“A faded star”

I always compare prices of hotels with those of Blackpool, Lima Coco at £60 a night through booking.com didn't do to badly saved mostly by its setting. The hotel sits on the beach running back up the hill side (lots of stairs). We were unlucky enough to get one of the rooms right at the back which had no balcony and was entered from a rather ominous passage. There were force marks on the door casing which did nothing for our feeling of security there was also no safe in the room. The air con was first rate, the bedding clean as was the rest of the room, the biggest problem being how dated it all looked.

The restaurant whilst not overly ambient served good food at reasonable prices though as has been said was a little slow. Drinks were reasonable too. The staff were all quite young but friendly enough once you caught their attention.

There are two lovely resort either side which means you can stay on the cheap and visit the other two for dinner and drinks and feel really special.

All in all on a budget its worth a stay though if you can afford it go for one of the other two.

Room Tip: Try and get one with a balcony

I arrived here for a four night stay expecting a bit more from a hotel in this location. The beach at Ao Prao where Lima Coco is situated is the best on the island, but it sadly didn't live up to any expectation. My room, supposedly a Deluxe garden hideaway was spacious, but without a single stick of furniture in it, not even a chair or table. The bedside shelves were all part of the wall structure, as was the tv "table". The worst thing was the constant "fragrance" emanating from all the plugholes and pipework around the hotel - in spite of two air fresheners in my bathroom the all pervading wiff still hung around, as it did when you walked down to reception too.

When I arrived I had to ask for clean pillowcases as they had not been changed. Food was reasonably priced but rather mediocre upon tasting. Pity, it could have been so good.

Room Tip: Book direct with the hotel so you can talk to them and choose your room. I was charged more for an...

This is only a review of the restuarant not the whole resort.

Me and two friends had the misfortune of frequenting this restuarant on the 03/01/2013... We originally placed an order for lunch with a waiter who could have been no older than about 8 years old (I kid you not)...after 25 minutes another waiter came back and read back the order to us, of which 3 of the 4 items were incorrect...we where then informed that they did not actually have the 1 item they had recorded down correctly. After 20 minutes we recieved the first of four dishes.... Then 1 HOUR later we finally recieved the remaining meals...

We did not appear to be the only customers suffering delays but recieved no apology from any of the waiters, and were actively ignored by most when enquiring as to the whereabouts of our food...

When the bill came we asked why we were being forced to pay a service charge, when the service had been so terrible...at which point the waiter who at least appeared to be in charge came over to us and shouted aggressively that if we did not pay the whole bill he would call the police...when we pointed out that at no point had we refused to pay the whole bill, but were simply questioning us paying a 'service charge', in light of so little 'service', he shouted loudly in front of many other customers 'what was wrong with us?'...

We ordered 2 pancakes with ice cream, a burger and a milkshake... Hardly the most technical dishes on the menu...

I've never been made to feel so humiliated...avoid!!!!

After arriving via speed boat we were backed into sandy beach as attendants from the resort met my husband and myself. They took our bags as we took the few steps into the warm ocean water. Never have I arrived to an island in this way and I do have to say it was the best ever!!!!

We were guided up to the open aired reception desk and offered Fanta, the country's signature drink it seems. They had a food stand just with a quaint restaurant that faced toward the ocean. Just past the reception desk is a few massage tables and chairs where they offer various massages, manis/pedis and foot treatments. It was all open air which was really relaxing in giving you a natural outdoor feel.

The room we had was quaint with a flat screen tv, comfy bedding, a fabulously working air conditioning unit and perfect little balcony that faced the ocean, perfect for sunsets. Be on the look out for little visitors, we had a gecko that came in, we carefully escorted him out and he scurried away. Those are the little joys of staying on an island!

At night they remove the beach chairs and have dinner on the beach, it's truly beautiful!! The food is great, we had a coconut milk soup and pad Thai noodles that both were awesome. Wonderful drinks, and very nice service.

I am an early riser so it is always great to see how the establishment gets the property in order also. The staff would clean up the sand along their beach and sweep all walkways and paths. Very nice since this is an island and can get pretty dusty and sandy quickly.

My husband and I got the one hour foot massage, which was pretty relaxing. The hour seems like eternity for some reason.

We enjoyed our stay at Lima Coco and would like to try their other Lima Bella also since we had such a good experience.

Spent a few days at Lima Coco, and would recommend it to everyone. Excellent food, great service and super beach! A bit offside on the island, but gives a nice secluded feel. Since it is on the west side, the sunset is spectacular!!

An average place overall which is overpriced by Thai standards. To be fair to Lima Coco, Ko Samet seems expensive on the whole however.
The hotel is fine. The rooms are ok and clean (we saw two), with nice views. The beach is fairly clean and the water is stunning (crystal clear). The beach area in front of Lima Coco is small for the size of the hotel, however, and there are resorts side-by-side all the way along the beach. At the weekend, it can get busy. This is not a hideaway where you'll feel away from everything.
Beware also of bites. I suspect there are sea lice here. I got more than 40 very itchy bites on my back and the back of my arms, which I think were while I was playing in the sea with my toddler.
I emailed the hotel to ask why there are no warnings and they failed to reply. They also don't pick up the phone. There's a vague warning on a sign board in front of an adjacent resort saying "The resort is not responsible for skin irritations". A suggestion they know there is a problem.
The staff at Lima Coco I found to be friendly overall, unlike other travellers posting here.

If you are going to Koh Samed to relax and enjoy your holiday, please avoid this place. There location is excellent, quite clean strech of the beach but so the neighbouring hotels like Le Vimaran ( where i stayed last year) were so much better and professional. We had a booking for two nights for two room from agoda, and we were informed by the hotel that the boat for lima Coco leaves at middday sharp. So we arrived there at 12.03 pm after battling horrible Bangkok traffic, and asked the receptionist at the peer if the boat has left, and she said no its still waiting, but as we arrived 3 minutes late, the price per person has just been doubled specailly for us!!!. After arguing for 10 minutes and the boat waiting at the Pier and threatning them with cancellation of rooms they agreed that only a 50% surcharge for coming late would apply. My holiday was ruined at Lima Coco from this point onwards. The staff was rude argumentative, and unprofessional. Since i had prepaid my rooms i stayed there for two nights but never again.

Room Tip: Try booking another hotel
