We were very pleasantly surprised and totally amazed at the treasures spread over three floors including Terracotta Army larger than life figures and statues of ancient Gods, Buddhas etc paintings etc all for the entrance price of 50 baht each!

Thank Christine F

This temple and museum was a lovely find. The Tourist Information Office mentioned it in passing, "oh there is a Chinese Temple here" and pointed it out on the map. Since it is not well known it can be a little difficult to find.
Getting there on foot. It is easily reached from UD Town. Start at MacDonalds at UD Town and walk along Phosi Road and cross the railway tracks. After maybe 200 metres you will see a ceremonial archway on your left. Walk down this road and you come to some nice buildings with pretty gardens on the right hand side. This is the Museum, although it is not well signposted. I simply walked into an area where I saw a pond and a nice lady stopped and explained to me that the buildings were a Museum of the history of the Chinese in this area and it was open and free to visit.
The walls are surrounded by motifs which I assume document the history but they are in Thai. Pretty rock gardens with waterfalls and a fish pool make the complex an inviting place. One room is dedicated to some history of Chinese settlement and the Princess Bajrakitiyabha who works in this area. I didn't quite see the connection but the Princess does good works and is popular.
As you exit this room the long building to your right is the museum proper with an entrance about half way down. I was greeted at the door, asked to sign a visitors book and then a lovely girl showed me around. Her English was not great but she battled on for a while before admitting defeat and letting me read the interpretive panels, which are in Thai and English and I think Chinese. The Museum is on 2 levels and very tastefully put together, it covers the settlement of the Chinese in the area through to modern times.
Well worth a visit. I was not asked for a donation or entrance fee, but gave my guide some money anyway, which was gratefully received.
Once you leave the Museum you can continue through to the temple proper. These are also quaint and feature a large pavilion, I assume for functions and gatherings, a pavilion on the lake reached by a zig zag walkway and several places of worship.
You can extend your trip and walk right around Nong Bua Lake.
