While Phuket (patong) itself is far from a place I would recommend (had a flight stop-over), Tony Resort was a bit of a surprise. A nice pool, deep enough for a shallow dive and far far better than the overcrowded beach- Room was clean, quiet and had all the bits and pieces needed. Could not get the hot water - but in 35C - who needs it?. Wireless network worked fine in the reception area.

We were group of eight friends & have booked 8 delux double rooms in this hotel ! This hotel is located right on the patong beach area ! The rooms are good enough to accomodate 2 people ! Since it is a guest friendly hotel, there is no extra charge for the guest you bring from the outside,if you have booked a double room !The staff at the reception is helpful and very co-opearative as a result our check in was completed in few minutes only ! The morning breakfast was good and tasty ! There are many bars and pubs on the both sides of the resort ! Swimming pool was also good and enjoyable ! Our stay was really funfilled & we enjoyed our stay at this resort !

This hotel is an absolute prime location in Patong however it's incredibly dated and would benefit hugely from a complete re-do.

Firstly, the location is awesome, right in the middle of Patong, one road back from the beach and a short walk to the shops, dining, beach and nigh clubs. Also as an added bonus it's very, very quiet considering where it is, so it's a nice escape at the end of a long day.

Secondly, despite the seriously dated decor (70s-80s at a guess) it is kept very clean, the pool was cyrstal clear, the dining room was always clean and our room was promptly serviced daily, so considering it's age at least it's kept clean.

Now onto the negatives, the staff are friendly, but not overly welcoming nor do they go out of the way to help. The wifi is terrible, the only place it works is in the lobby, so each day you'll see people sitting round the lobby using their laptops and ipads. Every morning house keeping starts quite early, and they make so much noise! Yelling, laughing and there are phones in the corridors that they use that ring non-stop, it was so loud I thought it was our phone in our room ringing! Finally the breakfast buffet is very, very average, I got stomach cramps from the bacon on the first day, the bread is sugary sweet and everything else is basic. The milk for the cereal is warm and disgusting!

It's a shame that this place is so average, it's a grand old dame who desperately needs a make over, it's prime location and size mean that it's got huge potiental but right now it's sitting too comfortably in average. The hotel was mostly empty when we stayed (early Jan), one could almost feel the ghosts of it's heyday rubbing shoulders with you, espeically as everywhere you look there are signs of a once bustling and busy hotel.

Personally I wouldn't stay here again and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone either, there are plenty of newer and nicer hotels in the area.

The hotel staff were so nice, they did everything to make us feel welcome and comfortable. There are two pools, one for kids and one bigger for the adults. Even though it's close to everything, you will find the hotel to be really quiet. The rooms are clean and spacious. The tv has a couple of moviechannel to watch while you're resting. And the balcony is well needed for hanging your towels and bikini to dry. The hotel are smokefree, the only smokingarea is near the lobby, where the cabs and tourbuses park. There are only few minutes walk to the beach, Bangla Road and Jungceylon. You have good and cheap laundry, food mall etc close the hotel. There are lots of bars and restaurants to chose from, mostly arabic and pizza. I could defently recommend this hotel.

The 6 night-stay passed by very quickly. The hotel is right in the middle of Patong busy street and yet, very quiet when it comes to outside noise pollution. It's yet another story when it comes to housekeeping staff pushing their carts on tiled corridors in the morning, or having their fixed phone ringing sharply in the same corridor.
The front office staff working the evening shift is far from being friendly and welcoming. Morning staffs are much better and diligent.
There is no safety box in the room, but they may have them near the front office desk.
Transfer to the airport by cab is 350 Bhat / pax. Breakfast, which I haven't tried, is 280 Bhat / pax. The breakfast display looks very small though.

If you are on a shoestring budget but cannot resist a couple of nights in the heart of the liveliest neighborhood of Patong, then tony resort may just be the place for you. It will take slightly over an hour of taxi ride to get to tony resort from Phuket airport. So if you have to catch an early morning flight out, then make sure you liaise with a reliable cab operator to pick you up. Fortunately there is one such fellow just outside the resort at Dubai restaurant.
The resort can be summed up with one word - minimalistic. The lobby is superfluous. Rooms are clean but have a weather-beaten look. Amenities are rudimentary, and something as elementary as a hot water kettle for preparing tea/coffee stands out because of its absence! Bottled water is available in sealed glass bottles. You may choose to leave your towels behind while packing, but make sure you carry your bathroom slippers, for you will not be pampered by tony resort with those. Breakfast spread exemplifies minimalism. It's not for the gourmets, but for those who 'eat to live'. Do try the milk though, it's yummy. Complimentary wi-fi is included in the bed & breakfast package, but reception is poor inside the room.
Staff comprises a bunch of novices, assembled hurriedly to carry out the tasks normally entrusted to professionals. So don't expect too much efficiency.
However, all the minimalism is repudiated by two incongruent swimming pools located in the resort. The larger pool is located at the centre of the resort while the smaller one is outside the main building, giving an impression of a separate property altogether. Given that some of the fanciest hotels are squeezed by real estate crunch to offer a glorified bath tub for a pool, a big thumbs up indeed for Mr Tony for indulging aquatic leisure seekers.
Biggest USP of tony resort is its location. It lies within strolling distance of everything interesting. There are numerous restaurants and massage parlours around, ranging from inexpensive to exotic. One can walk to the beach or simply head in the opposite direction for the lively walking street, where the night is always alive. There are enough shops nearby to shop for curios & souvenirs. Cabs are easily available for moving to other parts of the city.
All in all, it's a decent package for the price on offer. After all, you would not be in that part of town to waste away inside four walls of a room!
