“Average hotel with friendly staff!”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 February 2014

This hotel has a good location not very far from the centre of Patong. However, the level of noise that you can hear in the rooms is somewhat disturbing. We had a room on the first floor (without window - but this was known at the time of booking) and every night we could hear the noises from the hotel lobby which is more like a big open garage. The source of these noises is quite obvious since the hotel lobby is open air with no actual doors to outside. From the shower we could smell bad odours every time unless we closed the shower tap with towels. Towels were not clean - they were washed but they still had stains as did our bed linen!

On the bright side, the staff were very very friendly and helped us out even when our tour van did not show up. Furniture in the rooms is quite new and modern! Aircondition works perfectly! Breakfast is a compulsary omelette with toast - even though I must say that it was quite good!

Room Tip: Do choose a room from level 3 upwards! Travellers staying at the same hotel did not hear as many no...

The staff was very good ,very friendly and service minded, best value for the amount that we spent. The location of the hotel was really good,5 mins walking distance from jungceylon.
Its the only place where i did not have to submit my passport to rent a bike. The rooms are big and the bed is comfortable.
Overall a great stay and felt very welcoming.

Room Tip: Deluxe rooms are really good with balcony

More than six weeks in advance of our arrival I booked a stay with the Cocoon Patong through Hotwire. They took the money a month in advance of the stay and I got emails as late as a few days before arrival confirming my booking (and a long bla bla about my savings)..Finally arrived after a very long and tiresome journey alone with two small children and guess what?..The hotel had sold our room to somebody else.

Tried to get some sort of explanation that could make sense but all I was able to get was that the Hotel claimed that Hotwire did not pay for my stay and other Hotwire guests, so the Hotel had made a decision no longer to honor Hotwire bookings.

Well then why not tell Hotwire or me? Manager claimed he had tried to contact them several times without any luck.

Very disappointing to be the victim of two companies who both wash their hands and blame the other part. Called Hotwire in the US and they then booked us at a more expensive and a lot less attractive location, which entailed a two hour drive through some of the worst traffic I have seen. Cannot recommend Phuket in the high season, its simply too crowded and overrun.

Both children passed out in the car during the long drive there. Finally arrived there late at night (got to Phuket at 2 pm). No elevator and the room on the 3rd floor. No staff to help with luggage and there I was having to leave one kid in the car with the cab driver while running up with the other. Just not at all what we had hoped for and despite several emails and calls to Hotwire. I was unable to get an explanation about what went wrong.

The manager did try and help us find a taxi but you also got the feeling that he had sold the room to someone that was willing to pay a higher price (probably a desperate walk-up) which we now have become as we could not stay in the new location provided by Hotwire.

All around disappointing and even more that no on has the guts to take some responsability for the situation, the hassle and all the extra costs. Can say for sure this was my last time doing business with Hotwire and/or the Cocoon Patong.

Never made it to the room, so cannot really say anything except its in an area which is the most messy I have seen. Road works everywhere and very very noisy and a lot of traffic..

Two people that looked like staff at the reception denied to be employees when I asked them but still answered the phone when calls came in?? Helpful guests? I doubt it. Something was off here and seemed very wrong.

The manager was very helpful and fluent in English. The modern furnished room was very neat and clean! The air conditioner cooled the room off in now time and did not take all day as with the other hotels.

Room Tip: All the rooms are neat and you are away from the noisy area of Patong.

The hotel is new hence the rooms are very neat and clean. Close to the Patong beach and bike are available for rent with a standard 200 Baht for a decent looking bike & 40 Baht for 1 bottle of fuel. Breakfast is not so great, as they just give us some omelet/scrambled eggs with some bread and not so great coffee/tea.
One more disappointing thing is, very few rooms have windows. Please mention while booking the room about your preference for windows/balcony. Most of the rooms are completely closed.

Room Tip: Average place to stay without much expectation of spa and fitness center

we booked 2 rooms at this hotel for 4 night

Positives: 1 New hotel with very nice room, although they dont have windows which makes it a bit difficult to tell the time of day.
2. Good staff. The hotel manager was happy to drop us off at beaches and recommended a lot of good places to dine. The cleaners were fantastic...the rooms were spotless no matter how much mess we made. They also arranged a tour for us at a pretty competitive price.
3. Excellent location. Close to bangla road, patong beach and plenty of night markets.
4. Pretty cheap accomodation.

Negatives:
1. They called us down for breakfast on the first morning. It was pretty pricey (not included in the accomodation pricing) and not so great. Don't make the mistake!
2. We needed to check in really late and put that on the special request forms when we booked the accomodation. However they don't get the information on the special request forms and since we didnt check in till 1am the next day, they had given one of our rooms to someone else. They arranged for us to stay at the hotel next door, Hollywood Inn (also a really lovely hotel) at no extra cost for a night until a room was available.

overall: Good service, excellent location, very clean and new hotel....just don't have breakfast there!

Booked this hotel for our one night stay in Phuket coming back from Koh Phi Phi as it looked lovely and location seemed pretty good. On arriving at the hotel, after specifically requesting a double bed, we were questioned by a guy who I assume was the manager (not a Thai national). We are a same-sex couple. He said he'd reserved us a twin room and if we wanted a double room we'd have to go the hotel next door (Lavender). He later tried to justify that he wasn't very sure if we had *meant* to request a double room, as we were both men. He also tried to suggest *he* had arranged for us to stay there, which turned out to be untrue as the lady at reception had to find and book a room when he walked us round to this hotel. Lavender Hotel looked *far* nicer than the Cocoon. He then proceeded to tell us that he had paid for the room and was only going to charge us the same price as a room at his hotel (1,800 baht - ~£36). We later found out rooms at this hotel are only 1,300 baht (~£26). NOT happy, would NOT recommend this hotel and will NOT be booking again.

Room Tip: How to choose a good room at this hotel = don't book one.
