“Exactly what we expected for AI 4* hotel, good holiday”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 July 2014

Went for 10 days on 30/6/14. Read other reviews before we went so aware of machine made cocktails but not alot else to moan about. One love was the fact you could get up at lunch time and always get a sun bed and umbrella. We went as parents of 19 yr old who took her boyfriend, we all really liked hotel. The food is better than some other 4* hotels we have been to and we didnt get bored for our 10 day holiday. If you are after nightlife then not for you as nowhere to wander to at night and the hotel is pretty much it. The beach and sea are good and the included water sports are really worth doing (get the catamaran owner to take you out which he will do if you ask). We did the quad bike trip thru the hotel which was all too slow & a disappointment. Staff spoke English and all nice to us. Beach is 30 second walk from hotel pool. Rocky area by the sea but everything is all so close to where you are.

Room Tip: Sea view rooms are worth having as view is great as you are so close to the sea. We opened our patio...

We had a great week at Le Sultan, Hammamet. All areas were kept clean. All the Staff from reception, dinning area, bar/pool staff and room cleaner were very friendly. We had a very nice room with a sea/pool view, 121. We are not the most adventurous people at trying different food but we had three very good meals each day, it was always fresh. We took part in the aqua gym, kyack, catamaran and archery at the hotel, there were other activities to do as well. It was a short trip in to Hammamet to see the Fort and medina. We arranged through the hotel to go on a quad bike trip up into the mountains and the pirate ship. We were very lucky to have really hot weather during our stay and it was nice to sit near the sea and great a breeze. I would recommend Le Sultan to anyone going to Tunisia.

Room Tip: up grade to pool/sea view

Just returned from an 11 night stay at Le Sultan and I can honestly say it was the most relaxing holiday we have had. Although we were delayed over 8 hrs going it certainly made up for it when we arrived to a refreshing drink and welcoming staff.
The room was overlooking the tennis courts and mini-club which was quiet but no sea view for us. I think they put all families with small children down one end of hotel. Room was very clean and tidy, had a visitor from a local cock roach but what do you expect when your in Africa- no problem for us! Clean towels every day and friendly maid.
We really enjoyed the food, grilled fish every day, local dishes, meats, salads and chips if you wanted. Ice cream, fruit and selection of mini desserts for pudding.
There were plenty of sun-beds to choose from during our stay although the last couple of days it started to get busy.
The hotel is directly on the beach so no long hauls with towels etc. The only tiny thing I would say was bit annoying was the locals along the beach selling anything from fruit-clothing. I know they have to make a living but you just want to sit on the beach and relax.
Thomas Cook have only been advertising this hotel for few month so there isn't a lot of English there but we did meet an alright couple from Yorkshire- hee, hee, Big Kev and Little L x
The Mini- club was fantastic. They kept our little man entertained throughout the holiday with various activities- Well Done, good job to all.
Animation in the evening wasn't the Comedy Club but they really try hard to keep everyone entertained. Mini disco was a ball!!
Overall, we have a wonderful stay. If we wanted a relaxing cheap, holiday with sun we would definitely return.
Thank you to all staff especially bar/pool bar staff and waiters in restaurant x

stopped for two week break just got back on 6th July 2014. overall we really enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere at the sultan, the bedrooms were modern the beds were very comfy air con was quiet and the rooms were cleaned everyday. The only problem we had was the food it was the same virtually every day ,good job I like liver must of had it nearly every day some times twice a day. if you like stews you'll love it. Think the menu's came from the eighty's and certainly needs bringing up to date ( come on sultan bosses bring in new blood new idea's for the kitchen, feel sure your chefs must be sick of cooking the same food day in day out. I know I would be. ) Bar staff were great always asking if you would like another drink. plenty of sunbeds always available and good comfy ones to. The pool bar staff were great always smiling always made time to speak to every one. Big thank you to Waadi Merha and Sami at pool bar keep up the good work boys sure every body around the pool appreciated you all . Would I stay again YES YES YES The only reason I haven't given the sultan a 5 was the food. King

Room Tip: if your not fussy about a sea view pick one at the back as it only gets the sun early morning so ni...

We stayed here all inclusive for two weeks at the end of June / beginning of July. On arrival at the early hours of the morning we were welcomed with a refreshment cloth and food and drinks which was a nice touch.

The beds were clean and very comfortable and whilst we did not have a sea view room, the views of the gardens were nice in their own right. The room looks to have been recently done up and was very clean and modern looking with a good TV with a few English movie channels to watch whilst getting ready in the evening. The room also had a fridge which was handy to keep a few bottles of water chilled for whenever you wanted them. Our bathroom, although functional had a broken door lock and had not been tiled which took away from the overall aesthetics of the room. Not a problem for us, but worth mentioning.

The pool area has a very large amount of parasols and more than enough sunbeds to go around, the sunbeds were also higher quality than the standard plastic ones you may find elsewhere and did not require mats, though you could get them if you asked the lifeguards. The whole pool area grassed and was very pleasant to relax in throughout the day. The pool itself was large and able to accommodate anyone who might want to use it. There was also an indoor heated swimming pool which was pleasant in the late afternoons and a Jacuzzi that would be scorching hot by the late afternoon.

The bar staff were attentive and friendly, even after working long shifts in the Tunisian sun during Ramadan. The beer was higher quality than other Tunisian hotels we have stayed at and was served in high quality plastic glasses. The cocktails were mostly machine mixed and alcohol added afterwards if you wanted it and were generally quite tasty and the wine was pretty nice, particularly the white and the red.

The animation team at this hotel were great; particularly Chico and Issam were constantly enthusiastic and great fun all day and night long. The animation team also knew to leave you alone if you did not want to take part in any of the activities and did not pester you. The activities were the usual fare of French Boules, Darts, Yoga, Zumba, Aquagym, Archery and Water polo (with pool games after the polo).

The beach was a short trip from the hotel, separated by another hotels beach. The beach looked ok, but we chose this hotel as we are not beach lovers so were not particularly fussed about it. However it did offer free wind sailing, kayaking, pedalo and catamaran trips which is a very nice touch.

The food in the restaurant was OK. Nothing special particularly but the waiters were again very attentive and friendly. The food had a Tunisian dish each night mixed with an array of assorted foods, usually cooked to a sorry rubbery state. For each meal there was a pasta station, with pizza and chips if that is what you want. The best food was the meats that were fried up by the chefs at the stations as this was always fresh and not overcooked. The saving grace for the food was the huge amount of fresh seafood cooked most evening with mussels, squid and prawns on offer.

The evening entertainment was OK, nothing special, some nights were better than others but the snake charmer, for us, in particular was especially awful. The show might have got better but we left after watching him walk around holding a scorpion, and then a small snake for half an hour. The evening bar staff at the entertainment bar however were fantastic and particularly friendly. If the entertainment was not for you there is a large comfortable seating area next to the hotel and another inside bar area or the Moorish café which served Shisha pipes for 8 dinars and mint tea, the atmosphere was lovely and the waiter who ran it was always going around to top you up and like all the other staff in the hotel, If you tipped him would go out of his way for you.
As a side note, the guests, whilst we stayed at least were mostly a mix of English, Germans, Belgians and a few French.
Overall, it was a great and relaxing holiday and the staff, particularly the animation team made it a great one. I would recommend it if you are after an all-inclusive idle holiday.

the hotel had a really relaxing atmosphere to it, we stayed all inclusive for 7 nights. The sea is right next to the hotel. Unfortunately its rubbish for snorkeling but great to swim in. The hotel is very clean and tidy. The only downside for me was the fleas!!!! Granted i only saw 3 in total but still its not nice to get bitten by a flea. The fleas will probably come from the stray cats that Tunisia seems to be full of. The bar staff could be a little/very slow but at meal times the waiters were always quick to serve you. I would recommend the hotel despite the fleas.

We arrived on the 14th of June and stayed for a week, we paid a little extra for a room with a sea view, which I would recommend as the view was amazing especially at sun set and sun rise! The bed was enormous and the shower was was excellent, rooms were cleaned every day and the cleaning staff made some lovely things out of towels!

The pool area was large with plenty of sun beds a large grassy area, and you could place your bed right next to the sea if you wanted. The hotels waiters were friendly and kept us supplied with drinks from the pool bar and the entertainment team were always around with activities like water polo, yoga archery and darts to keep people from getting bored! You are also right next to the beach which had very reasonably priced watersports, I went on a jet ski, went water skiing and parasailing all for around £50.

The food was good there was always plenty of choice, and always a couple of Tunisian dishes, I was really impressed with the staff at the hotel the concierge was very helpful and I was amazed at the amount of languages most of the staff could speak as the hotel was pretty evenly split between English, German, French and local guests. I would also recommend the cafe mura in the hotel for an after dinner shisha it was very calm and relaxing and easy to spend an hour or two in there!

The only downside was that the location was a little bit out of town although there were plenty of taxis at the entrance and it was only about 20 mins away! Overall a very good holiday I would definatly recommend!
