“beautiful location”

No doubt the locale is gorgeous!
A friend lives nearby and recommended this place. She had not stayed here but visited the bungalows next door Ao-Sane.
I saw this room listed for $43 US on Agoda.com but I did not book because we traveled around. By the time we arrived at the hotel we asked for a price and they gave it to us for like $70 US. The hotel was empty so I am surprised they put up such a fight. We had just come back from a small island so we just wanted to get rest. Our room wasn't the best. There are newer villas but we had an older bungalow. The walls were a bit moldy and the room had that smell. Not that the hotel could control this, but power lines were knocked down in a storm several days before we arrived. We had no power twice a day but the hotel warned us first.
It was low season and I think there was two other couples there.
The restaurant wasn't the greatest but ok. I found this wasn't the only hotel to have cold breakfast items in their chaffing dishes. They had a singer at night who was great! He did his best to sing English songs with a heavy Thai accent. It was great!
The staff was nice. My husband had a massage and liked it.
The pool is nice but the umbrellas were moldy. The cushions were dirty and I had to use my mosquito spray to get the ants off. It would have been nice to have staff offer to bring drinks to the pool.
Since we didn't pay that much I was willing to put up with this stuff but if I had to pay much more I may not have.
The beach is nice, great view!
The free tuk tuk rides to Nai Haarn beach should be increased but it isn't a bad walk downhill and nice view. Tough uphill!
I know this sounds bad but I would stay there again but I would get the newer villa.

We used the other reviews here in deciding to stay at Baan Krating. We have previously been disappointed with some hotel shown on the internet, in that they tend to exagerate just a tad.

We were more than pleasantly surprise to find that this Hotel is all that it stated and more. It was just what we were looking for, it is secluded, romantic and the service is second to none and the views are spectacular particulary on the cape. At night the place transforms into a wonderland with selected lighting on paths and vegetation and the sounds of the ocean and wildlife (not to wild).

We had no issues with the accommodation probably as it was off season so they accommodated us in one of the front seaview bungalows. There are some dodgy rooms that do overlook the carpark but there seem to be only a couple of these and unless they are full I would not see this being an issue as we found the reception staff more than accommodating. The rooms are well appointed, very comfortable and very reasonably priced. The restuarant serves a free breakfast and the other meals are very reasonably price and offer a mix of Thai and western cuisine (for those who want it). They also do room service and a mean cocktail.

The staff rate particular mention as they are excellent, their service and friendly attitude is one thing we found most appealing about the Hotel.
It is isolated so those who want the bright lights and night life should look elsewhere, but for those who want a romantic out of the way hideaway you can not go past this place, we can not recommend this place highly enough.

Like the other reviews state, this hotel is secluded, which is the reason we chose to stay there (as well as the reasonable prices). The staff where friendly and obliging and everywhere was kept tidy at all times.

The resort is situated in a steep valley and has been very well designed (one of the owners is a renowned architect) around this fact.

One word of warning though - the ‘Deluxe Sea view’ rooms have no sea view, we were offered the choice of 6 different rooms, each of which only had a view of a car park surrounded by buildings and trees. The hotel staff seemed very blasé when we mentioned the ‘sea view’ rooms actually had no sea view to which they just laughed and said we could upgrade for an extra charge. After a very frustrating 30 mins of getting nowhere we upgraded to one of the private villas, which actually had a very nice sea view (see our photos and ones from review bellow, we stayed in the villa next door).

Even after our initial disappointment we really enjoyed our stay here, although if we hadn’t hired motorbikes (at a very reasonable price from the resort reception) which enabled us to quickly travel to all the neighbouring beaches and restaurants then we probably would have become a little uncomfortable with the remoteness of this little gem of a resort.

I used the above review, when we decided to book this place. It's very isolated-located on the southern tip of phuket-a hour from the airport-near Phuket town. It's kind of crazy that you have to go through the Le Meredien yacht club service entrance and a very curvy road to get to this hotel. There were only a few other people at this place when we were there. The bunaglows are very nice. Ours had a nice view of the sea. Bathrooms were simple, but had special shampoos and conditioners made for this boutique hotel. The beach was rocky and small, but nice-you share it with some other guest house. There were a bunch of windsurfers staying here-so it must be very good for this. You can use the beach at Nai Harn(next to Le Meredien) The restaurant staff seemed to take a long time to make our food and drinks. My husband asked for a watermelon shake and got a banana instead. They don't speak great english, but they try hard-so you have to excuse some miscommunications.

This hotel is very isolated. More so than i originally thought. This should only be for couples, who want to get away from everything. You can't really walk to anything-the Le Meredien is about 15 min walk, but could be dangerous since it's not lighted at night and has very sharp turns. But the staff will easily book you a cab-there are close restaurants at Cape Panwa and Patong Beach is about 30-45 mins away.
