“Glorious family holiday”
Reviewed 23 May 2014 via mobile

We arrived at Marco Polo on 4th May and was greeted by very friendly reception staff and a refreshing cocktail. We were shown straight to our rooms that were immaculate! We are a family of 4 and took my mom with us too so we were given 2 rooms next to each other with a door interconnecting.

We had a meeting with Tracey (thompsons rep) on the Monday morning once again with a refreshing cocktail. She was lovely, very welcoming and easy to talk to and approach.

Weather for May was beautiful, we had lots of sun and made the most of the outdoor and indoor pool.

Whilst we were there we used the spa and had £50.00 worth of treatments each and spaced them out over the two weeks.

The food was plentiful with lots of choice for adults and children, drinks are definitely watered down but stay on the wine and that will work a treat to get you tipsy! We did venture out to the rovers return and the steakhouse, which are only about a 15 minute walk away from the hotel. The rovers return is lovely, food is beautiful and the owner is very welcoming! The steakhouse isn't as good, the owner wasn't very friendly and You can't get a steak till the evening.

We also went to Carthage land and was a nice day out for the children.

The shops around the town are fine, if you don't want to go in just be polite and say no thank you, but you can get some bargains so worth a look.

The beach is lovely, a bit too much seaweed around but still very welcoming!

Last of all the animation team are brilliant! My boys loved spending time with all of them especially Mamane and Raba.

The only thing that I would add to the complex is a playground for the children, they do have a small pool and clubhouse but nowhere as such for them to run around and play. Just a simple swing and slide she would have made all the difference.

Once again fantastic holiday, brilliant staff!! Would love to go back and highly recommended.

this was our second visit to the Marco Polo. This time we went at short notice in early May.
The Hotel is immaculately clean, the army of cleaners and grounds people start at 6.30 am, the entire Hotel inside and out is cleaned daily.
The staff are friendly and helpful and some have become friends.
If you travel on an all inclusive package, watch your waistline. Apart from three meals a day, there are snacks at 11.00am and pancakes and cakes at tea time.
There is such a vast choice of food that there is always something to enjoy, eeven a a fresh cooked pizza counter.
The drinks may be watered down as another reviewer has stated but as you can drink as much as you like its not really a problem. The wine is not the best.
The entertainment team are the hardest working group of young people I have met. They work from early morning untill midnight. The entertainment is not top drawer but something every night.
Our only two gripes are not really to do with the hotel....The Photographers are franchised and very over priced, Beware of the Camel man on the beach, he lets you on and totally over charges which normally results in a scene.
For a great value for money holiday it`s great.

Room Tip: choose a pool view room.

I would definitely come back, if I had any children! Because the staff was amazing with the kids..

The food was standart, no surprises there! The pool was very big and the beach very close - which was nice..

The room was OK!

Nothin bad to say about this hotel. It is sparkling clean, reception staff went out of their way to help you. Restaurant staff also very good as well as bar staff. Animation staff kept you informed but did not pester you. They put on some good shows. Had a fantastic room right in the middle off the building which overlooked the pool. Plenty of choice in foods. Next door to marina and some fantastic lookin yachts. Great watching the locals on a Sunday evening. Can't wait for my next visit to Tunisia.

Just returned from 2 weeks at Marco Polo Yasmine Hammamet ...this hotel is very clean and the staff are very friendly and will do anything for you. The entertainment staff work very hard and put on a great show of an evening. It was very hard to get people motivated as a lot of the guests when we were there were elderly but the French bowls was very popular. No problems getting a sun bed and the lifeguard would bring your mattress and a parasol of you needed one. The only 2 downsides for me was 1-in the main resturant you were allocated a table for your evening meal which you kept for the whole of your stay. On a weekend local Tunisians would come to the hotel and they didn't believe in this system and would just sit anywhere. Once the sat down they would not move leaving you having to find somewhere else to sit. 2- there are no coffee/tea making facilities in the bedrooms. There are plenty coffee/tea machines throuout the hotel but I like to have a cuppa in my room when I'm getting ready. This is a Riu thing but I think a little touch like that would go a long way. Special mention to all the animation team and to some fantastic people we met on holiday...you made it perfect. Beware of Tracey the rep ...she leaves you nasty letters at the end of your stay (telling you it's time to go home) all in all a brilliant holiday. Would recommend anytime

The reception area is very welcoming and clean, you are greeted by some wonderful staff. The room we had was pool view, very clean, en suite modern and immaculate, the maid service is perfect. The pool is enormous and the perfect temperature for the hotter months, the animation team are very sweet with a good grasp of most languages. The only slightly negative thing would be the lack of variety food wise night by night, but the food was very good quality.

Room Tip: Tip your waiters, Maid and animation team generously, they work ridiculously long hours doing nothin...

We stayed here from the 20th April to the 4th May, we had a fantastic time, from arrival to departure we were treated very well.

The rooms we had (2079 & 2081) had great views of the pool, sea and port, they were cleaned every day and to a high standard, if you read any comments about the rooms being basic ignore them, the rooms are for one thing only....sleeping or having sex and that is it, and there is something about lying in the sun all day that makes you horny.

Food was perfect everyday, could not fault it at all, there is something for everyone, however my only complaint is of the moaning sods who complained about the hotel not having proper sausages, bacon, beans, and so on, I even overheard a woman moaning to her husband that the butter was not as good as lurpack, and two men complained to each other about the bread, what did they want warburtons for gods sake you are in another country that has to cater for many different nationality's.

The animation team are fantastic, so if you are going with children you will not worry about them at all, as soon as it was 10.00am the little one was off and we hardly saw him throughout the day, the guy who looks after the kids in the kids club is a star, very good with kids and kept them entertained all day.

Bar staff are fantastic too, whilst lying on our loungers we never had to get up once to go the bar, drinks kept coming all day every day. There is one barman called Helmi, he is very polite and very good at his job.

Hotel management and receptionists are very good at their jobs, always smiling, polite and very friendly, they go out of their way to see you are happy and enjoying yourself.

The beach was a bit dirty, but they had started to clean it up ready for high season.

We are definitely going to go back to this hotel next year, and if you read any bad reviews about this place ignore them, the people who write the bad reviews wouldn't know a good hotel or holiday if it came up and smacked them across the face with a wet kipper, these sort of people would be far better suited in Blackpool or Benidorm with all the other chavs and chavettes.

Pool was cold although we were not in high season so that is expected, and even though it was cold there were plenty of people still going in.

We met some great people there and have stayed in touch with them so hopefully we will go back together.

Room Tip: Rooms 2079 and 2081 are near the pool and have good views.
