This was unusual. We were delayed by 6 ½ hours (done that) and got out of the airport about 2:45am (done that) at a North African resort (done that 6 times). Pushed the trolley 400 yards from the terminal to the coach, found the luggage hold, the chap (driver ?) loaded it, a 2 second job, and made it clear he wanted a tip ! He didn’t get one from me, but plenty more were tipping him (a severely delayed flight remember). And no, he wasn’t the driver. If you are on a Thomas Cook package, be warned.

Arrived at the hotel approximately 3:45 am. The Porter who took our cases made sure we were in our room OK (he deserved a tip) and the waiter at breakfast who looked after us when we were there 3 years ago came bounding over to say hello, and then looked after us when he was on duty that week (he deserved a tip as well), but not the bag loader, no.

As we were very late Reception gave us the usual form on arrival and asked that we drop it in sometime the following day. I did this and arranged the safe at the same time – 2 ½ Dinars a day, just under £1. It is a combination one as well, so no key to lose.

I must explain we booked this trip very late, because the price was brilliant and we knew the hotel from 3 years previous. So we knew that it is not 5 star – it does not claim to be – but we were not to be disappointed with our week there.

Food – the main restaurant does all 3 main meals and the seating area is L shaped. The food area is not large, but they do try to have a reasonable variation of dishes. There is always a Tunisian dish available, and there is always “make your own” pasta and pizza (the individual “make your own” pizzas are only in the evening, and excellent. They start with a dough ball, and before your eyes …..). The menu is posted outside of the restaurant about 2 hours before lunch and dinner, possibly earlier.

There is a specialty restaurant serving, on alternate openings, a fixed seafood or Lebanese menu. We did not try it and cannot comment, other than we suggest you view the menu which is on display on the main reception desk.

Drinks – the beer is good, and at lunch and dinner you will be given a bottle of your choice (house red, white or rose). Do not be afraid to ask for a second bottle, this is not a problem. The beach bar opens at 9am and the pool one at 10am. The both close at 6pm. The main bar between the reception and the restaurant opens at 6pm. Sorry, I do not know when it closes . Some cocktails are included, but some are extra (like Mojito) which is displayed in the bars menu’s.

Wifi – this we discovered is available free in our room with more than adequate reception.

Room – small, but comfortable and clean. Remember this was a bit of a bargain for us – there were only 3 rooms available when we booked through Thomas Cook – so they were probably selling the least attractive rooms, but we cannot complain. Although we faced the front of the hotel this was an excellent sun trap in the afternoons.

Tips – of course staff will – politely – look for these, but there is a tip box to the right of reception as you look at it, so you can leave your odd currency for the staff teams that you feel deserve them, i.e. there is a compartment for bar staff, a compartment for reception staff, waiters, etc,

One final thing – are you on the Friday Thomas Cook Gatwick 9:35pm flight ? Pick up is about 7pm. So I asked about a late checkout, and was advised to ask at reception at 8 am on the day of checkout. So we did – and to have the room until 6pm was 60 Dinars – less than £25 at today’s rate of exchange. I do not know how many rooms they can accommodate or whether we were just lucky as our room was not occupied that night, but it is a very fair price and worth asking about.

Did we enjoy it ? Yes. It is a quiet area and not for everyone, but if you want to “flop” for a week it is worth considering. Will we go back ? Yes, definitely in 2 or 3 years, to see our our waiter friend is doing.

Room Tip: There are 2 floors. I did not find any lifts, so ask for a ground floor one if this is important

As I said in my title above this hotel is our little bit of paradise, we are flying out to djerba on Friday 6th june for the 3rd year in a row and staying at djerba beach hotel also for a 3rd time as we love it there so much. Me and my husband also go there with my son my mum and dad and there friends too, there is something there for all ages. We have only ever stayed in the garden rooms which are really quiet but are hoping to get a pool view this year as it so beautiful to look out on I have emailed them as it is our 3rd visit in 3years here they will see what they can do ( fingers crossed). Rooms always clean and the maids always do lovely towel art and leave rose petals on your bed also staff are friendly and food great something for everyone and lots of it, you would have to be a very fussy person to complain about the food. Reception staff are lovely too always happy to help. Must recommend the quad biking around the island well worth doing and seeing. Can't wait to be laying on my sunbed by the pool Saturday morning also lovely quiet beach too.

Room Tip: All rooms lovely but make sure your not next to the road side ones as we had that last year and coul...

We stayed at the hotel during the last week of May 2014. It was a short 35 minute transfer by coach and on arrival a drink was waiting for us and check in was quick and efficient. We had emailed in advance and asked for a room with a king size bed which is what we got.

We could not fault any of the staff at the Hotel. In the evening there was always lots of waiters walking around to get you drinks and in the restaurant the waiters were all polite, very efficient & most spoke very good English. We found that tipping them 2 dinars (approx. 80p) meant that they would wave you forward to a table and keep our wine glasses full.

We were very impressed with the food. It was all very tasty and always plenty to choose from. Even the freshly cooked pizza & pasta was to our liking.

The pool area was always kept clean and tidy and the huge beach is also well maintained. There were a few sellers on the beach but security kept them from approaching the sunbeds.

One of the best selling points for this hotel is the very friendly Animation Team. Throughout the day they are organising lots of activities, in the early evening they are encouraging people to get up and dance to the music in the main bar and at 2130hrs there is always show. The shows are the usual mix of dance and comedy sketches. Some of which are still making me smile now!

The wife was glad that she took her own hairdryer, extra coat hangers and a kettle. Some evenings there was a bit of a cool breeze. There are a few shops within walking distance but not much else.

We will definitely go back in the future and would recommend it to anyone looking for hot sunny weather, great food and entertainment.

Mainly booked to go to Djerba because of the weather - stayed 4th to 11th May, but we're pleasantly surprised with Sentido D/Beach. The staff were friendly, food fabulous - something for everyone even pizza and chips if you may be a bit on the fussy side. Fresh omelette cooked in front of you for breakfast, all kinds of salads, fish, chicken of an evening together with many dainty desserts to chose from along with ice cream and creme anglaise (custard to you and me). Our room over looked the gardens and was very quiet at night. Our only gripe would be the air-con which was not as efficient as it could have been. A lot of French families (their children behaved exceptionally well during our stay - some Brits should copy their example!) and Germans stay at this hotel but we found everyone to be very polite and friendly. The hotel is very clean including the pool areas and the animation team were great. There are plenty of things to occupy your stay Zumba, Volleyball, Tennis, Disco, etc but you were not made to feel awkward if you did not wish to take part. Just sunbathing and relaxing was brilliant. I did not think Mosquitos would be a problem, but they seemed to go for my OH in a big way, even though I took some "Mozzy Spray" perhaps consider taking one of those plug in things, if they are a problem for you. I would definitely return and recommend a weeks holiday at Sentido.

My husband and I have just returned from a week at Djerba Beach Hotel. I must admit I had never heard of this place until I booked it but what a find. The transfer time is only 35minutes from the airport situated with a variety of other hotels. (Be warned there are no shops and bars around so if you like to wander this is not for you)
The hotel itself is lovely rooms very clean and well maintained. If you are very particular about having a room with a view ask for a pool view. We had a ground floor garden room at the front of the hotel but as it happened we were a short walk from the pool and the same to the dining room, at the end of the day you only sleep in your room.
The staff were on the whole really nice and helpfull although we were only the second week of British in take and a lot of the staff did not speak very good English. Up untill now it has been a mainly French and German orientated clientel. Give it another 12 months and the English language will be more widely used I am sure.
The dining room was clean and the waiters very friendly although it was a bit cramped. Our waiter was called Ali and he was helpfull and friendly all week. The food was excellent and varied, good choice of different meats (a lot of turkey) potatoes done in a variety of ways lots of fresh veg. Don't expect full english breakfast but there was a chef on freshly cooked fried eggs and lovely omelettes. If you like your food well seasoned you will have to do this yourself as I don't think they use a lot of salt and pepper in their cooking. Do go and have your one free meal in the themed restaurant during th week the food is very good.
The animation team were brilliant thankyou to Leo,Red,Suzie and the rest of the team who helped to make our holiday enjoyable. There were plenty of activities like boules, darts, golf, aquafit, stretching and many others.
Be carefull in booking trips, we went on the Island tour which was recomended to us but we spent too much time on the coach and not enough time actually seeing the attractions. Apparently we were told after that you can hire a taxi and the driver will take you round and wait with you.
The pool area is very nice and pool wasn't too cold for the time of year. There is how ever a really nice indoor heated pool. The hotel is situated on the beach and if you don't want to sit by the pool the sunbed are free to use on the beach.
If you get the chance go to the spa and have aback and neck massage it cost £15 and is well worth the money. One thing I would say is the air conditioning is not switched on untill June 1st so it was a bit hot during the night. It was a bit of a pain having to get up early to get a sunbed because although there seemed to be plenty they soon all disappeared.
I would definately go back to this hotel.

Room Tip: Rooms on the pool side get the sun all day.

My husband & I stayed at Sentido Djerbe Beach hotel for one week, first time in Tunisia for us and would highly recommend this hotel for couples, I would say mature couples but there was a few young couples there. A lot of French & German couples stay at this hotel. The standard of cleanliness was excellent, the animation team were one of the best I have known, entertaining everyone from dawn to dusk! Absolutely amazing and so friendly. All the staff gave 150%, I cannot praise them enough. The hotel itself is very tastefully decorated and very Comfortable & Relaxing, lovely gardens & Swimming pool. As I have titled this review "first time lucky" definitely not the last.

Room Tip: Ground is very handy

My husband and I have just spent a lovely week at this hotel. It definitely is a 4 star, I wouldn't rate it any less. The food was amazing, and not one bit repetitive (unless you're a fussy eater!) Plenty of swordfish, tuna steaks etc, cooked from fresh right before your eyes. The staff at this hotel are wonderful and will go out of their way for their guests. It is very clean, as is the pool area and the beach. As you begin your transfer from the airport, you may have a bit of culture shock, looking at the surroundings. Along the roads and countryside there is rubbish everywhere, and you start to panic and think, "where the hell are we" then, as you approach the tourist area, you breathe a sigh of relief. You have arrived at The Sentido and everything is going to be just fine! There are a couple of things which I need to mention, which I also mentioned to management, but they are minor things...the beach towels are small and don't cover the sunbed, so take your own beach towels, also the beach towel hut is hardly ever open. The hairdryers in the bathrooms aren't the best, in fact they get too hot to handle, so I would probably take a travel hairdryer (of low wattage). The air conditioning isn't brilliant, we were ok and managed but I wouldn't like to be there from June onwards as it would be unbearable. The décor in the bathrooms needs updating and take some soap, as they have those silly dispensers on the wall.If you go to the spa, don't expect a proper spa, I had a nice massage but the bed was old and rickety and the floor was a bit dusty, not nice surroundings. If you just want a nice relaxing week, with lovely food, plenty to drink and guaranteed weather, then I would say "get it booked!" We didn't do any organized trips, but we did catch a cab from outside the hotel which cost just over £1, and went to the crocodile park (Djerba experience) it is well worth a visit. In all honesty, we were sad to leave the place and would most definitely return. One more point I need to add, there were no rude Russians!! The majority of the guests were French and very charming, friendly people.
