“Great Time”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 February 2014

We stayed their in May 2013. We had the pool access room, it was great. The staff and the service were great. they are not that proficient in English, but remember you are in Thailand, English not their first language. We had no problems communicating with the staff. The breakfast buffet was very good. Their are lost of restaurants within walking distance. we did not use the spa facilities instead went to the massage place across the street and it was great. If you are planning to book day tours from the hotel lady next to the front desk remember they do negotiate and reduce the price by about 40%. Overall this a very good hotel. I don't know why people complain about English in a non English speaking country.

This hotel was great, Rawai is a very nice area extremley quiet and out of all the tourist hell holes like Patong, Kata and Karon. Just about 10 min drive from Rawai was a gorgeous beach Nai Harn one of the best I have ever been to and I have been to some amazing places. The staff were very nice and always helpful. Rooms were comfy and clean. Facilities very good the pool was fabulous with a great pool bar. Only thing is there are a lot of stair so this would not be ideal for couples with chilren in pushchairs or elderly. Also the breakfast area was a little hot as it was open air with no aircon but was very good with a lot to choose from. It was extrmeley cheap so I think that for what we paid it was well worth it.

trip advisor

The Rawai Palm Beach Resort on the Island of Phuket will have to be the worst resort one can choose if you are hard at walking or have prams or strollers. Standing on the street level one will have to climb 47 steep steps to get to the reception. With steep stairs everywhere and gaps between concrete slabs to allow pool water to flow, it is very difficult and a place to avoid. The staff are very friendly but have very little training and have next to none language skills. We had booked and prepaid for 14 days and had no linen change in that time. Very poor.

Room Tip: Don't go by the pictures but read the reviews.

OK where do I start? First of all the people at the resort DO NOT SPEAK ENGLISH WELL!

Also...... We got to the resort at 1pm and had to wait until AFTER 2PM to get into our room! They couldnt even have our room ready before the advertised time......

The other thing is the bed! The bed is not full size...... I am a short guy... (173cm) and my feet almost hung over the foot of the bed! SO IF YOUR TALL... GOOD LUCK SLEEPING IN THAT BED!

So we stayed here in early Jan 2014... and Didn't realise we had to hike to our room everyday! Honestly to get to your room you may need to walk 1-2km and its a maze!! The design of the resort is poor and its very easy to get lost... Once you work out where to go though its okay.

That aside the biggest let down of this resort was the service... this was the 3rd resort we stayed in on our trip and this one by far had the worst service... and we beleive it was because.. THIS RESORT HAS TOO MANY ROOMS, which equals TOO MANY PEOPLE!!

This means the people who work at this resort simply cannot attend to your needs like other resorts simply because the amount of people staying there at any one time far out-weighs the amount of staff needed there to make this place run efficiently...

This also meant that breakfast was as busy as New York City.. With people everywhere... We were surprised we could even get a table! We did not go up for seconds as there was just too many people we decided to just go back to the room hungry as we wernt happy with the breakfast....

BUT THE WORST THING ABOUT THIS PLACE.... This hotel runs its own TAXI service... Now you may think this is a good thing, but it's not, what this means is that you must book a taxi with the hotel at least one day in advance.. or else your stranded! THIS IS WHAT HAPPENED TO US! We needed a taxi to the airport and because we did not book in advance we were stranded and forced to hale a taxi on the streets (which was difficult because the streets around the resort are very quiet)

Also: there was no mention of the resorts taxi service and that we HAD to book in advance if we wanted a taxi in the hotel manuals... and it was not mentioned to us at all.

Stayed in this hotel for 5 nights in Deluxe room. The room size is quite big with a balcony and very nicely decorated. Though our room was pretty far from the reception but managed. The reception staffs are very helpful & smiling face. The pool is something excellent (very scenic) with an artificial beach for kid's play which is very nice. The breakfast has a wide variety but the problem is they don't refill quickly once the food is over. Not sure that is intentional or restaurant guys are having lack of skill. They have buffet dinner on every Monday & Thursday & charges 450 Bahts PP. I tried that & found reasonable & good. Plenty of restaurants & a mini mart in walking distance.

The internet speed really sucks & pages takes ages to get loaded though my room was located in the middle of that building block. Other thing which is very strange once my coffee/tea bag got over they never replenished which looks very cheap to me. It's not expected in this kind of resort.

Please be aware that if you don't have a rental car/bike the place is a spoiltsport & can be avoided. It'll cost around 500 Bahts single trip by taxi to the city center which is costly in any standards. Overall it was a pleasant experience.

We arrived early Jan and to be honest found the hotel really good. We checked in within 10 mins and was given a free welcome drink, Our bags was carried up to our room which was 1301 facing the pool. There is a lift if you need one at the end of the building. The room did not smell and was very well maintained. The bed was very comfortable and the air conditioning worked great no louder than other units in different hotels. The mini bar in the room is no more expensive than the local shops which was great.

Service is a little slow but this was the case in most places we visited. The food at the hotel was good, my only comment would be don't hide the bacon behind the counter and maybe introduce baked beans.

Not sure why people feel the need to complain about the towels they was in good condition and clean. Sure sometimes they would not be replaced maybe due to a shortage but once you ask you was quickly given some more.

All the staff worked hard and was very good never once experienced communication problems.

No quite sure why a some people have been confused about who works at the excursions counter it is quite obvious they all work there even though some are not in hotel uniform. We booked a few trips and found them very good and very helpful and they spoke good English.

I suppose some people just like complaining. Trust me if you want a hotel in Rawia close to the shops and bars then you will have no problem here. They have there own taxi service which we used for our trips, the drivers will take you to places and show you round the resort at no extra cost. They even wait a few hours while you on you trip and take you back to the hotel without charging more.

There is plenty cash machines in the resort and the rate is about 55 baht to the pound for cash.

The entertainment at the hotel needs looking at in my point of view but we when out most nights so was not a problem for us.

Pool was great please stop the Russians reserving sunbeds.

Overall good place to stay in Rawai.

This is a solid four-star hotel in Rawai district, at the very south end of Phuket. We stayed in a pool access room for eight nights.

The pool, and the pool access rooms in particular, are this hotel's stand-out feature. It's a beautiful land-scaped pool with waterfalls and fountains throughout. Pool access rooms have their own private pool area connecting into the main pool. In January the pool was a nice temperature - cool enough to invite you in from the warm humid air, but not too cold! The beach, for the record, is about 50m down the road, and isn't a swimming beach, it's a fishing beach - but the hotel runs shuttle buses to a nearby swimming beach. These shuttles are quite popular with guests who preferred a beach over the pool.

A real plus for this hotel is the pricing in the restaurants. It's actually pretty much on par with the beach-front cafe over the road. Food was usually quick to be delivered and was tasty. The breakfast buffet has a good range of both local and international cuisine.

The biggest issue we noticed was the towels. The quality of the towels was average - not terrible, but not especially good - and there also seems to be a significant shortage. Most days housekeeping would take the towels away in the morning when they cleaned the room, and we wouldn't get fresh towels until later in the afternoon - when they were usually warm enough to indicate that they'd just come out of the dryer!

It's probably worth noting that the hotel is located in Rawai, which is a long way from Phuket's hedonistic party centres such as Patong. If you're coming to Phuket aiming to party the night away, you'd probably want to find something close to Patong than Rawai. But to be fair, this hotel doesn't seem to pitch itself at that market.

Room Tip: Pool access rooms are the way to go - ask for a room numbered between 1101 and 1125. The remaining p...
