“2nd visit and loved it!!!”
Reviewed 3 October 2012

We just got back from our second visit this year to the Orangers Hotel.
Us and our friends loved it. Last time we stayed in a superior room but as the hotel is fully booked up in September we only got to book a standard room. But to be honest it did not make the slightest of difference. The room was big enough, cleaned every day and the 'tree view' was fine too. After all when you are on holiday how much time do you really spend in the room?

The staff again was brilliant and coulndnt do enough for you. If you up for a laugh go and find Monty in one of the 2 bars and he sure will keep you entertained. The restaurant staff are brilliant too, always on there feet and working very long days. But will always greet you with a warm and welcome smile. The food is plentyful and a good choice for anyones taste.

Also included in this package is a 15mins massage by the beach or indoors. The beach massage was amazing and I loved it. Sadly 15mins went quick. I could have lay there all day.
You also can have a free fishy feet treatment.

We had the best of weather and the sun was out every day and peaked up to 34-40 degrees. The beach is clean and the water is clear - perfect for relaxing and watch the world go by. Watersport activities can be done - such as jet ski, paraglyding, banana boat etc. My partner and a friend did the paraglyding and the views are beautiful - you can see old and new Hammamet and if not scared og heights its worth paying for.
The pool was very clean and never struggled finding a sunbed. By the pool you can relax with a pina colada (or whatever you want) and chat away with other hotel guests. Its a great way to get to know other holiday makers.

The Sisha cafe is also included and opens in the afternoon and a great way to chill out and also cool down as the moorish cafe is inside in a cool location.

Nabul market is a good place if you up for bartering and getting a good deal. But it is very pushy and if you dont like it, then opt for the fixed price shops.

The animation team work very hard and will get you involved in day time activities such as archery, darts and sexy volleyball! All good fun! In the evening they always put on a show, ranging from cabaret, karaoke to oriental night - and even Michael Jackson made an appearance. ;) The whole team Freddie, Mido, Steve, Pinoccio, Dina and Awra will make sure that you wont get bored!

Barstaff, animation and the rest work very hard and very long hours and a small gesture of appreciation to what they do goes such a long way. We tipped every other day and what for us is a small amount, really is appreciated by them.

Yasmin the Thomas Cook rep on site was great. She did a good welcome meeting and we saw her around the hotel on a few occasions. We didnt have any issues so didnt need to speak to her but she made a point of catching up with us on our departure date. She also took us back to the airport and the only problem that we saw on that day was quickly sorted by her.

I just want to make a little comment about the last few reviews - I dont think that there is any need to get personal with rep or hotel staff and write such nasty things. I believe that if you had a problem then give some constructive feedback but dont make personal attacks! This isnt the place for it and it shows a lack of maturity.

Great hotel, great staff, value for money, good fun! Will we be back for a 3rd time? 110% yes!

We were there the last week in September and enjoyed it so much, are planning to go again in March. I agree with previous reviews that the fly issue was a problem, but howay, your common sense should tell you not to eat anything you've seen a fly on! - even in your homeland. Having said that, I conceed that there could be more done to solve this at the outside food outlets, such as lift-up covers. But remember, flies are a problem in any hot country, not just here. So as such, don't use tap water for anything other than getting washed, nor ask for icecubes! It's the same in Spain and areas.
Personally, I don't like fish, seafood or chicken but I certainly felt spoilt for choice with the alternatives on offer. The 24 hour all inclusive really was 24 hour and all inclusive. I've only been to one other all-in hotel where the food was better, but the drinks, service and other amenities at Les Orangers were far superior to that.
The animation team - I've seen better. The lads were good, but one of the girls looked constantly as if she was just going through the motions, dancing with the kids but her eyes and head focused elsewhere and during the adult shows, half-hearted dance moves etc. And there was a lot of repetition in the shows but that also seemed to get the audience joining in! I can't comment on the daytime activities, none of my party took part in any. But, there were a lot of activities going on that didn't involve the animation team. So, it seems you need to make an effort to enjoy yourselves!
It's a religious country so obviously you need to weigh up what you want in a holiday and where you will get what you are looking for.
We went 'out' a couple of nights for meals, one at a place down the road, another a taxi-ride away. And we went 'out' during the daytime too. We didn't want a raucous nightlife but, looking at where we went,I suspect there is one for the taking, it's just not advertised.
All in all, with sensible precautions and being aware it's mainly an adult orientated hotel, I'd say go. You certainly get your money's worth.

Room Tip: We had a family room for 4 adult females. It had no seaview but was spacious and the location in the...

We arrived in the early hours of Thursday morning(19/09/2012) We were given a room which already occupied.Got given a fmily room next which we occupied for three hours before being moved to another room(cell) which was still being cleaned. Complained but told hotel was full. Offered another room for only one night but refused as we had only been there for five hours and had three rooms already. Complained to our Thomas Cook Rep who told us they would make inquiries(we were willing to forget about making an official complaint if hotel would extend our checkout time) Never heard from Rep. Complained to Rep next time we saw her, she had forgotten. Last night of holiday we were finally told no extended checkout time was available, so had to wait ten hours before we left hotel for airport. Resort is beautiful, hygiene very poor as is food which in some places attracts lots of flies. Quite a few guests suffering from diahorrea/sickness due to lack of basic hygiene, Will not be returning ??

Room Tip: Make sure you have a room, as hotel was overbooked and sending guests to other hotels

We booked in-store at Thomas Cook and trusted what the travel agent was telling us about this being a child friendly hotel with all the usual amenities in place. However, when we arrived, there were no kids in sights, we did not receive the [paid for] inter-connecting room upon arrival, we moved rooms 3 times and instantly felt that TC had misrepresented the hotel to us.
We have twin babies (2.5 y.olds) to consider and there were no baby changing facilities, no kids menu, kids club was for kids aged 4 years old plus, the cot mattress was disgusting, there were no high 'chairs' available, no kettle in rooms, no kids TV channels, no internet access and no baby-sitting service so we could not enjoy ourselves! The loud outdoor music went on until midnight and disturbed both the children and us.
There's worst yet to come... we had to make an official complaint with the TC in-resort Rep about there being no adequate paddling pool for the kids! This was why we came on holiday and were missold because the main pool is very deep (about 3 metres) and the small pool is around 1.5 meters deep so totally unacceptable as a 'paddling' pool! We were irate and the Rep understood our concerns and even admitted that this is a mainly an adult guest hotel. Worst still... there's no room service here AT ALL. So I (Daddy) had to get out of bed and find some milk for the twins before they woke up at the crack of dawn! The milk in the bar was UHT!!!! Those of you who know what that tastes like will understand why I was fuming when I told management at reception that we require whole milk and I want it sent to my room because it's my holiday and I should get a break from doing what I do at home! Anyway, after I handed him a large tip, he agreed it can be done.
We were exhausted by the time we came home and did not enjoy the holiday experience, which we paid full price for as it was booked in-store. The complaint should see us compensated somewhat with any luck.
I know I've ranted quite a bit but felt it is all deserved because I do not want anyone else with kids to experience a trip like ours.
One a final point [and fact] to really put you off... the food was awful - bland, tasteless and full of flies!
We were so glad to be home but please note, the return TC flights to both Manchester and East Mids are often delayed as ours was by 5 hours!!

Room Tip: AVOID somewhere near the entertainment area if you want a good night's sleep!

My husband and I had a wonderful two weeks stay at Les Orangers this September and are already planning our return visit for next year sometime.
From arrival at the Hotel where we were greeted by the reception staff until we left we were thoroughly well looked after.
We had upgraded our accommodation to a superior room on booking which really was very nice. We had an awesome sea view and were able to see all the way to Hammamet medina. The bathroom was well fitted, the bed was huge and very comfortable. We also had a small lounge area in the superior suite and also a large balcony area. The balcony area was pretty much the only moan of our stay, this solely being down to the horrendous furniture supplied throughout the resort for use on the balconies. This resulted in us not using our balcony once during our two week stay whereas we normally like to watch the sun go down from our balcony with a drink.
The hotel was clean and tidy with staff attending to gardens, cleaning and general maintenance throughout.
The food was certainly plentiful during our stay; I defy anyone to say they couldn’t find anything they liked on the menus. There was certainly choice for everyone 24 hours a day! The waiting staff are extremely attentive and look after you well. Tipping is not expected although staff work extremely hard and appreciate their tips.
The beach was clean, although areas of it could do with a little attention to remove some of the sharps in the sand behind the beach bar towards the villas on site. The hotel have created a fabulous beach hut system which provides shade for everyone should they want it. There is definitely a culture of “snooze you lose” amongst certain guests but I think this is the case generally with folks rising at 5am to get their patch on the beach – I kid you not. In the end you find yourself resorting to the same measures, something which we never thought we would do!
We had a fabulous holiday and have come back feeling well rested and not too fat after eating the goodies on offer.
We are already looking forward to our return visit in 2013!

Room Tip: Can't really comment as we only stayed in our room! The hotel seemed to be quiet in all areas a...

We stayed from the 9th - 19th September 2012, The weather, staff, pool & beach are all wonderful but sorry Orangers the food this year was not good not good at all. We had stayed here in June 2011 and we couldn't fault a thing especially the choice and amount of food that was available. But the quality and choice of food this year was not good and in very short supplyl. We attempted twice to have dinner at approx 1pm in the beach bar to find empty trays when asked if they were going to replenish they used to say yes in 10 minutes but nothing ever arrived. The same thing happened in the evenings, a few evenings we ended up havng a burger and chips or similar from the pool bar which stayed open until 11pm One morning there were no eggs and that was usually our best meal of the day. I know they cater for all tastes but sorry to say if you dont like fish then you had to go hungry.
We had a couple of torrential rain storms in the afternoon and this resort does not cater for rain,. The evening entertainment was cancelled and moved to the disco area which wasnt a bad thing as to be honest 10 nights of hearing the same childrens disco then watching an adult dance routine did get very wearing..... shame the night that the rock band were on this was moved to the disco but you were allowed to smoke in there many people were coming out to get some fresh air even the smokers!!!
A couple saw a cockroach in the pool bar one afternoon and to be honest the staff were brilliant they shut it all down straightaway and the whole are area was fumigated and cleaned throughout.
The hotel was full and I honestly think they couldn't cope with the amount of people. There were never enough waiters to cope. We used to sit and wait and then end up going to the bar to get served, possibly a few more dinars being thrown their way might of helped. Sorry we wont be returning.
