“Truely Amazing”
Reviewed 12 April 2011

I would like to say to all the travellers out there, this place will knock you over. We had Pool Villa - small house with pool and ocean views. I was so worried about the food etc in Thailand - I can laugh now as this place was wonderful and the food superb.
The General Manager personal greeted us when we arrived which I thought was just such a nice touch. Mr. Lark was so warm and welcoming, I felt like I was in Australia.
Trisara is six stars....I felt totally spoilt and they exceeded my expecations in everyway.
I would really try this place if you want privacy, amazing food, and wonderful private beach. They even help you when you go to the airport - they take your through the lines and take you were you should go. The hotel concierge drive Volvo SUV.
Trisara is located on a steep hill with unlimted views of the ocean. We enjoyed our three days there.

We decided to book a couple of days at the Trisara because their nice presentation on their website and a good review in Luxx. They really lived up to our quite high expectations. The residential villa we stayed at was fantastic. The food was superb and the staff was excellent. We could not have asked for anything more. We strongly recommend this hotel both for couples and for families with chlidren.

We spent a bit more than a week at Trisara in March, having a wonderful holiday in one of the best hotels in the world.
Welcome
We felt very special arriving at Trisara, being showed around by a very friendly woman, greeted by everyone incl. GM . In the room flowers, cookies and fruit + a welcome card were waiting for us. The enjoyment could begin!
Accommodation
We were in an ocean view villa which was absolutely stunning! Very large with huge bathroom + outside shower, lots of storage space in the wardrobe and a very large inside living area with huge, comfortable bed, inside sitting area, the best silent air condition plus a large outside terrace for dining and lounging and the biggest private pool we have ever had in a hotel. Absolutely great, though the style of the furniture (modern Thai, but still a bit “heavy” and not really up to date) was not my favourits. I also missed the inside-outside living that many SE Asian resorts offer. At Trisara you would either be inside the villa with doors closed or outside at your terrace. Sliding doors and more windows could have made this feel different. I would also have liked a more comfortable place to sit outside at night. The double sun beds at the terrace were quite hard and not perfect to sit in for reading/talking at night. Something like the lounge sofas at the beach with pillows would have been much better. Also the light outside was not good enough. It was really a bit too dark for reading, and also for outside dining. They offered us candles, but still we did not really see what we were eating.
Service
Trisara offers excellent service. There was never one little mistake done for orders in restaurant or in room dining and all our requests were immediately taken care of to our full satisfaction. Also housekeeping, drivers, the girls at reception and beach personnel were among the very best we have ever met in a luxury hotel.
Beach and pool
Coming from the dream beach at Amanpuri, we were quite disappointed about the quality of the beach at Trisara. It really does look better at the pictures than in real life. It is only swimmable at high tide and the quality of sand is not soft and + there is quite a bit of coral in the sea so that it can hurt to walk in the sea. Instead we enjoyed the main pool at Trisara a lot which is really excellent with different sections and great sun loungers and umbrellas.
Food
At Trisara there is only one location for lunch and dinner a restaurant which offers inside and outside dining options and an international/Thai + a grill menu – both with lots of choices. We would have preferred a choice of restaurants with different ambience/location. .
Quality of the food was, however, very good, especially the Thai starters.
Spa
Visited the Trisara spa tree times (massage, Sodashi peel and wrap + Sodashi facial). While the quality of the treatments was excellent in both hotels, I have seen spa designs/ambience that has appealed more to me.
Gym
Again, coming from the fantastic gym at Amanpuri, we were not blown away with the gym facilities at Trisara. Room quite small, often no personnel there and not a gym that makes me want to work out also when on holidays. The tennis courts and table tennis + Thai boxing lessons were highly enjoyed by husband and son.
Outside Activities
We left Trisara four times:
- To see the Phantasea show: Very Disney like location with little shops and exhibitions to see. Great for kids. Show itself really well done, enjoyable for people at all ages.
- Lunch at nearby beach: Went there by boat and spent a nice afternoon at the beach, having lunch and drinks in the little beach bar. Good beach and service.
- Snorkel trip to island nearby: Not really recommended compared to snorkeling other places. Some fish and corals etc., but no wow.
- Private half day boat excursion to Phan Nga Bay (where James Bond Island is): Highly recommended. Spectacular islands and cliffs, very fast boat (40 knots, meaning we would be able to avoid hordes of tourists and get around very quickly from sight to sight) and excellent service. After seeing the sights, we were taken to a dream beach where lunch was being prepared for us under a tree, very memorable.

Children friendliness
Some kids, but not many at this time of year, at Trisara. This would be very different during main school holidays we were told. Kids welcome in room, kids menus, kids club with activities or computers/wii etc.

***
All in all: Highly recommended

We just returned home after a month of traveling in Southeast Asia. We spent our last five days at Trisara and it was the perfect ending to a wonderful adventure. Trisara is listed as a 5 star resort but it is far beyond that. We have stayed at a number of resorts that are considered 5 star but none compare to Trisara.
The suites were unlike anything we have ever seen. There is not a detail that has been missed. The view from the bed looking out to the infinity pool and the ocean beyond was incredibly romantic. We especially enjoyed the outdoor rain shower which was completely surrounded by a tropical garden.
The accommodations were extraordinary but we were especially impressed with the professionalism of the staff. From the moment we landed at the airport and were taken to the resort, we felt totally pampered. Because the resort is quite spread out, it was most convenient to take a buggy from the room to the restaurant or the beach. We never waited longer than two minutes for a buggy when calling the lobby for a ride.
We had some good meals and some not so great during our month of traveling but the food at Trisara was, without exception, absolutely delicious. There were numerous choices on the lunch and dinner menu and everything was superb. Breakfast also had a variety of main courses with fresh fruit and fresh juices and a delicious selection of breads and pastries.
We were told that the resort was about 80% full but we never felt crowded. There were more than enough chaise lounges and umbrellas at the pool and plenty of lounges and umbrellas all along the private beach.
One of the reviews mentioned the noise from wave runners but in the five days we were there, we only saw them once for about ten minutes.
We borrowed the snorkeling equipment from the beach staff and walked out to the end of the resort pier. There were lots of colorful fish to see. We did not take the resort boat out to the little island to snorkel. Instead, we booked an all day snorkel trip out to four islands on the other side of Phuket, which was really lots of fun.
The only negative is that you are isolated at Trisara and quite a distance from any other restaurants or shopping areas. We did take a taxi one evening to a restaurant in the Laguna area called Lotus. It was right on the beach and specialized in seafood. But we were so happy with the view and the food at Trisara that we decided to eat the remainder of our meals on property. Just wait until you see the view from the patio at sunset.
Phuket is a long distance from our home, but if we were ever to return there, Trisara is the only place we would want to stay.

This is the most blissfully romantic place on earth. Everything, and we mean Everything is utterly perfect.

As centurion Amex card holders, we are often recommended to sensational accommodation all over the world. Trisara takes hospitality to the next level. We felt "taken care of" in a way that goes beyond standard 5 star expectations. The visual beauty of Trisara and the entire staff creating it, feels almost like being a guest in a living breathing art form.

Reunited in love after 27 years and 10 minutes, we had our second-date-back-together at Trisara! We returned on Valentine's Day this year for our honeymoon. These 2 weeks have been absolutely flawless.

Superb views of the ocean & sunset from our infinity pool private villa, with our favourite beds and bedding anywhere and everything on hand - including refrigerated chocolate truffles, the exquisitely prepared food, the genteel ease of all the staff, the grounds, which are magnificently kept, the way the resort is laid out creating a peaceful privacy for each guest whilst retaining its energy and sensuality and brilliant spa and massages, are some of the many reasons we are in love with Trisara.

Happy Ever After

This hotel is beautiful but there was just something missing. It felt like the hotel was all about physical appearance but no soul. Perhaps its just too new. The food was excellent, especially when compared to the Four Seasons resorts I've stayed the past few times. However, they seemed to have a staff issue over high season. Every time we complained about something they said they were sorry but understaffed. The gym was messy, towels on the floor and they ran out of water bottles not just on one occasion. We had a talk with the hotel manager who copped an attitude when we complained that our staff in our 4 bedroom villa obviously had no previous waiting experience (although the food was delicious and they were very friendly). This of course is not the fault of the staff but a management problem. We did however enjoy our stay in the end as the issues we had were minor.

Expensive but worth it! You really feel like you are in a top class hotel. We stayed in a 1 bedroom villa with a private pool and had a 2 year old child and a baby with us. While not a traditional family type hotel it has an excellent kids club and typical thai service ie friendly, welcoming, nothing too much trouble and they love kids. We were trying to get away from the traditional family hotel and this was great. The private beach was quite and the staff even surreptitiously move your umbrella round so you stay in shade. They kept the ice cold Singha beers coming but staff were never in the way I almost felt like I was on a deserted beach at times. The villa was exquisite and was completely private and not overlooked. The private pool meant we could keep the kids entertained while we just relaxed and room service was great. we were able to borrow DVDs from the hotel library and spend cost nights in watching the flat screen and ordering thai delights from room service! At over US $1000 per night it is expensive but you get what you pay for.
