we stayed for 2weeks augs sept, we found the hotel well designed well thought out. the main building spacious and clean ,our room was nice and bright ,clean and had no problem getting clean sheets or towels, although the towels were grey and rather thin.i found the beds very hard and the pillows deffo needed changing.we really did nt have too many problems until you wanted a drink from the main bar or a meal in dinning room. The bar staff were rude unfriendly ,unhelpful and totally unprofeshional. My husband went to get pre dinner glasses of wine and came back with half full PLASTIC cups,of wine, when he went back for another he said in a glass ,which was produced from under the bar,we found out they save them for the french when they run low.we had loads of bad instances at the bar,too many to bore people with. The worst thing of all was the dinning room, the waiters were lovely worked hard but were let down by total lack of organization, every day we had to ask for bowls, spoons, tea bags cups ,people were drinking from soup bowls ,there were never any teaspoons, one morning i went for breakfast no bowls no cereal no spoons and i was told they had ran out of ordinary teabags.we were all inclusive but if you wanted orange juice you had to pay for it or have fizzy orangade ,We stopped going in for lunch because icould nt stand the strain.Dinner was nt much better popular dishes of food were gone and you had to go and find someone to refill.once or twice you could cope with but this went on day after day.On several occasions i saw people complain to the dinningroom manager and all he did was tear a strip of the overworked waiters, when i would have though that was his job to make things run smooth.but he just strutted around trying to look important. The first week we were there it was busy the second week it was packed out so it just got worse, there was one day when everything i went for was nt in its place and in a very calm person but id had enough and almost stood and screamed to make someone sort things out, instead i wrote in the comment book exactly what i thought and left. When you go AI eating is a bit part of your holiday, well it completly ruined ours,we left feeling absolutly streesed ,neadless to say we wont be back ,even though hotel good, pool super,i could nt stand it

I have just spent a week at the Vincci Djerba Resort , from 27 August to 3 September. I was on holiday with my husband, my daughter and her two young children aged 4 & 5 . I had read all the reviews before we travelled and they were very mixed so I didn't know quite what to expect .As soon as we were dropped off by the transfer coach we we greeted by the reception staff and offered a cold drink while we filled in registration forms. We were then shown to our rooms which were on the ground floor in block 3 and were adjacent just as we had requested .The rooms were fine , clean and typical of other 4 star holiday hotels I have stayed in .Every day of our holiday the sheets and towels were changed , with swans etc decorating the beds. We found the food very enjoyable , there was so much choice ... For nreakfast there was cereals , continental, gorgeous pastries, pancakes and omelettes cooked in front of you , scrambled boiled and fried eggs , what more could you want . Lunch and dinner also had loads of choice , always spagetti bolognaise and carbonara and pizzas cooked in front of you , always a Tunisian speciality , which was very tasty and a variety of different stews, chicken ,fish, rice, potatoes, vegetables. I sm quite fussy and as I said we had two young children with us and every meal time we all found plenty of things we liked . The food was not cold, the food was not raw as so
someone has written .The waiters worked very hard , they were polite at all times .We had no problem with the language barrier , most staff in the hotel spoke some English and we used our basic French to speak to them. Why do English people abroad exprct everyone to speak our language? What's wrong with us trying to speak theirs? Part of travelling abroad is learning about other cultures , and during our week my two grandchildren joined in the kids disco every night which was mostly on French and enjoyed it very much and learned the names of parts ot the body in French from one of the song/dances and also learned that bonjour is hello in French . The animation team were excellent , working very hard all day with water polo, aquagym , kids disco , showtime every evening and always smiling and friendly. I really do not know what the people who have written bad reviews were moaning about, how they can say any member of staff was rude I cant understand .Everyone working there smiled and said hello or bonjour , the English were absolutely not treated any different to the French, which someone had previously written. We had a wonderful family holiday in a lovely hotel with excellent staff and the biggest most beautiful swimming pool I have ever seen .Rachid the Thomas Cook rep was one of the best I have ever come across ,I have been on many package holidays and I work as a Travel Agent so I think I know what I am talking about . I would not hesitate in returning to the Vincci resort and would recommend it to my customers.

just got back from a weeks holiday and wont be going back, when we booked this holiday thomas cook told us that this was up and coming resort how wrong they were.firstly unless you are french you are treated differently the staff do not or wont speak english and the french get better service all round, many times at the bar the french got served first and this is when you are in a queue.my first time at the bar i asked for a large beer only to be told i would have to pay if i wanted a pint glass, you were given your drink in anything they could find ive had beer in a barrel glass, wine glass, tumbler glass, along glass and then a white plastic water cup yes a white plastic water cup when we complained at the bar the staff just shugged there shoulders
the food was not good and we and others ended eating out,for breakfast you could have eggs, cheese and cerials and the toaster did not toast and at times you had to go and find bowls and plates as they were not put out for use. lunch and tea were not very good either although the soups were nice, the food was not hot and was nice to look at the same meat was served every day and from lunch it would appear again for tea, if you made a bad comment in the book on you way out of the restraunt the page was ripped out
the rooms were large enough our toilet kept breaking down but at least they did come and repair it,on our first day we found the balcony was very dirty with bird muck and feathers and it took 3 days to be cleaned.the hotel has many cats around and they leave there mess where they want but it help if people stopped feeding them.
now the good things....the pool is very very good and plenty of sunbeds around the pool
when i put my concerns to my rep he appeared not to care in fact the point about the plastic cups he called me a liar he said that never happened.this is the first time ive ever posted a bad report and i hope i never have to post another

If you have booked this hotel with Thomas Cook, go in and change it asap! its 100% NOT a 4* hotel. it is a 2*. I dont know where to start..... how about the good bits.

Most staff were friendly towards us and many were very good with our 16 month old. The main part of hotel ie lobby and main bar are OK. the pool is large and always free sunbeds with a lot of shade (good for young children.) decor around the pool is nice with nice flowers every where. Breakfast is good a lot of choice.

now the bad stuff. The room was probably the worst part of the holiday, the worst room we have stayed in. the bathroom was terrible, old, limescale, mould, blocked drains, sink stink was awful, towels never changed we had to request clean towles from maids which took a few times as dont speak english. The bath leaked one night after showers that it flooded the bathroom, we told reception and all they kept saying was move, move, move, not the best soulation with a baby who is about to go to bed so finally someone come out to fix it, didnt sort the smell though. talking about the smell, i over heard some guests being told that the smell was because something had died in the air con, probably a bird they said so to sort the problem just dont use the air con! Its a bit too hot for that rubbish advice and cannot believe a 4* hotel runs like this! we requested a mid floor, sunny balcony, sea view... we were given ground floor, no sun, brick wall view. the sheets were dirty, the beds were chipped with cobwebs and the cot my baby had to sleep i was atleast 30 years old. the pillows were like rock and we didnt sleep well. talking about not sleeping well, entertainment didnt start untill gone 10pm so me and my partner spent every night on the balcony looking at our brick view and for an all inclusive hotel buying a bottle of wine everynight (as we took the wine to our room we had to pay???!!!) we were woken up twice in one night, once at 3am the other at 5.30am, this was beacause of a faulty fire alarm that had been going off during that day as well, the scond alarm at 5.30 woke up my baby and that was us up at 5.30am. the last comment i will make about not sleeping well is when we went in to thomas cook to book this holiday the rep said to us what about tunisia, i said no i dont think i would feel safe considering the events in liyba, she said o dont be silly we wouldnt send you there if it wasnt safe. where we went is right near liyba and two nights we heard gunfire, i felt unsafe the whole time.
the restaurant has flies everywhere and on the food. the highchairs were broken and really really dirty, i felt bad that i had to put my daughter in them. Most nights i struggled to give her dinner as the veg either didnt taste right or was brown! One night i was excited for grilled chicken we saw, i got three bits and cut into the first piece to give to my daughter only to find it was completely raw inside, this was shocking. i called the waiter over to show him but like most staff they do not talk english and just shrugged and took it away.

lastly i didnt think the thomas cook rep was good, he was from tunisia himself, i couldnt understand him, didnt feel he wast approachable, i saw him arguing with a guest one day and because of him not understanding my partner when he was giving our names for the pick up coach we nearly missed it which would have ment missing our flight.

This wasnt how i wanted to remember our first family holiday and are 100% complaining and demanding money back.

Thomas cook are a complete let down.

Trip advisor should not be used for neggative reviews only, which it seems it has.
Me and my husband stayed here for 1 week (which was long enough for us) we gad a lovely time and allthe staff we're very friendly especially the animation team. If you are a fussy eater then you may struggle with the food but personally we found there to be plenty of choice at all times of day. Yes the staff speak mainly French but with a little patience everything can and is explained in English. Overall we had a brilliant week.
