I Have been staying at le Hammamet hotel on and off for the past 22yrs so i have seen a lot of changes to this Hotel and how hard everybody there works There aim is to make sure everybody has a great time nothing is to much for them ,and the surveys they get you to do they actually listen and make changes where possible hench The Queen Vic sorry that was my idea many yrs ago as is the large coffee's served in the glasses.and many other changes ,it would spoil things if this hotel was like the thousands of other hotel's through the world as then they would all be the same at least at this hotel it is very different as they never forget a face you get that personal touch which is lacking in the modern hotels at least here you are a somebody and the customer service is always of top class . This Hotel will also boost that most of there customers are long standing guest 's that will continue to return just like myself my children grand children and all of our friends i have also Travelled to other counties and have never had the hospitality and friendliness i have experienced every time i stay at Le Hammamet Hotel so i would reccommend this hotel to all but remember it's Tunisia not England and to be fair you don't get the service in England that you get at Le Hammamet Hotel so chill out relax and have fun see you there AUGUST 2009

We booked a week in Tunisia at the last minute, had never been before and did not really know what to expect. Le Hammamet Hotel was lovely and everything we could have wished for. Yes, it was built a long time ago and is somewhat dated, but that only adds to its charm - the hotel and the area are established and mature, unlike the new developments at Yasmine Hammamet which are like a building site.

The room we had was spotlessly clean and very comfortable. The cleaners and waiters were very friendly and made us feel welcome, and while the reception staff and head waiters (anyone in a suit!) were a little more aloof they were nonetheless polite and efficient.

Breakfast was a little hit-and-miss: great if you have a sweet tooth but don't expect the full English. They have plenty of lovely rolls, usually croissants as well. Hard boiled eggs every day or you can boil your own to your taste. Some days they did fried eggs which were good, others scrambled eggs or omelette, both of which were OK but usually cold. Dinner was very good, lots of choice so always something to appeal. A good mixture of Tunisian and European cuisine where we were often spoilt for choice. The lamb was disappointing, which surprised us, but there was plenty of veal, chicken, beef, and even wild boar on a couple of nights.

The bars, the beach, the pool and the grounds were all lovely and made for a very relaxing week, which was the whole purpose of going. We would definitely return, and for two weeks next time.

I loved this hotel and would love to go back. The staff were efficient, pleasant and helpful. The location was great for us, just a short walk across the road to the beach. The entertainment and activities for kids and adults was very good.

The food was excellent with a very good choice and the deesserts were out of this world. The rooms were clean and adequate for our needs.

I didn't love Tunisia as a whole because it was a bit of a culture shock. It takes a while to just remember that it is a very different culture and I began to appreciate it more a few weeks after I got back home but I am still thinking of going back again this year and will definitely stay here again. And I can't wait to go on the tour into the Sahara again!

we booked the holiday last minute and out hotel was changed the day before we were due to fly. on arrival it was late and we just checked in and went straight to bed. our room was far from reception and there are no lifts which was a bit annoying but we could have changed the next day if we wished. the breakfast was adequate and the rooms basic but very clean-cleaned every day and fresh towels provided. the hotel itself is a little dated but it has a bar where the entertainment is held at nighttime and a wonderful spa. the weather wasn't that great but we didn't miss out as we booked into the spa for 180 dinar for 3 days of treatments and there is a heated indoor pool that you have full use of. the staff were extremely attentive and pleasant throughout our stay there is a buffet at nighttime which has an array of dishes and we'd also recommend the a la carte restaurant in the hotel also. Overall I would recommend this to friends for a girlie week away of pampering and relaxing and enjoying the sun, we didn't go clubbing as the entertainment and disco in the hotel was enough. overall thoroughly enjoyed our stay

I stayed at Le Hammamet Hotel for one night at the beginning of a package tour of Tunisia, and found the hotel to be very dated. It has all of the facilities one might expect (an exclusive beach area, pool, bar and restaurant), but they were all built a long time ago and have only just been maintained to an appropriate standard. There is also a disco at the hotel, so if you want a peaceful night's sleep, I recommend you stay somewhere else, or take your earplugs.

this hotel has it's pros and cons hence the mixed reviews i have read here and why it suits some people and not others. firstly the facts; the hotel is very old, pre 1972. it was designated four stars but at a push is a two star hotel.
the pros;
---all you need is in the complex; two pools, restaurants, kids entertainment during the day and family entertainment in the evening. if you want to do nothing but lay by the pool, maybe with small kids then this place would suit. we went half board, the breakfast was ok...tended to run out by half nine though..
---it's a cheap package- one of the reasons why we went here, (last minute) and i think why alot of othe people end up here. we paid less than €400 each incl taxes for the week in august.
--garanteed sun. it's africa.... i found it too hot but it was aug...
--nice staff, it is a very busy hotel but the reception staff are nice anything we asked for their advice. some were nicer than others but i could see there was a policy to help customers.
--near other restaurants, and other hotels
--'near' the beach

the cons;
--the rooms are very old and have not been updated or upkept well. the first room we were given (at 5am after 5 hours delay) was not clean, there was sand in the beds (ie. they had not be changed) and on the ground and the bins had not been changed (quite disgusting). it smelt musty too. the staff moved us to another room- the aircon didnt work properly and the second last day we found a coachroch in our bed (maybe our fault for leaving the terrace doors open). there was also no air movement in the complex- hence the musty smell so the room was stuffy.
--the beach, i found it dirty, there were cigerette butts everywhere even though they cleaned the beach patch every evening. you also had to pay for the loungers each day-only abt €1. i think this is a problem for the area as a whole as other areas had more strung rubbish.. the water was clean though.. the hotel does not front the beach, you have to walk down a lane past alot of traffic trying to park infront of the of the other hotels. the beach was packed when we were there but it was aug/high season etc.
---location- the hotel is down a small but busy road, about 10 minutes away from the town of hammamet. the area is quite built-up.. there are some overpriced restaurants near the hotel but overall you are not near anything authentically tunisian.... the taxi ride is a experience in itself- the traffic was so bad in aug and they drive quite haphazardly... there are some big clubs ten minutes the other direction- they are very popolar with locals..i didnt go so cant say what they're like... but could hear the music from my bed everynight...
--- tour operator. we went with sunway and i wont be travelling with them again (previous holiday to morroco with them went fine) we were 2 hours delayed from dublin and another 2 hours delayed at monastir airport waiting for our transfers. overall this was not the fault of sunway but the rep had only started 2 days beforehand and didnt do much else but apoligise ..alot.. we told her abt our rooms. but at this stage we had resolved it ourselves.. we didnt tell her abt the coachroch, maybe we should have but just wanted to go home at end of holiday.

so fellow travellers beware- this place comes with a warning... overall i would not reccomend it, maybe in january if you pay less than €200 but otherwise no. i would love to return to tunisia but not to hammamet and def not on a package holiday.

I just returned with my boyfriend from Hammamet in Tunisia. For 7 days we were staying in Le Hammamet hotel. Too many people, dinining room was to full and crowdy, but plenty of food. Very beautiful beach, warm sea. What I didn't like is, that one day at the beginning we went 10m away from hotel's beach, to see if there is any other restaurant, and quickly a men came and tell us to go away that it is forbbiden for us to be there, because we are from different hotel.
Food: Salats are ok, but I was seak, when I saw that they are doing it with dirty hands, without any gloves, forks...
Rooms: untidy, plenty of "moscquitos", untidy towels, they don't was flors, don't change sheets...
The staff was ok. But I didn't like other Tunisians that are selling stuff, they are too agressive. We went to medina, taxi men was friendly, but then all the sellers down there...horrow!
We also went on a trip in Douz, El Jam, Matmata...Children are there and all are begging for money.
There were plenty trees in area of hotel, tidy swimming pool, nice music, we went to have a massage - excellent.
All in all, it was ok.
