“Getting spoiled”

First time ever that i went to a luxury resort, we stayed at a double pool villa - just marvelous. Our villa was 100m from the beach, we never made it:) Beautiful villa, larger and more luxurious than i could expect. The bed room in the double pool villas is the most romantic thing i ever saw. Some reviews indicate that villas might be run down but ours was extremely well maintained/fresh refurbished. My father loved the jacuzzi built inside the pool. Service was wonderful, enjoyed the food, especially the barbecue they prepared in our villa. Our butler gave us all the attention without being too much around. We stayed for one week, no problem to stay 4 weeks, only restaurant selection might become boring. The place is pricey but if you want to escape for a week..... and yes, would not go for anything else than the double pool villa. My parents visited the spa several times , they loved it (but then what should they compare it to)

BT Phuket is without doubt the best Overall experience in Thailand, if not SE Asia!
I stayed at the brand new Deluxe 2 Bed Pool Villa. I was the first to stay in this villa; I was without doubt flawless, the attention to detail is extraordinary. Having stayed in the 2 Bed Double Pool villas I would even go so far to say that it even surpasses Double Pool Villas on attention to detail.
Once again Hats of to Bernold Schroeder and Francois Huet for creating the ultimate hotel experience in Phuket!
Flawless, absolutely flawless!

We had gone for a holiday to Far East, i.e Malaysia, Thailand & Singapore. We had lots of fun in each of places and our last destination was Banyan tree in Phuket. It is the most romantic place that i have ever seen. It has the most beautiful villas with lake view that i have ever been. The location is most amazing. They have private swimming pool in each of the villas. They have boating and many other activities in the lake. It was our best outing in our whole trip. It is surely recommended for a beautiful romantic gateway.

We have just returned from the Banyan Tree in Phuket. We stayed for 10 nights. We stayed at the pool villa and we loved it. I really cannot and I emphasise cannot understand how can anyone complain about these villas or the resort. I do not think that staying in the spa villa is the only worthy thing to do. I honestly feel that people have so little appreciation these days for what's out there and instead of looking around and feeling the places and appreciate the nature around us, they complain and send out negative signals.

My partner is a chief executive and a chairman of 2 companies and is very much used to only high end places, restaurants and a very high standard service. We both are very well travelled. We both enjoyed our stay so much and except for couple of very minor things we had to point out to the hotel, we thought it was beautiful. The villa was absolutely clean. I do not uderstand how can anyone even say it is dated or it goes 20 years or 10 years back? I mean it is built a certain style, we actually thought the interior was slightly japanese style. Just beautiful. The decorations, everything so gently arranged.

The outside was beautiful too. Every single day in the heat and I am talking about 36 to 37 degrees, there were gardeners working hard. The trees, the flowers, the plants - everything had its place and it looked so elegant. Nothing over the top. And the staff greets you with a smile every single day from morning till evening, no matter where you are in the hotel, whether it is a manager or a gardener. When it comes to service, they were very very good. They dealt with our queries very fast and tried their best to meet our needs. Their English wasn't as good but hey, they could communicate and has anyone tried to learn a bit of Thai to actually go their way a bit?

The restaurants were all good. We particularly enjoyed the breakfast buffet every morning (fresh fruits, omelets, miso soups, ..) . We went to the Lotus restaurant for lunch once, which was ok. I wouldn't say it was amazing though. It was actually quite empty. We had mostly all of our dinners at the hotel. Yes very expensive. We tried all of them. We did not think the Saffron was the best, we found it quite avarage. We tried the healthy restaurant Tamarin by the spa a couple of times, we really enjoyed the Australian beef. We thought the best dinners we have had, were at the Water Court restaurant - especially the lobster salad as a starter and the steamed cod as a main meal. We did not think the Tres restaurant was as good.

We thought having bicycles available to all guests for free was an excellent idea and service offered by the hotel. We used them twice and went for a bike ride to the closest village. That was great. We also attended each morning the yoga/pilates classes offered by the best yoga teacher Bharrat, an Indian teacher, we have ever met (my partner has done yoga for a few years). That was excellent, shame the hotel does not promote these classes a ltitle bit more.

The beach was fantastic. The water, the sand, just perfect. They also bring you fresh cold towers with eucalyptus and pepermint sprays, which is really refreshing whilst lying in the heat.

We booked a boat trip with the hotel company's Laguna travels, to the Phi Phi Island and absolutely enjoyed it! Must go - the most beautiful beaches are there. We also booked the half day elephant ride, monkey and elephant show. That was great too. We went to the Simon's Phuket show performed by the Thai lady boys, quite an eye opener. We could not work out for quite a while, whether some of them were really men, because they looked so feminine but the driver confirmed that they were all men. Quite bizzar but must go to see it! It's an experience to say the least. Be careful after the show though, they ask you to take a photo with them but then they are very greedy after your money. We did not like Phutong town at all, it was so touristy and just not quite our taste. We loved coming back to our resort the Banyan Tree - peaceful, clean, just paradise simply said. We have met quite a few couples, who told us that they returnt to the Banyan Tree in Phuket year after year, one said that was their 7th year.

Bar Rim Pa restaurant, which is on the way to Phutong was a really nice place to eat outside the resort. It was actually recommended to us by a local friend.

It was interesting to read that it is has been built on what was swamp land and very carefully the resort has protected all the vegetation as well as the wild life.

I would absoutely recommend this to anyone who is looking to relax and enjoy their holidays in the sun and wants to be pampered.

....there is a trend emerging with the reviews here.

We just returned from a week in a Spa Pool Villa and it was indeed fabulous. I'm pretty sure that anyone who stays in a Spa Pool Villa or a Double Pool Villa is unlikely to be disappointed but if you book one of their 'regular' deluxe or pool villas you just might be.

My sense with the BT Phuket is that it is trading a little bit on past glories and the way it tries to keep up with some of the newer competition (Sri Panwa for example) is to keep raising the bar at the top end of their pricing structure - first with the Spa Villas (nearly ten years ago now) and then the Double Pool Villas (about three years ago). It's pretty clear from walking around the place that the rest of the resort is closer to 20 years old now and starting to show it's age. To be honest it does not feel particularly 'exclusive' or 'intimate' either as, once you are outside your villa, you very much feel part of a sprawling complex that is, itself, part of the wider 'Laguna' complex (or Theme Park!).

The food is excellent but expensive as noted in other reviews (we only ate in Saffron and Tamarind and preferred the latter for the variety of menu and location). The wine is exorbitantly priced - near £30 for an average New World wine and £25 for a local Thai plonk?! Lotus on the beach is worth the short walk but book or you won't get a great table (you want to be close to the beach rather than the house band!).

We would certainly recommend one of the Spa Pool villas (it had a few technological issues but nothing to detract from our enjoyment). The Double Pool villas are even more impressive but not sure worth the extra cost for a little more living space and a wading pool in place of a more attractive lilly pond in the Spa villas. Had we stayed in one of the smaller villas, I don't think we would have been quite so pleased with our stay. You pays your money you takes your choice as they say...

We travel all over the world and the Banyan Tree remains my favorite hotel for tropical vacations. This particular hotel was featured in Robb Report as one of the world's top resorts and it didn't disappoint us on our honeymoon. We chose the spa pool villa - your own private swimming pool, with a bedroom surrounded by glass on 3 sides so you can see your beautiful garden. It was absolute paradise.

I don't understand a couple of the other reviewers who said it looked a bit old or worn. I'm sorry but they must have been at a different hotel. This really is the ultimate in luxury... for a price. It is not cheap. We paid $800/night for the spa pool villa, but I'd do it again in a heartbeat. Each day our jacuzzi was filled with rose petals, surrounded by it candles and had a bottle of chilled champagne next to it. Our bed was also covered in rose petals. It has to be one of the most romantic experiences and vacations of my life. I can' imagine anything better. Everything about this hotel is beautiful, including the massive banyan tree at the hotel entrance. Splurge and go for your own private pool if you can.
