“It is be a lovely resort once the buildings are completed”
Reviewed 14 March 2011

We stayed for six nights in the new wing in a deluxe room on the top floor. Our 9th trip to Phuket. We arrived 12.30 am from Philippines along along day. Our room was ready and night reception was really nice man. Woke up to thud thud and went on the balcony to see we were sleeping in a construction site. It was mind boggling and required adjusting. What were they thinking??? Our room was wonderful Sony Bravia on the wall, Jarrah floors, great furnishing and quality. One side of the balcony a beach view other side a construction site. Our wing has not been completed. Two rooms up is a empty site shell with no balcony railings a glass door that slides open. There is no health and safety regulations. Breakfasts were good fruit was perfect. Used the free wifi from lobby.

We unfortunately had no lifts for 3 days as there was a big storm and water got into the electricals. We had to climb 5 stories too often. We are on the wrong side of middle age asked for a lower room without any response. We had idiots next room to us who played techno music obscenely loud. We will be running back to the Millennium in August. Good luck.

Located on beach road, easy access for everywhere. Huge swimming pool but under renovation. it would be great once renovation will be completed. Spacious room with cleanliness, guaranteed good sleep. Need to change shower head as due to its position, it will cause whole bathroom wet.... beside this, no complains, satisfied.

The whole family decided to spend boxing day in Phuket and since most hotels are fully booked, we picked Baan Lai Mai due to its location along Patong Beach. Honestly, the only positive thing about this hotel is its location along Patong Beach - very convenient.

It is one of the worst hotels we have stayed in as far as value and staff / service. They tried to "upgrade" us to beach facing rooms and luckily we had done our research and knew that these rooms are directly next to a stage with a loud band playing every night till 1 a.m. They also tried to charge us for miscellaneous items which were already paid for via the internet booking site. While we were there, we even heard a few other guests complaining as they were not given the room that they booked.

While we were there, a lot of construction was happening and the whole place was messy and noisy. There is also a nice big pool although this is mostly quite cold as the sun is blocked by the new buildings being built all around.

Where possible, stay at this hotel as a last option. The Holiday Inn resort nearby is definitely a better place to stay in.

We had late arrival and had booked for a deluxe sea view but when we arrived before 830pm, we were told the room we booked for is not available and they are willing to give us free upgrade to deluxe with pool access. Did not have other choice so we opted for the upgrade as we were informed that we can change to the room we wanted the next day.

Went to the room and called for room service but no one came after we had waited for more than 30mins.

We waited for the whole afternoon until evening on news about room change but no one called us and we then decided not to change room as was late, and we should try to get a free late check out. When I spoke to the manager on duty, not only he was very rude, he was also unhelpful and did not even bother to offer any apologies or alternatives. He even walked away when we were still talking halfway.

Housekeeping didnt replenish bathroom amenities, drinking water, and tea. When we were swimming in the pool, the Housekeeping staff even locked our balcony door

We started our honey moon in the Baan lamai hotel, from the beginning they gave us the honey moon suit which was amazing: clean, very big, comfortable bed, the best shower... and we only booked the deluxe room!!
the staff were very nice and helpful and we even return to Phuket for one more night in the end of our trip so we can stay one more night in this hotel!!!
very recommended

We booked a standard room and received an upgrade because the standard rooms were all booked. So this review is based on paying standard room prices for a pool side room. Beware: Standard rooms have no windows or balcony\patio. Our room opened up into the pool across from the lobby area. The room itself was quite nice with the typical amenities. The pool was great. The breakfast which was included was very good. Location is across from the beach and central to everything. Staff were helpful and friendly. Not 5 star, but for around $100US a night very nice.
The bad: Construction is going on all day. If you want to relax next to the pool, pass until the construction is complete. A band plays in front of the hotel at the hotel restaurant\bar until around 1:00 am. If you need quiet before that time you might want to look else where. Also, the restaurant is pretty good, but pricey. If you're on a budget you should eat at one of the many restaurants within walking distance of the hotel. There is internet in the lobby, but there is only one computer, so there can be a wait at times.
All in all, the Baan Laimai is a nice hotel in a great location with a wonderful pool. If you get a good price on a non-standard room I would definitely recommend the Baan Laimai.

Arrived at the resort checked in and brought to our rooms. Indeed the place is in construction on the far end and the noise did get my attention the second I set foot in my room. I went back to the reception where I spoke with M Natthee POTTHARAK about my concern on the noise issue. In a split second, we where moved to quite rooms as I had requested. I must say that I would love to have M Natthee POTTHARAK work for me in my company as he has the best professional profile I've seen in a long time. This Gentlemen went out of his way to ensure that may stay was going to be the best. And IT WAS THE BEST of all my travel in Thailand THANK YOU! BTW this gentlemen is the Assistant FO Manager. Now If I have to go back to Phuket, I know where I'm going to be staying. I would definatly refer my friends and familly to this resort. Its ideally situated and not far from the shops, beach and party places (Walking Street).
