“Happy Honeymooners!”
Reviewed 22 February 2014

My husband and I stayed at the Banyan Tree in Phuket for four nights during our honeymoon, and we loved our experience there. We stayed in a a Small Villa (without a pool) and took full advantage of the beach, pool, spa, and golf course. We loved the daily breakfast and ate at all of the restaurants, and we were blown away by the service. Of the three spas we went to in Thailand, Banyan Tree definitely had the best.

Dear Miele86,

Thank you for recounting your honeymoon experience with such lovely happiness and share your review in Trip Advisor. It really sounds like you two had a fantastic stay from the first to the last minute, including delicious dining at our restaurants and some well-deserved spa time at our award-winning Banyan Tree Spa. Although you have enjoyed many different aspects that make our resort unique, many of our other guests do find that with each return trip, there is always something new to discovered. I hope you will join us again to celebrate your anniversary this time in a Pool Villa or a Spa Pool Villa.

Miele86, thank you for your stay at Sanctuary for the Senses and congratulations both of you on your new journey.

With my best regards,

We have been 2 times in February' 2014, and Banyan Tree Phuket was a good as it used to be before. It is a paradise. The hotel' s villas and facilities are kept and maintained perfectly, staff members are well trained and friendly. The only negative comment is about the complimentary bicycles: hotel provides the simple and basic model to the guests to use, and, more importantly, all the bicycles are unsafe (breaks do not work properly). I hope that the management will rectify this. I guess that most of the guests would be happy to pay a reasonable fee and get a good quality and safe bicycles.

Dear Mikhail1970,

Thank you for reviewing your recent stays here at Banyan Tree Phuket. It was terrific to read that you felt it as a well-kept and perfectly maintained Paradise, and truly appreciated the constructive feedback regarding the bicycles’ condition. I remember speaking to you about it during breakfast. With the popularity and convenience of the bikes, we have now a dedicated bike mechanic working on a daily basis to maintain the bicycles in the best working and safety conditions, particularly on the breaks rectification. Obviously due to the direct 24/7 exposure to the weather it is an ongoing process. Safety is of utmost importance and we thank you for your feedback.

Milhail1970, thank you once more for having shared your experience with the Trip Advisor readers and for choosing Banyan Tree Phuket two times in a row. It would be our sincere pleasure to welcome you back for your future holidays.

Sincerely,

Highly Recommended. High levels of service and a beautiful location around a lagoon, with a short walk to an excellent sandy beach. We upgraded to a pool villa and having our own little pool and cabana was a wonderful option from the mail pool and the beach. We also liked the option of drinking/dining in the beach cafés. Agree with other reviews that a little maintenance needed here and there but that adds to the charm of an established hotel.

Dear Kevin G,

Thank you very much for staying with us and for posting your experience for other travelers.

I am glad to read that you found the Pool Villa a great option to enjoy the privacy peace and tranquility of the Thai “Sala”. Proximity to the beach is surely one of our best liked features but, consistently higher rated than that is our service levels and our associates. We are truly proud of that.

Dear Kevin G, thank you once again for choosing to stay at Banyan Tree Phuket and we are looking forward to pamper you to the Sanctuary for the Senses.

If you really want to stay in an outstanding hotel - assumed you have enough om your bank account, then the Banyan Tree in Phuket was a perfect choice. Extremely friendly staff, overwhelming service, and also perfect food are available. Impressive rooms not to forget!
And we should not forget the SPA, which is also number one, and is the idol of many other hotels, which try to get to this level, let's say they try... (Excellent is not enough to chgaracterize this Spa)
The only tear in your eye might be coming, when you see the bill, but as I said before, if you have it on your bank account, just go!

Just stayed five nights here in a small pool villa which we were fortunately able to upgrade to upon arrival as our Jacuzzi suite did not work for us. I highly suggest going the pool villa route if you stay here although they are expensive rooms the pool villas make the stay more memorable. The villas are all aging and a bit worn (the couches in both our rooms were stained and frankly not what you would like to sit on). As the beds are sunken the climb out is a challenge but the beds are comfy. The bathroom set-up is fine with dual sinks, a nice shower and an outdoor tub that would be better as a shower but the concept was good...small deck area beside a small pool works well but if you want sun you need to specify as not all enable sunbathing. Many excellent restaurant choices although plan on paying a premium for the experience. Food in general was excellent, hotel staff are all very well trained and professional, and Sarah was exceptional. Some of the villas are very far from main building requiring long walks or waits for the frequent shuttles. The beach is quite a long way from most villas and the main building, and the hotel offers no on-beach food/drink so you have to bring cash and use the numerous small local restaurants/bars for eating and refreshments. The hotel does have a towel hut with friendly staff to assist with beach chairs/towels, etc., and provide chilled towels. The beach is amazing with little to no wave action, completely sandy beach and warm, clear water. I believe this is the best beach in Phuket and was one of the best beaches we have seen which is a huge plus. Our overall impression of this property was up with the top resorts we have ever stayed at and we can't wait to go back again. I recommend using their car service, although the Taxis are definitely above average in Phuket. Although the hotel is expensive, you at least feel good about the high cost after you leave which is not always the case.

Dear Scottyp2014,

I would personally like to thank you for taking your valuable time to write your valuable feedback in Trip Advisor about your recent visit to Banyan Tree Phuket. Your comments and suggestions are very important for us to improve our performance and ensure that all our guests’ Banyan Tree experience matches the expectations.

I have taken good note of your comment on the overall villa and couches’ conditions that I have discussed with the Rooms Division Manager and Head of Housekeeping and Engineering to take address them in the Villa maintenance schedule.

I truly appreciate your feedback on our wide restaurants’ choices, the excellent food and the great value for the money you paid. This underlines how such matters are so subjective as the prices now are same as in low season and we find certain guests finding us expensive. However, I have noticed that you missed one of our USP’s - our In Villa BBQ experience - Hopefully in your next visit you can enjoy a great freshly cooked dinner in the comfort and privacy of your villa with a personal chef. Thanks for complimenting Sarah, for her professionalism and by extension her colleagues in front office and F&B that support her.

Concerning our beautiful beach services and facilities, I would like to mention that it is a public one, therefore we do share the spaces around with local business, including restaurants. Nevertheless, our F&B options in the area are limited to the In Villa Dining Menu offered by our beach attendants who also provide towels, chairs, magazines, cold towels, etc., however food orders take 30 minutes to be delivered because food is prepared in the hotel while the local restaurants are few steps away. And I do agree that this may be the best beach in Phuket.

Dear Scottyp2014, we look forward to your return to Banyan Phuket and to having the privilege of being of service to you again soon.

Warm regards,

Sriram Kailasam

The reason for being in Phuket was for a triathlon being held in the Laguna resort. Having stayed in a Banyan Tree in the Seychelles previously we thought it would tick all the boxes for a great holiday. On arrival we were upgraded to a 2 bedroom pool villa which was perfect due to the bike and extra gear we had to bring. The layouts of the villa is extremely private and spacious. It wraps around a good size pool which has a table and chairs, sun beds and a large lounge bed. There is also another outdoor structure with funky wicker beds and a fan above. Inside the villa there was a small kitchen, dinning and lounge area looking out over the pool. Although the decor is what to expect of the Banyan Tree I thought some of the furniture looked a little dated and tired. There were some stains on the sofa area and the tables had been knocked about a bit. The main bedroom and bathroom were spacious and well equipped. They have a great attention to detail and each night a small gift was placed on the bed. Wonderful little souvenirs to keep. We did encounter a small problem with maintenance men working on the next villas roof which gave me and them a shock as they had a clear view looking down into our pool area and directly into the villa. The noise became a problem and over two days we had to ring a number of times to get them to stop and get down from the roof as it was impossible to layout by the pool. In the end it was address and a bottle of champagne was sent to our room as an apology.
The villa facilities mean you shouldnt really need to venture out but main pool area offers a change of scenery and a good size pool to swim in. Unfortunately whilst we were there some construction works was taking place so the noise was unbearable so you wouldnt sit there. The public beach is just across a narrow road and there were a few restaurants/bars with lots of sunbeds and shades to sit under.
The spa treatments are extremely good and the gym facilities are what you'd expect. We dinned in all of the restaurants. The service and food was brilliant and I had wished we were staying a little longer as they had so many amazing choices on the menus. As there were 4 of us we had a in-room bbq one night and we all really enjoyed the food and there were lots of it! The cafe is a nice place to have lunch and watch the golfers on the last hole.
As its a large resort having the bikes to ride around is good fun and that little bit of exercise means you dont feel guilty eating so much.
Overall the Banyan Tree is a great hotel with faultless service. It just seemed like a lot of maintenance work taking place throughout the hotel and the peace and quiet we all longed for was not to be.

Dear GlobeTrotter010,

On behalf of all of us here at Banyan Tree Phuket, I would like thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts and provide a review of your experience with us. We know you have many options within Laguna when you travel and we’re honored to have been your host on your recent visit during the Laguna Phuket Triathlon.

I was pleased to read that the four of you enjoyed your stay with us overall and gave us high marks on the different aspects that compose the hotel services and villa facilities. Thank you for the detailed description of the layout and variety of amenities of your two bedroom pool villa. It was also great to know that its space worked out perfectly for the bike and the extra gear. As part of our Villa maintenance program, we re-varnish our furniture and clean all the upholstery in the villa. However, the wear and tear does make it imperative for our Housekeeping team to pay closer attention to these details. Your feedback has been shared with the team. This year, we have been quite busy and as a result our maintenance program was delayed and was being rushed to prepare for our high season. Although we inform our guests of any noisy work that might occur in close proximity, I can only assume that it was last minute and the communication did not reach you. I apologize for this.

I do believe that being a Triathlete requires huge physical efforts that must be well compensated with good food and body relaxation and I’m glad to read that you enjoyed our Restaurant options, including the In Villa BBQ, and the extremely good Spa treatments accompanied with a great hotel service. Such feedback is the kind of gold medal we are proud to receive after working hard in creating a truly Banyan Tree experience to all our guests.

Globetrotter010; thank you once more for you posting your feedback. We all hope to have the pleasure of your visit again for the next Laguna Phuket Triathlon and Challenge Laguna Phuket Tri-Fest in November, where some of our associates take part as competitors, others as volunteers along the course and others wait at the finish line to handle the medals. It is a great environment to be part of.

Sincerely,

i stayed in banyan tree for my birthday this year.

because my villa was not available at the time i checked in, the hotel offered us a complimentary massage for one hour. the massage as well as the environment are very nice.

the villa is spacious and i love the pool. i could enjoy swimming and sunbathing in our private area.

The beach is beautiful and quiet. though it's a public beach, the hotel will still have service for their residence. worth spending an afternoon there.

good service and attentive staff. swift action upon request. the hotel also prepared a free birthday cake for me in my birthday in-villa BBQ. the hotel also sent me a birthday card and little gift as well!

the dinner buffet looked not attractive and so we went to other laguna hotel Dusit for dinner buffet (while other hotel offer a cheaper and nicer buffet with great environment). good that there is inter-hotel transportation. on another day, i had an in-villa BBQ for dinner. you would be having a quiet and private dinner inside the villa, nice and romantic. it's up to standard, but not very great in taste. breakfast is great, don't miss it.

the service, beach, food would meet my expectation. but the property is old indeed. low water pressure in shower, broken water tap, the outdoor pool is covered by mud, broken lock handle, DVD not working, worn and broken towel rack, worn curtain, toilet flushing is not working very well. with that level of price, the villa disappointed me indeed.

in general, i have a great and relaxing time in banyan tree. i would try other laguna hotel, or Banyan tree at other destination.
