“Superb holiday”

The Vinci Djerba is a lovely modern hotel set in a number of blocks throughout the gardens, we were in a block at the bottom of the garden, it was lovely, there are little gardens inside the blocks with palm trees growing in them, the room was nice with large bed, and a sofa bed, it was cleaned everyday, and our maid was nice and very pleasant, and she spoke to us in her best English which was easy to understand, the food in the dining room was nice plenty of choice, the entertainment team were good and worked very hard, they spoke mainly French, but, if you spoke to them in English they would reply back in English, we really enjoyed this hotel and this island, and a trip to the nearby town of midoun for the market is a must, as is a visit to the crocodile park, both trips by taxi cost about £2.00 each way, the price is per taxi and not per person as in other countries although they expect a tip, we just gave 5 dinar each way, this covered the fare and the tip, drivers happy, the beach is a short walk from the hotel, although there is a noddy train runs from the hotel every half hour, the rep Angela was very nice, and helpful, would definitely go back again.

Firstly, I think it is unfair to rate this hotel as anything less than good.. If you’re looking for a holiday to just chill out and enjoy some sun, with a nice (huge) pool, good food and alcohol, and a great beach nearby for a decent price.. You should book here!

Me and my boyfriend came here for our first trip to Tunisia the last week of August to literally laze about for a cheap week away, and we loved it here. We were greeted by the Thomas Cook rep Andrea, who seemed very approachable and friendly, and although we never had to use her for anything, we felt like we could have if we needed to. The hotel itself is absolutely huge, I was suprised how many people were there! The rooms are fine, and cleaned daily. The pool is massive, really nice! got to be a key feature of the hotel, with loads of sun loungers all around it. The food was good, some days better than others and generally we preferred lunchtime food, but there was always plenty to choose from. As well as the restaurant there was a snack bar open in the afternoon which was good so you could get food outside of the meal times. With lunch and evening meal there was always a full bottle of water which was good and definitely needed as it was so hot! If you ask for wine… you get a bottle! We were impressed with the alcohol as it was good and strong and they are generous with their measures! We found the AI alcholol better than other All Inclusive hotels we’ve been to. Yes some cocktails you had to pay for (12 dinar which is about £5??! Hardly breaking the bank!) but there were also some on the All Inclusive menu and we felt it was a pretty good selection. During the day there’s all sorts of activities going on in the pool and around the grounds of the hotel, which you could choose to take part in but weren’t pestered. (we were far too lazy to!)

We absolutely loved the hotel’s private beach, which was also All Inclusive so beds, umbrellas and drinks were free. We went down on the little train that goes from the hotel and took about 3 minutes and although we never walked it, we heard it only took about 10 minutes to get there by foot. Well worth it, beautiful beach and clear blue sea, and lots of camels and horses roaming around!

One of the reasons we didn’t rate this hotel 5 stars was because really, outside of the hotel there isn’t a lot going on, a few shops and the beach round the corner. For us this didn’t really matter because we only went for a week and just wanted to chill out. But if you're wanting nightlife outside of the complex, you won't find it here! Another reason would probably be entertainment, it seemed to be the same entertainment team doing a different show every night (they did try their best bless them), we watched it once but weren't too fussed by it and preferred to just sit in the bar area with a few drinks and to be honest, we were perfectly happy doing that. The entertainment did seem to be mainly aimed at the French, the main tourists there, with odd translations in other languages-we gave it a miss after the first time but other people might enjoy it!

The main language spoken by staff and tourists was French, and the staff do have limited English but they did try and they would always say Hello and how are you, which is more than we could say in their language!! We found most of the staff to be polite enough and the waiters were smiley and friendly and they did their job well.

Tunisia itself is SO cheap-we transferred £100 each at the start of the holiday and really struggled to spend it! We went on a trip to Djerba Heritage where there’s a Crocodile farm-15 dinar, and the taxi to get there took about 5/10 minutes and cost 3 dinar which is about a pound! We just gave him a 10 dinar note and told him to keep the change which seemed nothing (less than 4 pound in English money) and he was chuffed! Likewise with buying presents and things we ended up rounding everything up as it was ridiculously cheap. We tipped the maids 10 dinar at the start of the week, and a couple of waiters/barmen and they treat you with a more cheery service (and stronger drinks) we found!

Overall, we really enjoyed our week at the Vincci Djerba and aren’t sure what more people want from their holiday. For the price we paid we were impressed. If we were to come back to Tunisia we’d definitely stay here, so if you’re easy going and just looking for a nice place to stay in the sun, I’d recommend it.

honest review - stayed here 17th aug - 31st aug 2013, me, my husband, and 3 children aged 12, 7 and 2 years.
ANDREA our thomas cook rep was not nice at all and came across very obnoxious and a know it all. You could not go to her with a problem......if you did you would be basically told to go away and get on with it!!!, i kid you not.
of 14 days of being there, she was off a total of 6 DAYS!!, NO HELP WHATSOVER.
We arrived at around 1am in the morning, as you can imagine very hot, we were told to fill more forms in, was only given 3, we kept asking for 5, eventualy everyone was given theres and checked in with wristbands and because of the language barrier, we were still waiting, after asking several times, we did get some after poiting at forms and ourselves to show the unhelpful men behind the counter, we did get them and was last to check in and get wristbands,,,,,, we was not greeted with a drink or anything to eat, then had to take all luggage and kids ourselves to our own room, there was no porters and we didnt have a clue where we gonig!!!, where we were squashed like sardines, we piad for a family room, they basically gave us a 3 bedded room and squashed another 2 more beds inside!!!, to top it we were right next to the el theatre (where yu have your welcome meeting) where there was wedding going on!!!, music went on till 3am on morning, with no warning.....we just wanted to go to sleep!!! we were so tired i went back to reception to complain and was told to come back in morning, i stood my ground for quite some time but they didnt understand me, i had to give in and complain at welcome meeting next day.......there were also other british customers complaining also about there rooms, we were trying to explain for each other, it got us no where till next day though. next day came and i complained to ANDREA.....who basically told me it was a wedding and not to worry it wont happen again, i complained about room being sooooo small and although my 2 year old son has dissibilites was told, NO ROOMS AVAILABLE, sorry and that was it....a couple of days later we spoke to our fellow british tourists, who had complained about their room and was given a 2 bedroom apartment for 4 !!! we had 5 paid for exact same room and hadnt been moved!! was told no rooms available which was a lie!!, the other british family who has bee moved was told my ANDREA....(thomas cook rep) .NOT TO TELL OTHER BRITISH TOURISTS THAT SHE HAD MOVED THEM!!!...CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT????, eventually after lots of complaints and begged to move hotels she suddenly had a 2 room apartment for us!!! which was soooo much better, i could go on and on and on, but i will try and paragraph them

hotel run kids club....reps speak mainly french, forms to fill in are french...very hard to communicate, they left my child who went in for 2 hours crying, they should have got me,,,,but chose not too so my 7 year was inconsolable when her daddy picked up and begged not to go back in there as she was asking for mum and dad as she didn't like it, they couldn't understand her and my daughter couldn't understand them!!!, rep was told, complaint was issued,

pool....very big, shallow at both ends, pool was one of best parts!!

things you have pay for......as its not ALL INCLUSIVE AS ADVERTISED a fridge 7 dinar day

fresh orange juice 2 dinar each morning

pancakes/crepes 2 dinar each (next to pool) each afternoon

cocktails at the bar??? YES YOU HAVE TO PAY FOR

gym... 10 dinar!! each session

animation team work hard, but if you dont speak french all you will get is hi or how r u, and that is all, so trying to ask for something?? no chance, my daughter 12 year old got ear infection and was taken to doctor,,,,,what a palava, she was injected twice in the bum with something we still dont know what it was!!! she was hyper each time for around 2 hours, and we got charged for the privilage!!! 103 dinar including medication, trying to get price and explain problem took 20 mins in itself, i didnt want to go as paracetamol an iburofen was helping her but telling ANDREA the tc rep she told us if we didnt see hotel doctor she wouldnt let my daughter fly!!! even though we had 6 days left of our holiday, she made my daughter go through all of that, WHEN THERE WAS NO NEED!!!! ANDREA YOU ARE A POOR REP, YOU DONT KNOW IT ALL,AND YOU NOT AS SPECIAL AS YOU MAKE OUT!!! NOT A NICE LADY AT ALL, OLD SKOOL REP, OBNOXIOUS AND RUDE!!!

90 % were french.....food was ok, we are fussy but did manage to find something to eat each day and on last day HUT (the one who always dresses up in different outfits) was the best, he tried very hard as part of the animation team and was the only one who did...on last day he opened up restaurant early to let us eat before coach came, he was the best and funniest person there!!!

a special message to the rodgerson and touluse families for getting us through the last week of our holiday, without them, we really wouldnt have coped and got through it!! it was hard work holiday with many laughs in between! THANKYOU BOTH FAMILIES for laughing and complaining with us....and also all the other families we met out there!!!.....would we go back....nope with no hesitation!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! put us off
forever......

lastly shows at night ALL IN FRENCH.....mini disco.....ALL IN FRENCH....kids club like throw your children about, kiss them and pat there bum!! very cringing and inappropriate behavior, some children would run away and didnt like it, even once picked up the children would scream but they wouldn't let them down, they would just wind the kids up

NOT FOR ENGLISH FAMILES AT ALL, ALWAYS A COMMUNICATION BARRIER WITH EVERYTHING, ANDREA ADMITTED TO US DJERBA IS AN UPCOMING ISLAND WITH ENGLISH ONLY BEEN COMING FOR A COUPLE OF YEARS, TRAVEL AGENT DIDNT TELL US THIS THOUGH.....NOUVELAIR RUDE AS WELL, AGAIN HARDLY SPEAK ANY ENGLISH SPOKEN, I CANNOT BEGIN TO TELL YOU WHAT THEY DID TO 2 PREGNANT LADIES, OUT OF ORDER!!!......LASTLY ISMAIL SMILE AND ABDUL, TRIED VERY HARD WITH OUR CHILDREN, ONLY ONES WHO DID AND HUT!!

Me and my boyfriend harry are both 20 years old, we visited Djerba last year in june and stayed at El Mouradi Menzel - It was absolutely beautiful and we loved every minute of it! Which is why we decided to come back this year. (10th august to 24th)
We were so excited to come back, when we arrived at the vincci resort there was no welcoming atall, no little snacks/refreshments or drinks there was just a warm bottle of water shoved infront of us when waiting for our wrist bands/room key at reception. Some of us got wrist bands but then they stopped giving them out - nobody explained that we had to come back and get them in the morning as they had ran out we just had to presume so. Nobody said hello or anything! i found it so rude and because of this very unwelcoming atmosphere i already felt put off by the hotel.
Me and harry were last to get our room key and were very tired at this point so couldnt wait to get to our room. All the lights were off for some reason so we were led to our room in the pitch black... We got to our room, it was very average and had a door leading to the opposite room in which we could hear everything from next door! I then noticed a horrible smell from the bathroom when i went to clean my teeth. The toilet was absolutely filthy like somebody had just been! It was disgusting and i was distraught, we packed everything back up and went to reception to ask to change rooms - at this point i could have cried i was that upset with how everything was going!
We had to wait half an hour to change rooms which to be honest, was worth it in the end as the next room was nice.
Everybody besides the waiters and cleaners are very rude! As an example, we had no dinars left so we both decided to exchange £20 each which got us 49 dinars each.. the lady gave us 50 and demanded we give her the 1 dinar back.. we explained we had no dinars left (which is obviously why we were exchanging money) and she tuted really loud and rolled her eyes at us.. i was in shock! The bar staff keep you waiting ages whilst they talk amoung themselves then somebody else will come up to the bar and for some reason they would serve them when they could clearly see you'd been waiting! I thought the whole thing was a joke to be honest. The customer service is terrible.

On the plus side, they do have a good variety of food which will suit everybody and there is some good activities to do, i strongly recommend the quad biking! The pool area is nice although we spent most our time at the beach because it was lovely. There are also some nice shops to visit outside the complex just a short walk away and also on the way to the beach which are all fixed prices. All in all we managed to have a good holiday but I would never recommend this hotel to anybody.
Djerba is a lovely place and if you're thinking of going i would recommend El Mouradi Menzel, it is absolutely gorgeous there :)

Not sure what all the Negative reviews are about?
Vincci is a clean and newly refurbished hotel. The food was great LOADS of choice and different foods from around the world every night.
The staff and rep go out their way to ensure you enjoy every moment of your holiday. Yes they do speak perdominently French but when you say 'Hi' they reply in English.
The room is cleaned every day with fresh towels, with lots of activities going on through out the day.
If you are after a holiday where everyone speaks English then book to go to Majorica, Djerba is an untouched tourist area and try really hard to accommodate your needs.
I would go back again with out a doubt.

Just come back from spending a week in this hotel with a seven year old and a 5 month old baby. If you are a fussy eating you may struggle with the food even though there is plenty of choice the food does actually taste nicer than it looks, the hotel is nice and the pool area is great, the hotel is very clean and you can hire towels for the pool, there is nothing on the outside of the hotel apart from a steak house which the hotel own. The down side to this hotel is the air con it does not work well at all. Some of the staff do find it hard to understand the English as they mostly speak French which there is a lot of. Ladies there is a hair dryer in the bathroom so no need to take one. I can highly recommend the spa treatments.

Room Tip: Make sure you do get the correct room as we paid for a family room but only ended up with a double b...
