“Lovely hotel....”
Reviewed 11 December 2013

I had an opportunity to spend 4 nights in TwinPalms Phuket during my honeymoon back in Nov´13 and loved the hotel! Service is outstanding and staff very friendly. You are welcomed with refreshing towels, champagne and flowers! Very nice touch!
Rooms are big and very clean! A few steps from the beach and you can use Bimi Beach and Catch Club... Surin beach is much cleaner, private and quiet than Patong...
The only thing I want to suggest is to breakfast time.... They could start the breakfast time 30 minutes earlier... We´ve booked some tours during our time in Phuket and had to eat a little bit fast due to the pick up time.....

I can't say enough good things about this property. I'll start with the one less-than-5-star part: value. In Thailand terms, $270/night for a basic room is obviously not cheap. Then again, for the service they provide, and compared to US rates (or even other hotels in Surin like Amanpuri), it's a steal.

The service you will get here blows other "fancy" hotels I've stayed at totally away -- The Wynn, any Four Seasons, the Plaza. Not only do they think of every little touch (mangos to your room in the afternoon, porters available 24/7 for water delivery, etc.) but they don't make it seem like it's a big deal. Their service is friendly and low-key, without any hint of pretension.

The hotel is beautiful, with small buildings clustered around a huge central pool and a high-roofed main building. It has a large, modern gym; great breakfast buffet with lots of local fruit, rotating Thai and Western dishes, pastries, smoked salmon, and more; good dinner options (Oriental Spoon for Thai or Catch on the beach for Western); and three amazing beach clubs a short walk away. Catch, Bongo, and Bimi are located side-by-side on a perfect stretch of golden sand at the end of Tonsai Bay; the perfect turquoise water is bathwater warm with perfect waves; and the attendants come by with sliced watermelon. I mean, what could be better?

We loved the hotel and location so much we extended our stay two extra days. The rooms are large, modern, and quiet, with sliding doors and balconies facing the pool. Some lucky rooms have swim-out steps from their deck. This is nothing like some other parts of Phuket (namely Patong) -- it's refined, luxurious, quiet, relaxing, I'm running out of adjectives. If you come to Phuket for relaxation (as opposed to bar girls) and you don't stay here, you're doing something wrong.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a swim-out deck!

We checked into Twin Palms for 8 nights as part of our honeymoon. We opted for a Grand Deluxe Lagoon Pool room which was amazing - room was huge, tastefully furnished and very clean. The open plan bedroom which joined the large dressing area and bathroom which was airy but private. Our room opened on to a large terrace style private patio which you could enter straight into the resort pool from. The outdoor patio had a couple of lounges and plenty of room to relax out of the sun. The patio also had folding grill style doors which could be opened/shut for extra light/privacy/security etc. The cleaners were very efficient and prompt and the rooms were checked several times a day.

The rest of the hotel was also fantastic - good facilities, bars and restaurant (Oriental Spoon) and the staff were fantastic all round.
We would strongly recommend the Thai cooking class at the Oriental Spoon! Great experience!

We also regularly used the hotel car (taxi service) which was again well priced and very comfortable.

Surin Beach is a great place - perfect to relax. Lots of bars/beach clubs and restaurants on the beach front and only a 30min drive from Patong if you feel the need to check it out.

All in all we had a great stay and were sorry to leave. Will definitely be back next time we visit Thailand.

I have very mixed feelings about this hotel. This was my second visit and I feel certain aspects have deteriorated. Granted, my first stay was in the duplex penthouse and the hotel was not full and this time I was in a regular delux room and the hotel was in peak season. This visit I noticed that service was rather inconsistent (on the whole very good and most staff are excellent however, during check-out, we were not even thanked or asked how our stay was - I was the one to say thank you and the check-out person simply said nothing in return!). Overall, the hotel just seems to have gone very mass market and lost an air of exclusivity and service that it had. Entering the rooms, I was annoyed at the sense that they were trying to sell me something at every corner (forget the usual beach bag / insect repellant for sale - the hotel had placed t-shirts, caps, shaving kits, dental kits 'for sale' in the room. I find this beyond annoying. This is a luxury hotel - do not try and hard sell me in my own room while I am on holiday. Furthermore, when I asked for an iron, i was asked to sign a paper saying I would pay for any damage to the iron. This is the first time I have been asked this at a luxury hotel (or any hotel). I don't think the people that stay at Twinpalms make it a habit to purposefully 'damage' irons and so don't need to be treated like children with such nonsense.
These negatives aside, we still overall enjoyed our stay. Breakfast is excellent. The location near Surin Beach is a highlight and the access that the hotel gives to the Beach Clubs on Surin is great. I urge management to not let standards slip and to pay attention to the details that matter.

We stayed in the Twinpalms hotel at Surin Beach for 5 nights. The reception area is open and cozy, the staff is very friendly and helpful, the pool is big and very beautiful. To our surprise we were updated to a deluxe room which is very comfortable with a big bed and a huge bathroom. The breakfast was included in our booking and is very recommendable. The buffet is great, with fresh eggs any style, waffles, fresh bread and fruits, cheese, noodles and and and.... very tasty. We did not use the spa area of the hotel, however when looking at the offers, we realized it is pretty expensive for Thailand.
The hotel is not directly located at the beach, however this is not a problem and as far as we know all hotels are not directly at the beach. You can walk to the beach in a few minutes on a walkway and at the beach you have two beach clubs to relax and enjoy. We mostly stayed in the "Catch" beach club since the other one "Bimi Beach Club" is playing pretty loud music and therefore is not that relaxing. So we can really recommend to stay at Twinpalms :) Just a few negative remarks from our point of view. In the room you have a beach bag, insect spray and the like which you can buy. They all have a ribbon around with the price and in case you break the ribbon you have to pay it. Furthermore, when checking out they send the cleaning lady to check the minibar, even though you indicate that you did not use anything the last night. Additionally, when paying the bill with credit card they recommend to pay the amount in your local currency, meaning not in Thai Baht. However, this is not favorable to clients from an exchange point of view. Therefore we think this is misleading for the customer and not appropriate. Nevertheless, the stay in Twinpalms was fantastic and we would stay there again.
