“Brilliant, Ignore The TripAdvisor Zombies”
Reviewed 21 July 2014

So when we booked this hotel and looked at some of the reviews on here we thought "Oh, No" but ignore it it's just the usual TripAdvisor zombies who's Tea was 1° colder that day than preferred.

This hotel is fantastic value for money. The staff are extremely under valued and cannot do enough to help.

Food wise it's fantastic for all inclusive and I have defiantly seen worse but prepare for your stomach to adjust as the beef etc is slightly different to back home (Imodium recommended) and you will probably get a little bored of the food near the end of your stay. That being said the Ice cream is gorgeous.

The rooms are very nice and spacious and the cleaning staff are amazing, they always tried to decorate our towels. The air conditioning works very well and keeps the room nice and cool and the beds do their job.

With regards to the nightlife the animation team are incredibly under valued and try their upmost to put smiles on faces. What lets them is the management who seem to treat them like dirt and i think that needs to be addressed ASAP. The team themselves are very friendly and fun people who even sometimes come out to cocoon nightclub (which is on site) with you after their shift.

Talking about cocoon it seemed like it did not get used to it's full potential, so what we did was just made friends with many people in our hotel which was super easy to do as all the guests we spoke to seemed to be friendly, then as a group we went down to cocoon together for a few nights which made a much better atmosphere and I ended up djing there.

For day time there is a relaxing pool area with free sun loungers and pool bar to chill out at although the water polo and aqua gym which happens frequently. You also have about a 50 meter walk to the on site beach where there are many of water sports, sun loungers and a beach bar to enjoy.

The bar sells all the usual cocktails and a draft beer but no cider which was a disappointment being a somerset lad but the drinks were good although seemed a little different each time.

So overall I'd say this is a great hotel ignore the zombies cause this is great value for money.

The hotel was clean, with helpful and friendly staff. Rooms clean and tidy with fresh towels daily slightly mad shower but just keep the pressure down. We found the food excellent with many options available for each sitting. Free fast wifi in reception. All rooms have a balcony. We had a lovely holiday at the Regency and would recommend it. Thank you.

I want to give an honest account of my first trip to Tunisia along with an accurate review of the hotel in the hope that it will give the information we would have liked prior to booking our package holiday both about the hotel and the area.

So the good points, Regency offers a very good location for those who are comfortable enough to get a taxi (6-7TDN/£2.50-£4) both to the old town and new town. Both have some beautiful scenery and architecture, but don't expect a quiet walk around - Hassle is not the word to use, it appears the locals haven't quite figured out how to treat their tourists and almost everything is a con (I'll get to this in a bit more detail later). However, if you are looking for a quiet beach holiday where you can spend your days by the pool or beach, the Regency has a nice, quiet location with the beach not even 50 meters away. Sun lounges and beach bar are part of the hotel so no need to keep walking back to the main bar for a drink. There are lots of activities on the beach including parasailing, waterskiing and banana rides. You will get the usual beach sellers but just be firm and polite and they will start to leave you alone.
The hotel operates frequent food service times and thank you to all previous reviews for moans about no burgers and chips, they've clearly taken this on board as this was the main dish every night!!!! If it's British food you want - stay in Britain! They continue to offer a good selection of traditional Tunisian cuisine with salads, fruit, cakes and ice cream - bit repetitive but aren't all all inclusives?
BUT if you like your food fresh, get down when service starts or you'll find a number of flies on the not so covered food. The waiters are attentive and cannot do enough to make you feel welcome and satisfied. The entertainment team really do their best to keep you busy and offer a good laugh!
The rooms are very clean, albeit a few technical errors with the shower but the rooms serve their purpose. There is wifi in the main reception, games room and you can change money at reception also. All staff pleasant and friendly!

My main disappointment about the hotel is that regardless of it's size, the owners haven't stretched beyond the basics. This hotel has so much land space and beautiful scenery and gardens with outside kitchens by the breach with rustic pizza ovens I was surprised they didn't have more night time entertainment in these areas! It has huge potential and I hope they think about expanding it's facilities!

The Thomas cook rep was, well, about as useful as a chocolate kettle! When asked about safety and hot spots for tourists, the response was 'just don't end up in a ditch' - clearly we were looking for specifics and this can hinder anyone's desire to explore even just a little bit outside the resort. So, here's what you need to know -
Taxis are available outside the hotel and generally cost between 6-7 dinar or 10-12 after 10pm. Always ask how much before you get in and repeat your destination so they fully understand!
When you get to your destination it's likely that a local will say he works at your hotel - DO NOT TRUST ANYONE - a few hours of people watching and we learnt that this is a con, a lure to get tourists to follow them to a shop and hassle/pressure you to buy stuff you probably don't need/want and aren't far from locking you in until they get some money from you! A real shame if you ask me!
If you go into the town, turn your hotel wrist band inside out to lessen the chances of someone quoting the hotel name and luring you!
Know your exchange rates - when haggling, you need to know what 400TDN is in startling/euro so you can haggle better and not get caught out!
When they say 'no hassle' they are lying! I don't think they fully understand what that means! Fixed price shops are your safest and most accurate shopping routes!
Women walking alone - not the best option on the basis that unless you like to be ogled at or just made to feel uncomfortable by the local men, stick to pairs or groups! Younger locals don't seem so bothered by tourists!
Returning - enfidha airport - something else we weren't told or which isn't well displayed either - you get through security, check in and go through passport control expecting to spend the last of your dinars in duty free - think again! Once you check in, find the exchange office and change your money back to home country currency! If you don't you'll only be sent back after a very long wait through all the control measures!

I did love the sunny break, it was well needed after some long hard working months - Tunisia seems to be such a beautiful place but, it's unfortunate that the hassle and locals let it down! Overall - 3* for Regency - hopefully a true 4* if they can step up the quality and facilities!

Hope this has helped for those visiting for the first time!

Just returned from the Regency after a lovely week of relaxing sunshine on the beautiful beach. The hotel is a small family run affair and we had a room on the 4th floor, which was spacious, clean and well presented, with a lovely view. The staff were friendly and helpful in all areas and the waiters were attentive with our drinks in the dining room.
The food was questionable some days, but we had fresh cooked omelette each morning and some lovely pastries. There was fresh watermelon every meal, but little other fruit, which was a shame. We brought peaches and bananas from the man on the beach and they were divine! The salads were plentiful and the pizza was the best :-). There was fresh bread every day, chicken and fish and the veg was aubergine, courgette and carrots. It is a shame that they try and cater for the 'picky' people - I would have been more than happy to eat Tunisian food for the duration of our stay and we went out for this.
The beach was beautiful, it was very hot and the sea breeze was very welcome, the water was warm and clear. We paid 3 dinar for the sun bed cushion on a daily basis, however some people found this a problem?..... tight fisted brits!... Yes, it is all inclusive, but it is a hotel that is trying to improve its standards and you cant do it all for free. There are still quite a few areas that need attention, but it is a work in progress. I am sure their standards will continue to improve over the year.
The 'lookie lookie' men on the beach are quite persistent, but treat them nicely and with a laugh and a smile - it goes a long way, remember they are walking up and down that baking beach all day long trying to make a living, there's no need to be rude to them.
Overall we had a lovely time, please don't overlook this hotel and listen to the bad reviews - if you want 5* hotel and service, then pay for it elsewhere. If you want bacon, burgers and beans, go to Benidorm.
We didn't participate in the entertainment, there was enough brits abroad to keep us amused!
My friend and I had a great time - we went for the sunshine and the relaxation and that's what we got - all at a bargain price.

Room Tip: 4th floor rooms have a view of the gardens and the sea.

We have just returned from a fantastic week at this hotel. After reading some of the poor reviews on here we weren't sure what to expect but we enjoyed it so much. Our 3rd floor room was spotless and spacious, with a huge comfy bed, and lovely views over the gardens and towards the sea. The hotel is in a great location, the beach is beautiful and very chilled, with a proper beach bar. The pool was lovely too, with plenty of sunbeds. The entertainment staff are really enthusiastic & the evening entertainment was good fun. The food was outstanding, especially the pancakes at breakfast and desserts! Drinks were nice too, with big measures! There are a couple of nightclubs within walking distance of the hotel, but if you want more bars & restaurants (along with lots of shopping) both the new & old towns are a 10 min taxi ride away (about £2). All of the staff were excellent, really friendly and they couldn't do enough for you.

Fantastic value holiday and we can't wait to go back next year. Don't think twice about booking it, you won't regret it!

After reading some of the reviews for this hotel we weren't expecting to receive the 4* treatment that the hotel claimed to offer, however once we arrived it was clear to see we had nothing to worry about!! We were greeted with cocktails and a very helpful receptionist who spoke very clear English and the porter who carried our suitcases up to our fourth floor room.

The photos that Thomas Cook had on their website does not do the hotel justice at all, so I have attached a few photos so you can see for yourself at how lovely the hotel is.The rooms were very spacious and modern with free air con and we had a great view from our balcony that overlooked the beach. It is an extremely well presented and clean hotel and the maids are very attentive, one morning we were in the room whilst the maids were cleaning and both myself and my boyfriend were impressed at how thorough the two maids were.

The animation team were very energetic and tried their best to involve every one in the hotel despite a few language barriers, there were activities all through the day ranging from darts, water polo, volley ball, yoga and aqua aerobics. However the night life wasn't as great... The music stopped at dead on 11pm along with the all inclusive bar which wasn't too much of a problem as there is an on site night club (Cocoon) yet we visited 3 times during our weeks stay and it was a shame that there was only us and our friends we made in there!

The food was average, yet was repetitive though we didn't mind too much as we definitely got our money's worth! In the mornings there was a pancake and omelette station and a range of pastries and fresh bread, lunch was usually fresh bread, cheeses, salads, burgers, chips etc. and dinner was the same with either chicken or beef, at dinner there was also a pizza station where pizza was made fresh in front of you which was a nice touch.

The beach was gorgeous and literally a 2 minute walk down the hotel path and it was refreshing to have a beach bar open 2-5pm with chilled music and water sports such as banana boats and paragliding (just beware of people trying to sell you stuff!!). The pool was very clean ans there was a helpful lifeguard who got our sunbeds for us every morning, there was also a pool bar which was nice as there were seats in the water so you could relax with a drink whilst still in the water.

The hotel is in between the old town (Hammamet) and the new town (Yasmine) and both are only a 10 minute taxi ride away which cost between 5-10 dinar (£1.70-£3.50). Both towns were great for shopping, however I felt more safe in the new town and this is the town that the Thomas Cook recommended as well. The rep also recommended a restaurant called Bella Medina, we went and the food was amazing and ridiculously cheap (for 4 of us with alcohol, steak and desserts it came to £49 and also included a free taxi service on behalf of the restaurant!)

I read reviews before booking the holiday about only being able to order one drink at the bar, this wasn't true, however we felt as if it was a problem to order more than one drink both in the day and at night as the bar staff didn't seem impressed.

We booked the holiday as a last minute, cheap deal and to be honest we didn't really mind which country/hotel we stayed at but I am very pleased that this is the hotel we chose as it was worth every penny with excellent staff, a friendly atmosphere and the weather was beautiful!

Room Tip: The 4th floor has great views of the beach!
