“Five star all the way”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 August 2012

We took our young family on a recent trip to Phuket, and the Trisara met every expectation. We sought good views, ample space in the rooms, great food, great kids club and I have today there is little to complain about.

The room we chose was just as described, everything worked, the little touches for the kids was cute. The private pool came in handy for the kid, when we were too lazy to head to the main pool.

DVD library was extensive, and so were the books and music library.

Food options were plentiful for a short stay of 3 days.

Staff were friendly and discreet.

Overall worth it and hope to be back soon.

I was lucky enough to win a free weekend in a private pool villa last year. Of course the hotel is amazing and if you are looking for 6 star fuss the this is the place to be, however, it did take us nearly an hour to finally check into our room as we were greeted by the manager...clearly trying to sell us hollywood priced massages (4500 for a foot massage and 3500 thb for a childrens package too). There will be plenty of Singaporeans who wont find the prices that outrageous but for somebody who knows how much a Pad Thai costs to make, to then sell it for nearly 1000thb is simply impossible to bring myself to eat it...let alone order it. I am not short of a bob or two but I cannot bring myself to pay these prices. We have stayed in numerous small boutique hotels accross Thailand and had fantastic service, rooms and food for a third of the price. I will say one thing though...I decided to go nuts before our wedding and get a bottle of champagne out of the mini bar fridge...I think there was a mistake with the bill as it was only 4000thb...probably cheaper than any restaurant I have been too! The only other downside of the hotel is that it is full of a certain type....rich, look at me, look at my watch...I am too rich to smile etc! If you can put up with that then you will be fine. The breakfast and the selection is without doubt the best I have ever had anywhere in the world.

TrisaraManager, General Manager at Trisara Phuket, responded to this review, 31 August 2012
Dear AdamBKK290,

Thank you for sharing your comments. I’m delighted you found Trisara to be amazing and that you and your companion enjoyed the prize of a pool villa we donated to your companion's staff party in Bangkok.
In response to you your specific comments:

The reason our Resort Manager and I do our best to meet guests upon arrival (or on the first day) is to provide a sense of welcome and establish a relationship, offer our name card and in general be there if they need us. I have never seen this take an hour and it is simply incorrect that we use this opportunity to hard-sell spa treatments or any other services to which you elude.

-For the sake of clarity, allow me to address the specific pricing issues raised in your comments.

1. Our Spa prices are similar to those at any other 5 star hotel on Phuket. I realise that you can get a foot massage for 300 + baht on the street or in a local massage place, however it’s comparing an apple with an orange. Trisara’s award-winning spa uses pure and chemical-free products and of course the spa itself is a destination with each spa suite a haven of luxury and tranquility. Our therapists are also regarded as the finest on Phuket and we are proud of the quality of the experience.

2. The cost of a Phad Thai noodle dish at Trisara is not 1,000 baht, it is 550 baht. (Our Phad Thai is famous and people often come specifically to order this)The menu prices here are similar to that charged at other nearby hotels and in many cases we are actually less expensive. We conduct regular surveys to ensure we are not over-priced. One surely does not expect the prices at a place like Trisara to be the same as local restaurants.

3. There was no mistake with the price of the French Champagne you consumed from the mini bar and I’m delighted you found it to be good value for money.

I can’t comment on your opinion of the other guests who were staying at the same time, yet I meet most of them and our guests are generally a happy, friendly and unpretentious crowd.

I hope this addresses your concerns.

Sincerely

Trisara Manager

My husband and I just finished a 4 day stay at Trisara. The entire experience was outstanding and far exceeded even our highest expectations.

We stayed in an ocean view pool villa and it was incredible. Upon first entering our villa, we knew we'd be content just passing the days away there. The rooms and deck have a very smart layout which maximize the panorama of the ocean past the infinity pool. The pool is quite large and we especially enjoyed the 2 sets of sun loungers, (one set in the shade and the other in the sun) and the outdoor dining area. The bed is positioned such that it feels like you are staring out at sea. From what we could tell, each villa offers the utmost privacy and seclusion. We did not hear or see another guest during the duration of our stay.

Though there is only one restaurant, the selection of items is plentiful and the quality top notch. We appreciated that the room service menu was much different than that of the restaurant for dinner. It was nice to have that variety. The a la carte breakfast was also fantastic.

The little touches are also worth mentioning and include a nice straw beach bag with bamboo handles which guests are offered to keep, homemade cookies and island fruit refreshed everyday, and most importantly a very friendly staff. The general manager and many of his senior staff are highly visible and make every effort to make guests feel welcomed and cared for. The perfect finish to our trip was when we received a call offering us a late evening check out to correspond to a late flight back to Seoul we had that evening. This resort is organized, efficient and makes you feel personally cared for. We cannot wait to return!

Room Tip: Ocean view villa was well worth it!

I have always wanted to try Trisara and during our family trip to Phuket in february the hotel we actually had booked messed up our reservation so we found ourselves without a hotel booking for two days. I thought this might be the sign I was waiting for and called our travel agent. They got us a fair deal for two nights in a two bedroom residential villa and wow, were we in for a treat. We were picked up at Renaissance where we were staying for the first couple of days by the hotel car. Upon arrival we were warmly greeted by the manager, the checkin manager and the guest relations manager. After a tour of the premises and a lovely lunch poolside we were whisked away in two buggys to our "room". And what a room that was. As we arrived to the villa we were met by the villas full time maid and our private chef during our stay. We couldn't believe it was true. Our chef, a charming lady asked us if we had any special preferences and offered to cook us what ever we wanted during our stay. As we were offered ice cold welcome coctails we started to plan our lunch for the next day. The Villa was absolutely huge. Two bedroom suites. A dining room seating 14 persons at least and a very large living room. The kitchen was hidden in the back and I guess it's not built for the guests to spend much time in as the villa comes with a personal chef. The pool was enormous - 18x5 meters. A very generous terrace with lounge chairs and a dining table. All very secluded and private. Restaurants was very good and the staff all over Trisara is the best I have experienced in any hotel ever. The beach is not very good for swimming so most stay by the pools. Our first evening the hotel had put on a small seafood barbecue beachside. Don't miss it what ever you do. A small buffet and the most amazing fresh seafood prepared to your liking by chef. As we had dinner the worlds largest private yet mored outside the hotel and it's owner, a russian gentleman, was seated with his entourage at the table next to us. What a night! Breakfast was extraordinary. Not the largest selection i have seen but everything was of top quality. This hotel is very special. It feels very intimate and all the staff has a wonderful way of making you feel special in a very laid back way. It is a fine line between delivering top notch service and at the same time not being to much. Here you felt like a friend being invited rather than a paying guest at a expensive resort. A very special hotel indeed. It comes with a cost but it is definitely worth staying here for a few days and experience Thai luxury at its very best.

We stayed for five nights at Trisara in December 2011.

It was a seemless experience from start to finish with caring staff, solid dining options and one of the best resort room offerings anywhere. In particular, I enjoyed--which is rare for Thailand--the overall sense of privacy and serenity of the resort. This is definitely amongst the very best properties in Asia.

Room Tip: Oceanview rooms on the property's second tier offer better value still with sensational views an...

We have just returned from spending an amazing 5 nights at Trisara. Every single moment spent in the hands of this hotel has been brilliant. All the things you expect from a 5 star hotel were impeccably done or presented as mentioned in the other reviews. What sets this hotel apart from others is the little touches. Pickup from the hotel, ok cold towels and bottled water but an ipod with playlist selections! A complimentary large woven beach bag to carry all your things around, fresh exotic fruit, cookies and chocolate truffles replenished everyday, late checkout are just a few. Our ocean view pool villa was perfect to while away the time. There is actually no reason to leave your villa and nothing is too much trouble for the staff. Everyone of the hotel staff greet you with a friendly smile and in a traditional Thai manner, even down to the gardeners and maintenance guys. The various resort managers do go out of their way to greet you when you arrive and periodically address you by name throughout your stay to check everything is ok. Food and service was great, although due to the low occupancy staff did tend to hang around the table waiting for you to finish before whisking your empty plate away. The experience was similar when we tried out the in villa BBQ.

A morning excursion on a sport speed boat and lunch on the beach was full VIP treatment.

The spa and gym facilities was brilliant. The treatments we had were ok. I was surprised we didn't get to select the oil in the Aromatherapy oil massage as you would normally and my understanding of the therapist question and explanation on the Thermal Facial was so way off I can only advise anyone who gets claustrophobia or doesn't like their face being covered up not to have this facial. I can only describe it as having your face wrapped up like a mummy with just your nose poking through and plaster of paris painted on so you have no sense of light and your mouth is totally covered in this paste that suddenly warms up and sets hard for possibly 20-30 minutes. I did at one point want to rip it off. Although the results were pretty pleasing.

I have always said that the true test of a hotel is if you encounter a problem or there is a discrepancy with your bill. Some noise from maintenance in the villa next to us and an offer not being applied correctly on the bill unfortunately occurred. Both were settled immediately, a complimentary sparkling wine to apologise for the inconvenience and full re-inbursement on a bottle of wine for the meal in question. On both occasions management personally apologised for the problems. I have never experienced this level of customer service, efficiency and professionalism before in a hotel. Trisara gets top marks for showing how it should be dealt with and how easy it is to put things right.

We really didn't want to leave Trisara and would return at the drop of a hat, it was truly a little piece of paradise.

Room Tip: Ocean View Pool Villas are certainly worth the extra.
