We had spent the previous six weeks traveling through South East Asia and before moving onto Australia we decided to stay at Tenta Nakara. It was the best medicine for weary travelers. We’d loved our trip but we had been moving constantly for six weeks and my brain was on overload trying to soak up as many experiences as possible and then it all just stopped – we stepped onto the island and everything was quiet and peaceful.

We stayed here for 2 nights on the 4th and final leg of our honeymoon and after 15 nights already in Thailand we were about ready to go home... but we're so glad we didn't!!!!! I don't really know how to explain this place, its not flash, its hot, no hot water, no electricity, no tv, not even a swimming pool! But it is by far THE BEST place I have ever stayed at during my travels in SE Asia. A part of me even now is saying 'don't tell anyone, keep it to yourself!' This place really is a small piece of paradise.

There are a million positives about this place I don't know where to begin... the friendly smiling staff, the private beach perfect for swimming at high tide. The friendly dogs that belong to Nakara (and even a couple skinny strays from down the way that wait on the beach happily for their master to return home from work at sunset) and the abundance of hermit crabs making their way from one shell to another. The highlight for me was going squidding in the middle of the night in a kayak, one of the staff (i think, we couldn't understand a word either of us spoke haha) took me out and we got about 6 squid, one even bit him while he was showing it off haha. With so many positives all I can say is we all felt like family staying there, from the staff to other guests. It feels like it could be your new home and you almost feel like getting in there and helping with the dishes... almost ;-)

The ONLY negative I have is the lack of variety on the menu and that's probably only because by that stage having spent 17 nights eating thai food all i wanted to eat was a plate sized chicken parmigiana from my local pub!

Room Tip: We stayed by the beach, its a bit of a climb up the hill to the rooms with the ocean view.

That was the final part of my first visit to Thailand so I've had a first experience of Thai hospitality with previous places before my coming to Tenta Nakara Resort and Restaurant.
Coming there was launched from Ao Por Pier and have moved me to Primeval Excellence right with my first step to that piece of Heaven on the Earth.
The primeval nature is fully surrounding that wonderful place with nice natural bungalows, voices of rain forest and ocean.
As the traditional Thai hospitality is the main principle of any place I've seen within all my previous staying to Phuket so the same care was taken place to the Naka Yai Island.
A very attentive and friendly staff with nice ladies Elle and Mon at the reseption desk, kitchen service staff with nice pretty lady so young and attentive to any client's request and even their amicable dog in connection with all the closed naturality and sincerity was deeply impressed all my essence.
At the same time to that escape from reality there're quite enough activities with amazing excursions and journeys which are possible to book right at the reception desk and besides you'll be informed about the optimal time for your booking in connection with the other people to avoid any extra expenses for boat or any other transfer.
Highly recommend to see:
Phang Nda Bay; Panyee Floating Village; James Bond Island; Nail Island; Tham Lod; Koh Panak; Koh Hong and other islands with their unique nature and spirit.

Room Tip: Ask for a room near the restaurant

We spent the first three nights of our honeymoon at Tenta Nakara, and enjoyed the feeling of being far away from the bustle of cities. We also went on several excursions with their long tail boats, which included swimming at remote locations and seeing the "James Bond Island".

The staff was very friendly and helpful.

Be aware that since there is limited access to electricity on the island, there isn't much in the way of air conditioning.

I've been there last November. I spent 2 nights honeymoon.. It was really amazing and very peaceful living in such a place with the sound of nature only..
The food tasted nice but extra expensive..
Arrange the transportation with hotel wile reserving.
Value for money.
Don't spend more than 2 nights as it will get boring because no activities to be done on the island.

Room Tip: Take the 1st raw rooms as they are closer to the beach.

Tenta Nakara was our second stop while visiting Thailand. We arrived there from Bangkok and departed to Phuket following our stay. After visiting all three locations, Tenta Nakara was BY FAR our favorite and we found ourselves wanting to go back even once in Phuket. The seclusion and beauty of the resort is complemented by the friendly/helpful staff, the great food and the painfully wonderful beachside Thai massages. We traveled with our two 5yo daughters who enjoyed the beach, endless snorkeling and the novelty of sleeping in tents. My wife and I slept well each night listening to the sounds of the ocean and the surrounding wilderness. What an experience! We can't wait to visit again in the future, a definite must for those who love the outdoors and want to get away.

transportation from ao por pier to the hotel and vice versa costs 1200 baht (=28-30 euro) fairly expensive! and from phuket intl. airport to ao por pier costs an additional amount of 600 baht. During our stay (2 nights during march 2014) the sea was rough and windy to swim and sometimes dirty due to the currents. The staff was friendly, helpfull but needs a lot of practice in english (a common issue in Thailand). The next beach on the island, is about 1 hour walk through the steamy and thick jungle, not an easy approach and hard to find the way. The island is most secluded even though so close to Phuket, the village is 1 hour away through a path with no signs, no light at night just meer jungle. Nothing to do at night when the lights go out at 10.00. On the other hand, the tents were very nice, quite spacious, clean and no insects as we expected when we chose to stay at a place like that. The bungalows/tents up the hill where we stayed had very nice view especially during sunrise. Food was very tasty, typical thai dishes (though a little bit more expensive than in another places in Thailand). Thai massage was very very strong, and my boyfriend had issues with his ribs for 3 weeks. (but the location was beautiful just off the beach hearing the waves). Overall, it is a jungle island, very nice and relaxing IF the sea is ok, travelling to/from phuket is very expensive. From Ao Por Pier you can go on an excursion to Phang nga bay, a very beautiful trip!!

Room Tip: upper bungalows have nice breeze and view
