We've just returned from a week at the Samira Club. We didn't expect much as the price for the All Inclusive was very reasonable. We were pleasantly surprised by the quality and range of food on offer throughout the day, particularly the lunches. The evening entertainment was a bit lacking, but there was plenty going on during the day if you wanted to get involved.

Over all a great holiday, and we will definately be going back next year.

Accommodation extremely basic, ours was dirty and smelt terrible. The food was very bland and unfortunately it was pot luck and as there was no menu we never knew exactly what we were eating. We like to try local cuisine but unfortunately most of the food was geared towards European taste, which was a shame. The beach was great and the pool was clean, but it was a bit of a lottery as to whether you got a sunbed, even though there were signs everywhere saying not to reserve beds these were gone by 6.30 am every morning. The animation team worked very hard and were friendly but the evening entertainment was hit and miss. Having stayed in Tunisia before this hotel was not a patch on other accommodation. The onsite shop was supposed to be fixed price but tried to charge us TND 38 for sun cream, when another guest asked the price he was quoted TND 28 for the same suncream! The one thing I was really upset with was the livestock on site. There was a donkey tethered in a cage approximately 8' x 6' and next to that chickens and rabbits. Most of the day this was in direct sunlight which I felt was cruel and of course there was the constant smell from the animals. Thankfully the weather was brilliant, but overall, I would not go back.

Room Tip: Book another hotel!

If you are looking for a ClubMed at half the price, then this is not the place. This Club Hotel is Tunisian-owned and geared up for traditional families and couples, not hedonists. In general, the staff is very courteous, speak English, German, French and Arabic and do a wonderful job considering the amount of guests they cater to. For myself, travelling alone, the place felt like a prison with nothing to escape to in the outside world.

If you want to escape online, forget it. Connecting with your own computer is not allowed and the four community computers run on modems or telephone lines that constantly cut out while air conditioning water constantly drips on your head, hands and keyboard. You must buy your 15 or 30 minutes at reception in advance (where there are always people waiting to be attended to) then wait your turn for the chance to test the slowest connections on the planet and often doesn’t open a page in less than 10minutes. Forget about buying English newspapers to keep up with current events. At best you may find some out-of-date French or German papers.

On a positive note, the food is great as far as buffets go, but competing with large families to get to the food is another thing, unless its Ramadan, because Muslim guests may only eat after sunset. The only food item you are likely to avoid are their scrambled eggs but the rest is really excellent considering they are cooking for 200 - 1,300 people.

The swimming pool is fun for kids with high slides plunging into the shallow end! Expect to see many injuries from those who don’t raise their knees before hitting the water. At least there is an Arabic/French-speaking nurse on hand who is also a trained pharmacist. For swimmers, it’s a good 50-meter length and women bathing fully-clothed and veiled is quite common. The soft sand beach is only a few steps away and is great for swimming – only tiny waves to body surf though – but topless bathing is not quite accepted.

For kids, it is really great as much entertainment is geared up for them including a ‘mini-club’ and a disheartening mini-zoo with a donkey confined to a space 1,5 meter squared that gets pulled out for lottery and other ‘events’. The highlights are the equestrian facilities including a new-born pony, tennis courts, paragliding, kayaking, a bouncing banana, windsurfing (not this season as no trainer turned up), a spa with hammam, massage therapists who double as hairdressers and for the more active guests, there’s the option of very long walks on the beach to reach the historical port of Hammamet. Many excursions are offered but they are not unique to this club resort.

Rooms are cleaned daily, but floods in bathrooms, such as mine, were unattended to during my entire 7-day visit, although reported daily. The phone in my room did not work either but was fixed quickly. A more elegant club hotel nearby, perhaps more romantic for couples, is the Lookea Club Hotel, which has a lovely lawn around its pool, but it’s a long walk down the road to get to its beach. Club Samira being on the beach is a dream in comparison. You must bring your own beach towel though.

Only recommended for traditional types.

We had a wonderful time since the day we arrived at the club. The staff at the reception desk was very helpful. After leaving a little tip in the rooms.....our room was kept very nice and clean. Over all we had no problems at all, the staff in the dining room had always a table reserved for us. The beach is beautiful ( I just wish more of the guest would not leave their garbarge behind on the end of the day). A nice friendly word preferred in french, arabic and of course german, keeps the salesperson on the beach away. In order to get a loungechair at the beach,it requires to get up early in the morning and a friendly word with the beachboys will do wonder. Their always very helpful to find a chair even though they give up their own. As far as the animation, well it could be better but for the kids it was awesome, liitle late that`s all. The club is really a place for the younger generation, but we enjoyed every minute of it. We had a wonderful vacation at Samira Club and we will be back.

Room Tip: 3-5 TDR per week

I went to the Samira Club a few weeks ago and all i've had was FUN !
As soon as I arrived, I'VE DANCED ALL THE WAY DOWN TO THE RECEPTION..hahaha !
The welcome was warm indeed, there were 2 old mans that played typical music..
We took about 15 minutes to have the key and not 2 hours like the other people said..we went to the room she was clean,comfy..you have the air-conditioner, the hair dryer and the beds were really comfy (i slept like a baby) !
I went to the beach, i swam, i ate at the "A la carte" the only problem there it's the service, you can wait 30 minutes for a drink.. but the pizza were so good !
I played beach volley then i've done parachute ! AMAZING !
I don't like pools generally and i didn't like this one too..not to be racist but only arabic people were there and it wasn't so catchy..
I took a shower, then i put evening clothes..i went for dinner (can do better)..then my nephew danced the mini club dance he loved it ..the evening entertainment was very funny and not annoying at all ! I danced till 2 a.m the music weren't so great but you dance for fun (Some of the staff tried to talk to me, but they were very respectful) ! Then me and my friends went to the calypso night club so much fun we've had there !!!!!!! i'm so sad i want to go back nooow !
The hotel was near all the night clubs, the hotel was between the "Hammamet Sud " (south) and the "Hammamet Nord" (north)" ..
The comments are exaggerated..Those that complain should spend more money on a luxurious hotel.. !
There's others activities like the toboggan , mini club, horse riding, soccer, the zumba dance, basket ball, beach volley ball, fitness, spa and many othersss !
I might go there next summer !!!!!

This is the second vist so we knew what to expect. Last time the animation team was brilliant, this time not so good there was no personality or fun and evening entertainment was very repetitive and boring. The reception staff were very unhelpful but rest of the staff were lovely. The room was kept clean and had no problems with the food. This isnt 3 * as it is very basic. If you can`t speak french you will have problems being understood as it is catered for europeans that don`t speak english. We went back because of the beach which was brilliant and the local tunisians who are very friendly. The trip to the zoo and african dance is very entertaining and well worth a visit and also the stablesbut be careful as I don`t think health and safty exist here

stayed here in may 2009 (site would not allow me choose this date above ) travelled with a group of girls, none of whom are fussy thank god!!! now i know i said not for the faint hearted blondes that was for more than one reason !!! we stayed in the orange block out the back and for the first 2 days we were wandering around trying to figure out where we were going ! We got over this !! But what we did not get over was the male staff who insisted on pestering us and annoying us even when we pretended to be asleep by the pool!!! The same at every meal time !!! now certain females there at the time enjoyed the male attention but as 3 girls with boyfriends we didn't appreciate it !! food as we said earlier we r not fussy but oh my god !!! is this fish or chicken conversation was had a few times !!! just not a good option! did not find the outside of the hotel safe . on the plus side the beach is fabulous and the pool is nice !!
