“Very nice stay”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 November 2008

My friend and I booked two Spa Wing Junior Suite for 7 nights.

Location: Very nice and not too far from the beach.
Staff: Very friendly and helpful.
Breakfast, found it not really great but neither really bad.
Pool: Not big, but ok and with a pool bar.

This will be my first priority for my next Phuket holiday.

What a disgraceful, nasty place. I booked through websawadee, who showed the most beautiful pictures. When I got there the staff were not only rude but snotty, which already should say much as Thai people generally are of the friendliest in the world.

I was offered a room that I am sure used to be staff quarters and were converted to guest rooms. It resembled a row of stables all accessible from an outside door. The interior was shabby, old, run-down, the rooms were small and the toilet had excrement all over it.

The location of the hotel for the prices they charge is also way over the top. You are assured of a good supply of mosquitos just to cheer up your holiday. In short, it does not live up to other 2/3 star hotels by a long shot. Generally hotels in Phuket in this price range offer quite large rooms with decent beds, friendly staff and a good location. There is no airconditioning in the main areas so you end up with a sweaty poorly prepared breakfast served by a snotty hotel compliment.

Don't go there. Ever. An even bigger problem is that once you book over the internet, it is impossible to get back your money. Make sure that you don't get duped into a poor hotel with nice pictures because once you are there you are locked in. I think their market is to sell packages to the Eastern block so the hotel is full of el-cheapo guests while they charge exhorbitant rates over the internet.

We have just returned from phuket and really enjoyed staying at our hotel. We booked the deluxe room which at A$120-A$130 per night was pretty good. Those travelling on a budget will be happy to know that this hotel also offers small standard rooms at about A$40 per night which has the basics of a bed, TV, aircon and bathroom. Ideal for groups of people where some may prefer the deluxe rooms with pool view and those that prefer the cheaper rooms but all get to stay in one hotel.

Breakfast was included. Nothing fancy but certainly no complaints.

The pool has a bar you can swim up to with cocktails at A$10 and happy hour at 4pm - buy one get one free!!

The hotel is located off the main street (Pee Road) so away from all the busy traffic. 10 minutes away is Patong beach on Beach Road and you will find Bangla Road (for bars/clubs) about a 15 min walk away. Taxi's (or Tut Tut's as known in Phuket) should only cost approx 100 THB to 150 THB to and from the hotel (about A$5 - A$7).

Taking a walk down Pee road you will pass many shops for shopping and food. worth exploring the different stalls for food as can be very tasty and very cheap.

Overall, loved our stay, loved the loved the location and would definitely stay there again.

Nice resort, just not great.

We stayed for 10 nights in the spa wing and our room had a private plunge pool (lovely).

The room was nice and serviced daily and on request sprayed on an evening for mozzies.

The main pool in the spa wing was FILTHY! The water was HOT, like a bath. I understand the weather is very warm there, but they should invest in something to cool the water down and someone to clean it MUCH more often.

The breakfasts were included and quite nice. We only ate once in the restaurant for dinner as it was quite pricey and not a great selection.

We had a massage in the spa which was nice, but only gave us 30 mins when it should have been 45mins and then refused to accept that they needed to refund us for 15mins.

Service was not great, staff very unfriendly and unhelpful bar a select few who went out of there way to help us.

The resort was in a great location, close enough to walk to town, but far enough away that to not hear or be bothered by anything.

All in all an average hotel, that I wouldn't go back to.

Reviewer: Soo Yinn, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
This was my first time to Phuket. I choosed Deevana Patong Resort after viewing the reviews at tripadvisor.com. Booked online in July 2008, 4 days 3 nights, only 3825 baths. My husband and I stayed in Garden Wing Standard Room. The pool is lovely. Infact there is one more great pool at Spa Wing.
The moment we reached Phuket International Airport, the driver was already there, waiting for us. Deevana gave us free transfer from airport to the hotel.
We were served with a special welcoming drink while waiting for room checked in. The staffs are friendly and helpful. We got a standard room, which is clean and comfortable. But the problem is, there is no shelter along the path towards the rooms. We got wet while walked back to the room because of the rain during our first day stay in Deevana. Luckily the weather of the following days were fine.
Although the hotel is not beside the beach, but it only took us 5 to 10 minutes walked to the beach. Infact, we enjoyed walking along the road, looking at shops and goods before reaching the beach.
We rented a tuk-tuk outside the hotel, going to beaches, Chalong temple, cashew nut factory, pearl farm, Promthep cape, only paying 600 baths.
We will definately go back to Deevana next time!

We booked this hotel primarily because of the location and price and were very pleasantly surprised with the quality. Our room was on the second floor overlooking the pool and the room itself was quite simple but perfect for our needs as we spent most of time touring the town and also by moped, other parts of the island. The hotel staff were very helpful in arranging for a moped hire. The breakfast was good. The pool was very nice and provided a perfect place to relax after the beach and touring. I would recommend this hotel especially if you have a room overlooking the pool. We would definitely stay here again.

It is too late to write a review I know, but I always postponed writing something about that experience that ruined 2 days of our holidays.
We have booked directly to get a better service since we are working in the hotel business as well.
We were five friends travelling all together to Bangkok for the first 3 days of our holidays, then Koh Samui for 7 days and end of the trip at Phuket.
We had organized everything except accommodation for 2 of us in Phuket. Two of our friends weren't supposed to come with us but finally, since we had great time at Koh Samui (Sirene Hil hotel) they decided to join us at Phuket as well.
They changed flights etc..We were very happy enjoying our holidays..And please note that we are 5 young people of maximum 30 years old. We may understand bad mood, rudness etc since we work in a hotel as well and many things happen during the shift. But this was outrageous !!
We arrived at Phuket airport and the driver was waiting for us.
Everything fine so far. But! we were five instead of three.
We asked from the driver to take two more persons and we would pay more. The hotel one mini bus and one car at the airport. So our driver said that he would take 3 of us and the others would wait next flight arrivals and come to hotel with the mini bus. Our friends called from the airport while we were already at the hotel to say that the mini bus wasn't there anymore. He left without taking them with him and even without waiting for the flight told so!! They have asked all drivers (they know each other) but he was no where just dissapeared! It isn't that my friends lost him. He took the mini bus and left!
Meanwhile we asked the reception for one more double room and they said they were fully booked and there was nothing.
Ok. We had to look for a room elsewhere. We checked in for our double room with extra bed. Reception didn't understand A N Y T H I N G in English. Our English is poor as well but not like this.
The room was small with two single beds and a rolling bed. You could barely walk in that room. And the view from our room was like where in a prison. We were facing the roof of the restaurant.
We have booked the spa wing. The room looked clean though.
No fruits (like other reviews) nothing. Of course we called the reception to complain and ask to be moved to another room. But there was nothing available. It was really difficult to discuss with the reception staff.
We stayed in the room to have a shower and go to look for a double room in another hotel.
Reception staff called 5 or 6 times (completely rude!!) to ask where are our friends!! They thought we would sleep all together!! 5 persons in a room for 2!!! Can you imagine??
And they kept calling again and again!!!
RUINED OUR FIRST DAY IN PHUKET! NEVER AGAIN SAME HOTEL!
We left the hotel to explore the area and we found out that Deevana was about 15 walking from the beach. It is far away from the sea.
We were looking for another property all day.
We finally found one new one, small, clean and quiet, value for money, the staff spoke English and we booked there...
only 1 min. walking from the beach.
Anyway we checked out next morning and guess what!!
They charged transfer from the airport for the 3 of us which was supposed (confirmed written) to be free of charge.
We asked to see the manager which never appeared. Of course.
Probably there wasn't any...
Deevana is the only bad bad bad experience during our holidays inn Thailand. All other persons are fine! kind, nice helpful etc..
We know that overbooking is not treated like this...Because it was a matter of overbooking..They wanted to make us check out same day.
Don't go.
In case you book for the cheapest price and you are sure you will be allocated in a room with a view (any view except restaurant) then go but don't ask for anything. You won't get it. They don't understand anything and they don't want to.
Sorry for saying to much. I could say more about this disgusting place.
The only good thing to mention is that it is a clean and new hotel.
Sorry for my English..
I will upload photos of this place when I will find them.. Its being a while since November..
