“Packed in January|”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 31 May 2014

Lovely views on route to this beach. Clean, even though busy. Paradise. Take snacks & drinks with you. The hotels overlooking this beach are very pricey, however, there are other ones closeby that are a third or less of some of the prices.

“You don't come to swim.”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 31 May 2014

This is not really a beach for swimming as it is busy with boats, shallow at low tide and polluted from the resorts, restaurants and the general garbage from the street. You can see and smell the sewerage when it is released into the ocean.

“A lovely spot - safe, patrolled surf beach”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 May 2014

Nice spot, variety of market stalls and restaurants right next to beachfront. Plenty of parking. Hotels and resorts nearby.

“Working beach - not for swimming”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 May 2014

Rawai beach is very different to the main tourist beaches. Here you will find longtail boats for hire and some decent restaurants along the beach. The tide goes out quite some way exposing the muddy shoreline. This beach is more for coming and going to the many Islands around rather than swimming. Lots of Thai families picnicing on the shoreline or dining at the beachside restaurants in the evening. Rawai, to me, felt a lot more like Thailand than the main tourist towns. I appreciated this very much as opposed to the distinct lack of Thai culture around Karon.

“Shells and seafood”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 May 2014

Hubby loves to go to this beach where the fisherman are with long boats. He buys clean shells there from the shops much cheaper than Junceylon and other stores. They are packed and cleaned and allowed through customs if not prohibited type but he does his research. They also let you buy seafood on one side and take it to the other side and cook it for you. Lots little kids will ask you for money and turn their nose up if you don't give a decent amount. They are quite used to tourists!! Not the cleanest area where the markets are but that's ok. You can catch a local open air blue bus from patong on seafront to Phuket town then the Rawai beach bus so 2 each way. 30 baht each segment.
