got this special Thai feel and we really enjoyed every minute there!

Oh, and I forgot to mention that I really liked their shower heads, however the first room had this open plan toilet and shower. Good for romantic couples but I guess not so good for families. The Junior Suite that we moved in later, had some kind of a door in the toilet, so it was more private there.

We stayed here for 4 nights, we enjoyed the stay a lot. The Resort is quite far from the center on a hill that overlook Patong, we were glad that it was not close to Patong crazy beach, because we wanted to have calmness and not to hear the crazy discotheque of Patong. If you are used to Walk a lot, you can walk down to the center come back up to the hotel without any problem, but if you do not want to walk the Hotel offer free on time rides to Patong but you have to come back with a Tuk Tuk or Taxi that will cost 200 Baht.
The Room was very clean, big, cozy and comfortable. Our room had a balcony that has spectacular view over Patong. Breakfast is Tasty they Have European type of Breakfast and Thai Breakfast.
The swimming pool is Great and has a very nice view.

If the hustle and bustle of Patong is your kind of thing then this is not the place for you! The staff here are friendly and helpful without bein over bearing. Perhaps be use it's the raining season but the place is pleasantly quiet and I can enjoy my meals without the constant drone of conversations in the background.

One point to remember, take a cab up to the hotel from Patong. I made the mistake of hiking up. The distance isn't far. But the incline can be murder!

The room is very nice with the pool just a step outside the door, the hotel is overlooking the whole of Patong Beach which is wonderful especially at night. The food is a fusion of western and Thai with a handsome Grand Piano player Charlie. The service is also to satisfaction with 24 hour room service.

We stayed at Baan Yin Dee for 1 week during our honeymoon, loved every single minute of it! To start, it is an uphill ride from Patong beach, so you get the beautiful view but without the noise, especially at night, the view from the restaurant was just breathtaking.

We booked our pool access room as a 'secret deal' from woif.com, as we mentioned in the booking it was our honeymoon, the room was made up with beautiful flowers and a welcome fruit basket. It was right next to the pool, which we loved it. You could simply walking out of the front porch and jump right into it. The room was spacious, clean and with a huge bathroom. The bed was a tad on the hard side, which we later found out most of the hotels in Thailand are.

Buffet breakfast was the best we've had, because it's an order-to-cook buffet. It was absolutely delicious, and the staff are always ready to make our stay pleasant and comfortable.

Baan Yin Dee has just become another reason we can't wait to visit Phuket again.
