After an unpleasant experience with a member of the entertainment team at the Omar Khayam we were moved to the Dar Khayam. We found that the food, essentially the same, was so much better in terms of preperation and presentation. Staff were so much more friendly. Whilst it didn't make up altogether for our experience at the Omar, it did at least mean that some if our holiday wa salvaged.

Arrival at hotel was great - weather was far better than expected, shorts but still needing a jumper, Momo straight away sold us a trip on a camel/horse which was a great trip in fact the best better than all the Thomas Cooks ones we took out, we paid out for thomas cook rep night but as it was winter there was only 6 in it and it was a poor night. Food was ok for 7 days but then u get really fed up of it - and not always hot. Spa looked inviting unfortunately the man selling the spa deals was a problem - y they kept him on god knows. everywhere was cleanish but grubbish as well ! 2nd week was far hotter, indoor swimming pool was lovely and warm BUT i shall leave the best till last some of the bar staff were happy especially the one who had a suit on every day and the animation team worked very hard and seazoo (probably spelt wrong) was such a hard working animation lad and the Hotel would be loosing out without him I know they have spider and bobo but seazoo trys to involve everyone and he made my holiday x

Just came back from a 2 week holiday with my partner , booked through Thomas Cook and stayed at the Hotel Dar Khayam. The hotel was fairly clean, except for the spit marks inside the lift that were there for 3 days, The staff were pretty friendly, the animation team were great, but the food was absolutely awful, we had a couple of days when the food was good but we had to eat out quite a bit, we were not the only ones to complain about the food, everyone we spoke to complained, At the weekend the locals quite literally take over the hotel, they come and stay , our meal times changed because they wanted to use the restaurant and we were not informed, the Hotel is what you pay for , but you expect better food, we would not stay there again

Room Tip: The rooms in the main part of the hotel tend to be nosier at night due to the activities of the anim...

I went with my 14 year old daughter to tunisia in September 2013. Our first visit to Tunisia was to this hotel. The staff were so polite and helpful. The rooms were cleaned daily and the food was lovely. The entertainment staff were super. They worked from morning until night to keep us entertained. Every day there were pool activities and games. The camel man took us to go on the camels and this day out was absolutely amazing. The tgomas cook staff tried to tell us not to go with the entertainment staff on days out as they wanted us to book with them but in all honesty when in a country like tunisia u need to go with the natives.
All in all an amazing holiday and we have booked again to go this year.

We spent 2 weeks here in October i have no complaints at all about the hotel. we arrived early hours in the morining and the reception man had us booked in forms completed and a safety deposit box organisied in a few minutes. we were escorted to our room, we tipped in pound coins at this point as we had no currency.

the next morning we found the restaurant got our table for the stay and had breakfast, yes you have to queue but where dont you on an all inclusive holiday. We did find having to share our table a bit odd but then the people who we were sat next to were lovely, and it was a nice to chat to them, a lovely couple from Newcastle Food was fine, did get a bit boring after 2 weeks though. The chicken from the snack bar was lovely and the waiters in the restaurant were all friendly and helpful. We tipped our waiter a few times as he looked after us, making sure we had wine and water, even arranging a bigger table for an evening for us when a couple of girls we had met were leaving and we wanted to have a meal together on their last night.

Some of the bar staff were a little grumpy. our lady who cleaned our room was lovely and we always had clean towels etc, no complaints there. we were in rooms that are located in blocks on the path that leads to the beach so we were half way between the beach and the main hotel.
We also did a few excursions while we were there, we went on the pirate ship which was fun but very overcrowed on the day we went so we were stuck downstairs and missed the pirate show which sounded good. we did swim in the sea and saw the dolphins which was fab. We also did the 2 day excursion to the desert which was very tiring but excellent value for money, the highlight being the trek into the sahara desert on a camel at sunset. Glad we did it but would not do it again due to all the time spent on a coach.
We went out for a meal to a restaurant recommended by Antony the rep, excellent value for money and a very enjoyable evening, transport to the restaurant provided.

Pool and beach both great, pool is better if you prefer lively music, beach is quieter although you do get bothered by beach sellers. The henna guy on the beach is lovely and does a good henna tattoo for just a few dinars.

Nabuel and Hammemet just a few dinars in a taxi, nabuel is great on a friday for the market but be prepared to be hassled alot. The shops to the left of the hotel are good and the guys who work there very friendly, i got some lovely pottery there. There is also a bowling alley just a few minutes walk which is very reasonable and you can get a beer there for £2. All in all a great hol i just wasnt keen on the location and this year we will be returning to Sousse/Port el Kantoui as we prefer it there.

Our first time in Tunisia, the only problem we had was not being able to change money on our arrival at the hotel.the manager apologised and said the bar was open.the staff were very good.our room was spacious and cleaned everyday without fail.clean towels etc.how anyone can say the food is bad is beyond my belief.my partner and I found the food to be of unlimited choice and Very good.the idea of having to sit at the same table for 11 days was to my mind a good idea as we made friends with some very nice people.the hotel was spotless and the staff very friendly. How anyone can fault it is beyond our belief, these people who give bad reviews would probably give bad reviews about the London hilton. Don't be put off you will have a good holiday at a very reasonable price.
