“Dont get what you pay for and cruelty to animals here!”
Reviewed 8 January 2014

We are currently at the hi view resort in kata. And we are not enjoying our stay with this hotel.

On arrival the receptionist was very blunt and disinterested with us and after arriving at our room we realised the safety deposit box was not working and there was no hairdryer as stated on the agoda website.

We asked reception to help with these issues and they responded by sending a 12-14 year old boy up to our room to fiddle with the box for 20 mins before sayig there was nothing he could do. I asked ifthey had another one from aan different room and they said no 6 of their rooms dont have the boxes already. This is therefore false adverising and you dont get all ghe feature s you pay for here! We are now having to carry eveything valuble with us all the time!

Also for the price the standsrd rooms are they are reslly nothing special. Ours is right on a busy main road which is noisy to all hours of the morning and reception insist on leaving the hall lights on all night which shines right through the glass room doors in this block - both factors contributing to a terrible nights sleep here! Thank god we only have 3 nights booked.

All those complaints I could deal with as it just being a shabby hotelexcept for this llast one- the cruelty to animals.
They have a large racoon and a large falcon eagle type bird locked in small cages all day and all night long in the heat. We approached them and called to the racoon and it couldnt even lift his head - he was clearly distressed with nothing in his empty cage except a log and a tiny tin of water. The eagle looked like it was trying to escape and its cage was disgusting covered with excrement.

This is unnecessary cruetly there is no need for these animals to be cooped up like they are here and that is why I will not be returning to this hotel.

This inn is located just in front of Boat House hotel at kata. That's what we told to our taxi driver so he knew right away where to go. From Canal resort (near airport), to kata hi view, we were charged 900 Baht.

Our room is at B2, so we were quite lucky not to take the hundred steps to get to our room. The room is superb, spacious and clean. Super worth the value we paid for.

There are plenty of restaurants just outside of the inn, the beach and bus terminal (to patong {fare costs 30 Baht}, karon {fare costs 25 Baht} and old phuket town {fare costs 35 Baht}) are just few minutes walk.

If you wanna avail the island visit (Krabi and phi phi island), I suggest you to avail it here because they give big discounts to guests.

I also suggest to try the authentic Thai food located in front of steak house (no. 1 steak house at kata beach) It's like a small food stall.

We also check the pool and I run out of breath coz it's really high. As in! It's not recommended for old people or who has knee and ankle problem. So before booking a room, make sure that you are physically fit to take the hundred steps several times a day. Or better yet make sure you haven't forgotten anything so you won't be getting up and down the whole time.

The receptionist Doda, speaks English very well and is very accommodating. Thank you so much Doda!

We really love kata beach because of Kata Hi View made it very convenient for us! Thank you so much for the great experience.

Room Tip: Choose rooms along B 1-4

When my girlfriend and I arrived to this resort we were a little skeptical as it was so cheap. We picked up our keys on arrival to find we were located in the villa at the top of a very steep hill with many steps. After a full workout we arrived at our villa and were pleasantly surprised. The villa itself was very spacious and in immaculate condition, with nice decor, and a spotless modern bathroom. Views were stunning from the balcony. I would highly recommend this resort to budget travelers who have excellent levels of fitness. There are villas available that aren't so troublesome to get to, so I would advise contacting the reception if you'd prefer easier access at the expense of a not so spectacular view. To sum this place up, it was excellent value considering how cheap it was.

Room Tip: Contact reception before booking to ensure you have a short climb to your villa.

This is a very quite place where you will feel like being in the nature with trees everywhere. The beach is very close (2 min walking) and the center 4 min walking. The staff is very nice and always willing to help. Rooms are clean and big enough with A/C and a big fridge.
The view from the outside swimming pool is amazing and the outside pool itself stunning.

This was a really lovely place to stay. The view of the Andaman Sea alone, is stunning and made the beginning and end of every day that much better. The staff was helpful and quite friendly, but my only qualm with them would be that the only place that they would recommend for food was the Black Canyon Restaurant across the road because the owner of it is also the owner of the hotel. I get it, and it's not that big of a deal. But when we asked time and again, for local food, where locals eat, they kept directing us back to Black Canyon. We didn't want cheeseburgers and pizza or very overpriced, dumbed-down Thai standards. All in all though, the staff were helpful and very friendly. Even when they were directing us to the restaurant that we had no interested in, they did so in a very friendly, cheerful way. Their website is a little bit misleading in that they do a good job of making it look like a rustic, off-the-beaten-path sort of resort with private bungalows. On the actual grounds of the hotel, it does feel this way, until you look to the left or right of their property. Kata is quieter than Patong and Phuket Town, but this place was still sandwiched right in between 2 huge hotels. The view was gorgeous, the private bungalow was very nice, and we spent most of our time hanging out at the pool and on our own private terrace. I would definitely return. You really get more than what you pay for.

Room Tip: When you get your taxi in to Kata from the airport, book the return trip with them at that time. Fro...

This is a very good budget villa that you can find in Kata. I was a solo traveller and both the area and the villa felt safe.

Clean room, big bathroom and very nice veranda overlooking Kata beach. The reception staff is wonderful but the cleaning staff were sometime rude (maybe caused by language barrier). Ultra comfy bed.

Only thing turns me off in giving 5 points is that they have caged animals that I think should be living in wilderness (raccoon and eagle or similar). Other than that, I would recommend this place

Room Tip: I stayed at A2 and was perfect but you need to be aware of steps and people in swimmingpool late nig...

First of All : This hotel is not recommended for older adults!!
more than 100 stairs to climb up. but nice view up there!! (I am sure you can see all the beach KATA from your room)!
I paid 1000 B a night which value for the money.
There were Safety Box - Hot Water - Freeze - TV - AC and also 2 Cats and 1 Dog (in lobby).
unlucky our TV has 1 channel working, the less are no signal.
I would recommend this hotel in term of value and incredible view!!

Room Tip: Lock all door while you are in or out of the room.
