“Cozy hotel with excursion possibilites”
Reviewed 7 May 2014

We spent the first three nights of our honeymoon at Tenta Nakara, and enjoyed the feeling of being far away from the bustle of cities. We also went on several excursions with their long tail boats, which included swimming at remote locations and seeing the "James Bond Island".

The staff was very friendly and helpful.

Be aware that since there is limited access to electricity on the island, there isn't much in the way of air conditioning.

I've been there last November. I spent 2 nights honeymoon.. It was really amazing and very peaceful living in such a place with the sound of nature only..
The food tasted nice but extra expensive..
Arrange the transportation with hotel wile reserving.
Value for money.
Don't spend more than 2 nights as it will get boring because no activities to be done on the island.

Room Tip: Take the 1st raw rooms as they are closer to the beach.

Tenta Nakara was our second stop while visiting Thailand. We arrived there from Bangkok and departed to Phuket following our stay. After visiting all three locations, Tenta Nakara was BY FAR our favorite and we found ourselves wanting to go back even once in Phuket. The seclusion and beauty of the resort is complemented by the friendly/helpful staff, the great food and the painfully wonderful beachside Thai massages. We traveled with our two 5yo daughters who enjoyed the beach, endless snorkeling and the novelty of sleeping in tents. My wife and I slept well each night listening to the sounds of the ocean and the surrounding wilderness. What an experience! We can't wait to visit again in the future, a definite must for those who love the outdoors and want to get away.

transportation from ao por pier to the hotel and vice versa costs 1200 baht (=28-30 euro) fairly expensive! and from phuket intl. airport to ao por pier costs an additional amount of 600 baht. During our stay (2 nights during march 2014) the sea was rough and windy to swim and sometimes dirty due to the currents. The staff was friendly, helpfull but needs a lot of practice in english (a common issue in Thailand). The next beach on the island, is about 1 hour walk through the steamy and thick jungle, not an easy approach and hard to find the way. The island is most secluded even though so close to Phuket, the village is 1 hour away through a path with no signs, no light at night just meer jungle. Nothing to do at night when the lights go out at 10.00. On the other hand, the tents were very nice, quite spacious, clean and no insects as we expected when we chose to stay at a place like that. The bungalows/tents up the hill where we stayed had very nice view especially during sunrise. Food was very tasty, typical thai dishes (though a little bit more expensive than in another places in Thailand). Thai massage was very very strong, and my boyfriend had issues with his ribs for 3 weeks. (but the location was beautiful just off the beach hearing the waves). Overall, it is a jungle island, very nice and relaxing IF the sea is ok, travelling to/from phuket is very expensive. From Ao Por Pier you can go on an excursion to Phang nga bay, a very beautiful trip!!

Room Tip: upper bungalows have nice breeze and view

Tenta Nakara is perfect for a chill out holiday.....thatched roof tents on stilts (to stop those snakes entering....and there are snakes, we saw some!), no electricity or hot running water. Yet this 3 day stopover was the best part of our Phuket holiday. The kids loved walking from the restaurant at night with the oil lantern, trying to spot the toads and lizards. The beach is great when tide is in for swimming and great for beach combing when tide is out. It does get a lot of rubbish washed up, you can help the staff clear it everyday. They have plenty of lounge chairs to relax on, and your tent platform also has a hammock and lounge chair. It is a great base for gong on a tour as the pier is only a 15min boat trip away. The restaurant had fabulous food and great breakfasts. The massage shack is also reasonably priced at 500 BAHT for an hour or 700 for 2 hours. Staff were always so happy to help and happy in general. The owner was staying at the same time and he helped us pick out tours to go on, he was a lovely person.

We were genuinely sorry when our 3 nights were up....especially so after going to Patong and realising what a horrible, crazy place it was...we just wanted to go back to 'our' little island!
This style of holiday is not for all, just remember that you are staying in a tent so YES you will be awake at the crack of dawn. You are staying on a tropical island, so yes it will be hot and you don't have air conditioning or a proper fan. Yes, your noise and your conversation can be heard with your neighbours. Noise after 10pm is discouraged so do not come here expecting to party. I guess mattresses aren't compatible with an outdoor bedding style so the mattress is like a wooden plank....it wasn't as bad as it sounds tho. There is only cold water, so brace yourself for quick showers in the morning! And conserve your phone battery as you can only charge it during electricity hours. If you don't mind any of the above, you will love Tenta Nakara.

We fully intend on going back for a couples trip very soon....we can get much more reading and sleeping done without the kids!

We stayed there for one night only because we were hesitated and not sure about the place. It was a huge mistake!!
TenTa Nakara IS for everyone!! Everyone who likes nature!
It is a place to go to relax and to run away from the busy life. it is romantic and you can chill and enjoy the view.
The beach was really nice and private as well. the stuff were really nice and helpful. The food was delicious and the cocktails were tasty.
The tent was simple and cozy! You feel like you are back in time when electricity was unavailable and other complicated stuff too.
The walk to the village was lovely and especially to see the amazing pier there.

PS: I you are not afraid of dogs, I suggest you to take one of the dog there (the resort has 2 adorable dogs) on a canoeing trip.
And don't forget to bring a torch, because it is really dark at night and you can use it while walking around.

The only two complains we had that to bed was HARD!! Like really HARD!! and too many steps to the room and it is quite dark at night.

This is the first place we stayed at in Thailand. It was a wonderful place to relax and escape from city life. Stunning secluded beach to relax. Staff were very friendly and food was great. This is not the place if you are looking to party, but you would be mistaken to give it a miss. A must place to stay for dog lovers as the 2 resident dogs Chaya and Dara made our stay that much more enjoyable. This is a very rustic place with limited electricity and simple amenities, but that is its charm.
