“An amazingly relaxing and friendly resort”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 February 2012

This is a truely amazing place to stay. From the moment we entered the resort in our taxi, the relaxing, friendly atmosphere hit us.

We checked-in and were greeted with smiles, drinks and cold-towels. Unlike most other hotesl / resorts, after being checked-in, we were taken for a quick tour of the resort (via a golf buggy) and escorted to our villa - where we were shown around and had things explained - this is such a useful and welcoming touch.

The food was amazing at both of their restaurants and not much more expensive than eating outside of the resort. The staff were so, so friendly and the service was top-notch, in every aspect. One example of their personal, friendly service is sending flowers to me after I had been a little unwell - they knew this as they had arranged a taxi to take me to the doctors.

If you decide to stay here ...I am sure you will enjoy it.

Room Tip: We booked a 'beach front villa', but there are only a few; when we arrived we were told they...

My boyfriend and I were planning a trip for valentines day and decided on Thailand. After spending 7 days in Bangkok (on Khaosan Road) we really needed a change of pace. We found the Vijjit Resort on Expedia at a 30% discount and booked it immediately since the review mentioned it was a 5 star resort.

Upon arrival we were greeted (in the blistering Phuket heat) with chilled towels and refreshing lemongrass iced tea. What a lovely touch! The grounds are spectacular and are truly Thai in every way from the banana trees and many varieties of palm to the random birds, insects and lizards. If you don't like bugs (like me) make sure to ask for repellent. The resort provides all kinds of wonderful natural repellents to make you comfortable.

We arrived at noon but check in wasn't until 2 pm so the lovely Thai employees offered us a free private car into Patong or boat to Coral Island. Having rented a car, we politely declined and scoped out the nearby beaches instead.

Steven and I had no idea what the room looked like. We were at a loss for words when they drove us to our private villa (no. 90) and took us inside. Breathtaking! This villa did not come with an ocean view. Instead, we had our own private endless swimming pool surrounded by lush flora. The room was spacious and just lovely. Certainly worth far more than what we paid!

The "bell boy" offered us a tour of the grounds via a golf cart. The public pool is fantastic. Salt water and endless and HUGE! It's close to one of their 2 restaurants.... a few steps away and you're at the beach. Note: this is a real beach with fish, crab, live shells and all sorts of wonderful surprises. Our favorite were the schools of tiny fish that fly out of the water as you waddle by. Truly an amazing experience for Steven and I since we both grew up in big cities. I'm from NYC and he's from Paris. We'd never experienced anything like this!

The Vijjit Resort provides free (and not so free tours) so we booked a scuba diving tour elsewhere to the islands south of Phuket for a better price. To my surprise, Steven proposed under water! It was Valentine's Day! That night the resort provided a romantic 4 course dinner including a palate cleanser and petit fours for a very reasonable price (around $130 US dollars pp) complete with a bottle of wine, trio of gorgeous Thai singers doing standards and floral arrangements... not to mention special tables with canopies overlooking the salt water pool, beach and surrounding islands. Sigh..... Not a night I will forget!

We are planning to come back for our wedding. Why not? It's gorgeous and affordable.

Room Tip: The staff barely speaks English but they are oh so nice. Speak slowly and repeat! And ask them to re...

I found Phuket, generally, to be pretty tacky and disgusting. We had been sailing the coast and it was our terminus. After a glorious week of natural beauty, Phuket was overwhelming in a bad way. The hotel saved us.

It is beautifully located, nicely designed, with beautiful landscaping, fantastic pool and enviable location on the sea. Good food, laid back, pleasant. Also good "bang for the buck."

We stayed at the Vijitt Resort for 10 wonderful days in a deluxe sea view villa (no 24). When you awake in the morning and throw back the curtains the view of Lon Island across the bay is breathtaking and sunrises are stunning as well. The Vijitt Resort was built 35 years ago and so it has an air of faded elegance but it doesn't detract from the great place that it is. They have a one stop service, dial 1 from your phone, that quickly gets you what you want. We had a couple of issues and they were resolved quickly and amicably. The great service provide far out weighed any issues. On arrival there was no WiFi available in the room and after dialing 1 there was a short wait and then the IT team arrived with a router, made sure it was working and then left - that is the sort of excellent service that you can look forward.
It is a very peaceful place and you soon relax and unwind to such an extent that you just want to stay forever. There are a few local shops and bars but nothing touristy at all. If you want night life you'll need to get a taxi. Highly recommend it.

I stayed in Vijitt resort end of Jan, with my parents both are above 75 year old and my children at 6 and 18, all of them had enjoyed a great time there. The villa is spacious, well equiped and clean. There are enough beach chairs in the swimming pool area and beach area, where we had killed most of our time. The beach is not the kind for swimming, but when it's in low tide, it becomes a wetland where you could find a lot of sea creatures. If you like beach pick-up like my father and my children, you will definitely find a lot of surprises! The service is excellent, except the first day when we arrived at noon time, I was told that one of the villas we booked would be ready in 20 minutes, and the other one would be ready in an hour. We got the first villa in about 30 minutes, and the other one after 3 hour! But this was the only issue we had with this resort and it was well compensated when we left for the airport at mid night around 1:00am. The resort had arranged buggy pick up from the villa, and free transportation to the airport. Every detail was well considered.

We also find a good restaurant nearby right on the beach. When it is on low tide, you walk on the beach to the leftside for about 10 minutes, there is a very good Thai restaurant, but don't go there on windy days. We were almost blow up that night when the wind is strong!

Pleasantly surprised by how quiet the property is. Vijitt is beautiful by day and night. Staff are knowledgeable and extremely helpful but not "in your face".

One way transfers by Toyota Fortuna by the hotel made available at about 1,200BHT per car (3 person maximum). However, if you are getting picked up at the airport, walk all the way out to the outdoor heat and look for your name instead of wasting your time looking through the rows of signage, sweaty touting taxi companies.

Best to arrive before the evening rush hour if not it can take more than an hour to reach the hotel from the airport.

Rooms are generous in size with a huge bathroom and separate outdoor shower. However, if you are scared of lizards (like i am) do not use the outdoor showers as the little suckers hide around the bamboo.

Breakfast variety does not differ but there's must coffee shops outside of the hotel so I am afraid that you are stuck there, but you are able to take a free shuttle bus from the hotel to the Central Festival Mall but be sure to book your space for the return trip one day before.

Pool is adequately sized but deck chairs need a little upgrade. You have the option of using the deck chairs facing the sea (you will be disappointed that the sea here is not "clear" here as the sea goes out quite a fair bit when it's low tide so the algae on sand kick ups on high tide and blur out the water. It might be worth asking front desk about the free trip to coral island if you want to swim in clearer sea waters or for a fee, go for a day trip to phi phi island or charter your own boat like we did and you can go on a half day to anyway the boat brings you.

Other activities for the hotel include horse back riding by the sea, cooking classes, yoga and batik painting classes. They also have a Thai boxing (Muay Thai) class on fridays but you are better off walking out of the hotel (about 7mins to the left) and training at a proper Muay Thai Camp called Rawai Muay Thai which has visiting World and Lumpinee Champions from time to time.

You can rent a scooter so that it takes you to some of the good thai Massage places in Rawai or a catch of the day seafood restaurants by the beach. Come back to the hotel bar at Savoury and enjoy cheap after dinner drinks!

On the whole, the experience at Vijitt was amazing and peaceful. (oh, you will have beautiful legs after a week of staying there as the property is set on the hill so there's alot of climbing to do :) however, you can call front desk to send a buggy).

Room Tip: Please tell the hotel that you want a quieter room, one that is not close to the hotel bar as it you...

I recently stayed at the Vijitt resort and it was beautiful. If you're looking for a private getaway then this location is it. The villas are spacious, modern, clean and the staff are very polite and accommodating (some of the employees are not very good at English but they will find someone who can speak it, if they cannot understand). If you're located at one of the bottom villas, you can easily summon someone to pick you up from your villa to take you to the reception/spa or vice versa via golf carts.

Pros:
-Beautiful resort with great amenities (gym, salt water pool, spa)
-Farther from the noise BUT if you want to be close enough to get to Patong, then stay around Kata or Karon Beach. The taxi cab ride at lowest can be 500 baht but most will charge you at least 600.
-Double sink vanity
-They have a decent collection of dvds in case you want to see a movie

Cons:
-The Friendship Beach is not for swimming and don't find out the hard way because apparently it smells like pee
-The buffet food is sub par especially when we came from another resort that had amazing food and multiple restaurants (this location only has 2 available)

They have complimentary shuttles and transportation available to areas such as Patong or Coral Island but they are limited and know that you have to make reservations a day in advance. The service again at Coral Island with the Vijitt staff was outstanding.

Book adventures from the towns if you can, because the resort charges triple the price. The private taxi they provide is 700 baht but it is in a nice luxury car and for about 1100 baht the driver told us he would stay with us for 5 hours and show us around which isn't a bad deal for being in a nice luxury air conditioned car. But know you can get it for cheaper. If you want to catch a cheaper taxi, go walk outside of the resort and you can grab one from across the street.

Room Tip: Get a room with a seaview and around the teen numbers because there isn't a hike up to your vill...
