We have just had a very relaxing week half board at the Hasdrubal hotel. As previous comments suggest, the hotel could probably do with a more up to date refurb but saying that, nothing was dirty at all.The staff throughout the hotel are a credit. Every single person made us feel very welcome. We are not usually people that spend all their time at the hotel and like to eat outside of the hotel each evening however the food and choiceof 4 restaurants meant we really didnt feel the need to venture outside even with one restaurant in the medina being recommended on several occasions! There are both salt and chlorine pools both also very clean and pleasant to be around. The only reason i gave the hotel 4 stars is because of the decor which as I said above, looks a bit tired in places and could do with updating! Outside the hotel there really isnt much to do (another reason we stayed inside the resort most nights!) Admittedly we are here out of season but its very quiet! Shopping in the medina isnt great but if you actually visit the kasbah (old fort) there is a lovely little shop inside - the best place to by any souvenirs!!! Enjoy!!!!

overall a pleasant stay
the hotel has got certainly the best infrastructure of all hôtels in Hammamet but there are signs indicating that without proper maintenance it might rapidly deteriorate to a point where the rates quoted might not be justified anymore.

Room Tip: higher rooms on the Thalassa center side

Expensive but worth it, it was a lovely stay. The staff is very freindly, courteous ans attentive. The salt water pools are great. The only problem that you don't find a lot of activities to do in this hotel.

Looking nice in night time you can do fantastic photos. Many restaurants where you can rest with caffee, tea or Shisha. But I need to warning you.We were told by several people to be wary of the Old Medina, stepping out of the taxi we met someone who said he worked at our hotel in the kitchen & he would take us & show us around (smart people they read your wristband which has your hotel name on then try to befriend you) but on the end they are asking about money and they want a lot money not coins. Similar problems we had in Turkey and Morocco. I suppose this is in many Arabic country.

Of course there are a load of massive luxury hotel complexes in Tunisia.
What is great about the Hasdrubal are:
1. Really amazing clean spacious beach at the end of the long line of hotels
2. Huge rooms, marble shower, balcony, huge bed
3. Fun salt-water pools in the spa
4. Fantastic restaurants with some proper Tunisian food Tunisian music and a great belly-dancer
5. Friendliest and most helpful staff in Tunisia especially Leila at the Reception and the Gym guy whose name I didnt catch
6. Not many people around during the week in July although Sunday filled up with wealthy locals and the car park with their Mercedes and Audis
On the other hand, it is expensive for Tunisia, (although beers for 3 euros in the swim-up bar is not exactly exorbitant, and the room rate was about the same as e.g. a rubbish room in the Haven Hotel in Poole, Dorset) no wifi in rooms but good plug-in internet connection. Breakfast was nothing special, but the pastries and cakes were great.

We had an absolutely lovely stay at the Hasdrubal. Management and staff are v friendly, courteous and attentive. Great food choices - Tunisian (check out the bread and lamb casserole) International (lunch time pizza by the pool is hard to resist), Gourmet (great fish and beef choices) and a diet friendly menu! Pool, beach and spa facilities are magnificantly laid out with great attention to detail. Hotel decor is very ornate, stylish with a sense of being opulant without being too much! Pool side service worth a specific mention as does the breakfast menu (pancakes, omelettes, fruit, breads, cheese plus, plus). While a firm bed will suit a lot of people, we will be requesting a softer bed when we return! Dave & Rose

Room Tip: We have stayed in the Hasdrubal twice and both rooms had sea views.
