We booked at short notice and were amazed at the price and the quality of the hotel. The staff just bend over backwards to make your stay perfect. Thomson are such a great travel agent and everything comes up to expectations. The rep was great always available and visible (thanks Tracey). What amazed us even more was the director of the Hotel was in the restaurant constantly checking food temperatures and clearing tables when busy. He had his finger on the pulse all the time. The food was good a choice for everyone not as good as you get in Mexico but then we did not pay the same price but good for what we paid. Drinks were good and never stopped coming, wine with lunch or dinner was plentiful and the rooms were very comfortable even the beds. Even the weather was good and we got a 3/4 hour window everyday of hot sun. Well worth the price and yes we would go back again. Riu Thank you for a lovely holiday!

Room Tip: Try the bungalows

As a 73 year old who has travelled extensively, we consider this hotel to be one of the best that we have stayed in. Booked a short notice with Thomson, we had a very enjoyable one week stay. The lobby, patio, grounds and beach are extensive and kept spotless. The room that we had (1352) overlooked the car park at the front and did not face the sun. So in February, it was too cold (13 - 18C) to use the large balcony despite wall-to-wall clear blue skies and sunshine. The room itself had more than enough space and the bed was bigger than our king size at home. Service was excellent providing you continue to tip a modest sum for every service you receive (as is typical for this part of the world).
Things to be aware of -
The hotel is about 55 mins walk away from Hammamet to the north and Jassmine to the south. Not much in-between so taxis are required to move around locally. We walked along the beach but feral dogs were a hazard.
The separate toilet in the room had a basin with H&C water but literally nowhere to hang a towel so take a stick-on towel hook if you are fussy like us.
There was never porridge for breakfast!!
Having commented on the above minor negatives, the quality of the hotel, staff and facilities are excellent as reflected in my rating.

Room Tip: All rooms were of a high quality, but consider the time of year for whether you want the sun to stream into your room.

On our second visit in 4 weeks. All rave reviews are correct.Obviously we are more than satisfied with everything in this excellent hotel. However if you are bothered by hordes of children running amok over each weekend when lots of local families stay over from Friday to Sunday, you should bear this in mind when making your decision to stay here.
There appears to be no control over their behaviour and I feel that the hotel management should address the matter.Apart from this one annoying thing it's a smashing place to stay. The Staff could not be more helpful and Tracey the resident Thomson Holiday Advisor is the best we have come across.

Just returned after a 10 day stay at this wonderful hotel. We really enjoyed ourselves and could not fault this hotel or the service in anyway. Tunisia is a poor country but has some lovely areas to see. Our holiday was with Thomson and we found the whole package to be very good.

I returned from a solo week at the Riu Palace Marhaba on January 29th, booked at short notice.
The room I had (1342) had an inland view, ovecfr the car park, but was large and well furnished, with a huge shower and a seperate toilet. It was suggested at the "welcome" meeting that as the hotel wasn't full anyone who didn't like their room could change, but as far as I know there were no takers. The room cleaning was excellent, thorough and unobtrusive.
The food was very good for all-inclusive, and the a la carte restaurant (only one was in use in the winter season) was excellent. Service in the buffet restaurant was prompt, efficient, and attentive.
Likewise, the drinks service was excellent. The waiters were always on hand to bring drinks to your table, and the range of drinks on offer was good.
The animation team worked hard, but it must be hard to please everybody when there are many different nationalities among the residents. The result was pleasant enough.
'Overall, the hotel is well presented and clean. When I was there the outdoor facilities (pools etc) were not being used, but they looked smart and well maintained.
To sum up, I have cannot fault this hotel. Everything was up to standard for 5 star all inclusive. The hotel management ensure that everything is upto scratch.
