Rawai is a laid back nice beachside town we like to associate with Phuket island. Excellent food, massages, bars. Not really a swimming beach but plenty of long tail or speed boats available to negotiate to take you to select islands for snorkelling or beach relaxation.

It's a beach to click photo & enjoying seafood but not suitable to swimming. A lot of fisher boats are parking along the beach

Not really a beach to sunbathe as there are lots of boats but still very nice with plenty of places to eat and drink. There are other beaches not too far away Had a nice few days here.

We stayed at Rawaii Beach for 10 nights in March and we really felt that it isn't the jewel in the crown of Phuket.

For us the biggest let down was the food. Literally everywhere we went, the food options looked like poor options to impress western diners who don't want to eat Thai food. When the number 1 restaurant on Trip Advisor for Rawaii Beach is a burger restaurant, it speaks volumes. We generally go to Koh Samui and the food there is amazing. We found most of the food here did not feel like traditional Thai flavours and as I overheard one tourist say "Thai people are losing their culture". I hope this is not true, but from the perspective of dining, it seems true at Rawaii Beach.

Now, we made the best of our situation and we enjoyed our holiday overall and we are glad we have been and glad we experienced it.....we had some memories I am sure we'll talk about for years to come.

But we don't need to return.
