Well done to all the staff at this hotel we returned home on the 25th April 2012 wish we were still there. All the staff were helpful and nothing was too much trouble. The food was good and plentiful no complaints or stomach trouble and the hotel was clean. The evening entertainment was disappointing as we were out of season so did not expect too much. For our party and expectations it ticked all the boxes for us. Would certainly go again. Well done Thomas Cook for picking this one.

Room Tip: Sea view was good road traffic is noisy though

We visited for 2 weeks over Easter with our 10 year old daughter and overall was disappointed with some aspects of the holiday,
Transfer time from the airport is about 40 mins on a coach. Check in at reception was fairly average and little information was given about the hotel and it's facilities. The room was good, large with a king bed and a put up for the child. This did not make the room feel crapped. We had a side sea view that overlooked the hotel next door. The bathroom had a shower over the bath but only a shower gel in a unit on the wall, no separate bottles. The hairdryer was like a vacuum attached to the wall that was too hot to handle after 5 mins and was the worse I have ever used!! Often we were only given 2 bathroom towels for the 3 of us. There is a safe in the room but you have to pay a deposit for the key for the 2 weeks.
The hotel overlooks the promenade and road so the pool is located at the opposite side of the hotel. The pool is not very big and yes there were plenty of sunlougers but the hotel wasn't even half full and over the Easter weekend when occupancy was high it was swelled by locals coming on holiday who do not have the habit of sitting in the sun all day!! We counted max 100 loungers and based on the number of rooms in the hotel in high season you would resemble penguins crushed together in the pool. The star friends offered games around the pool, not our thing but it was there if you wanted it. Sadly music blared out and unless you were an 80's music fan than it wasn't for you, There was a pool bar that only did drinks - no food. Towels for the pool area had to be obtained from reception and a deposit required for them.
There is use of part of the beach across from the hotel but this was not in use and was quite dirty and uninviting.
Food - this was our bug bear. Breakfast, lunch and dinner could be taken in the main restaurant and there was a small restaurant near the pool for lunch. However if you were on all inclusive you could only eat there after 2.30pm and only have a cheeseburger, spag bol, salad or pizza from the menu. Everything else was payable. How strange??? I found the buffet in the main restaurant to be quite small and often items were cold especially the stews in the middle. The main restaurant reminded me of a canteen. Our waiter Malek was excellent though and they did provide a sort of cake for my birthday. I have never been to an all inclusive with so few eating outlets. You can dine around at other Iberostars in the a la carte's but you can only have a drink with your meal, not in the bar of these hotels. You can also visit the Medina for the show where food is included but not drinks. This was poor also.
The bar area inside was pleasant but at times it felt like you were drinking in a corridor due to the unusual layout of the hotel. There is no bright, airy reception area. The bar staff were very good.
Hammamet itself is not very exciting. The streets were dirty and many of the street lights were broken. I visited Tunisia 20 and 15 years ago (dif resort) and I felt it had stayed stuck in a time warp. Many buildings with plans attached remained unfinished. Shopkeepers are desparate for your business and will go to extremes to get you in their shops, even literally pushing my daughter to go in so we would follow - shame on you.
The weather was mixed so when it did rain there was little to do. Don't forget that it is a closed currency and Dinars can be exchanged in the hotel and then exchanged back at the airport before security, this makes the airport expensive as you have to pay in sterling. Cigarettes were cheap at about £2.50 a packet in the hotel and £2.90 at the airport.
We made some nice friends - hi to Brain and Leanne, Louise and Tina and thank them for their company in the evenings as the star friends shows were not great.
I would not return to Tunisia or this hotel as there are far more better all inclusives in the world. Having said that it was a cheap price for 2 weeks so maybe I should have known better. Iberostar - we booked you after using your hotels before, maybe you could take some tips from the Iberostars in the caribbean - if your a 5 star then they are 7 star!!

We went as a family with kids aged 8 and 10 in the easter holidays.
Unfortunately the 2nd week weather was worse than the 1st and we had rain on a few days.
As stated by others the outdoor pool was very cold.
The indoor pool is salt water and used for therapies in the day hence only available to all guests 12-2 and 5-6pm. It was warm but small.
The animation team were variable with Hamdi standing out for his enthusiasm and Ilyas for his cheerful disposition despite limited English.
The shows were OK- with the Fakir show being a bit eye watering!
The reception staff were miserable and the Thomas Cook rep was like a ghost in her infrequency of appearance.
The hassle from the quadbike team was eventually sorted by asking about insurance- suddenly they stopped hassling us!
The food choice was fantastic in the main restaurant. The buffet poolside was also good with an excellent helpful staff member there.
Re the eat around- go to the Chich Khan- the mexican is good there- and use their free wi-fi!
The other eat arounds are OK
All in all very relaxing and probably would be 10/10 in hot weather

Room Tip: 4th floor sea view

As this was our first trip to Tunisia we didn't really know what to expect. The hotel was superb and the staff made the stay even better. The location of the hotel is excellent and it is easy to walk around the area. We went for a break at the end of February, feeling very tired and needing to recharge our batteries. After 2 weeks we came back feeling very refreshed.

The weather was not that great for most of the time, but we were happy to read and relax in the hotel. I'm a swimmer and I was really looking forward to swimming, but the indoor pool is very small and is only open for a few hours each day which means it is always crowded, so that was disappointing for me. The outdoor pool is fabulous but was far too cold that time of year.

The restaurant was amazing with food to please all palates. There was a big salad buffet, breads of all descriptions, soup, about a dozen hot dishes and someone grilling fish, chicken, etc at every meal. The desserts looked wonderful, but we opted for oranges (delicious) and fresh dates which were a real treat.

The service was first class, in particular our 2 waiters, Hatem and Malek, who saw to our every need. Our favourite meals were the nights when they would serve Tunisian specialties and the whole restaurant was lit by candlelight.

The animation team were great also and tried to ensure that everyone had a good time and were well looked after.

The only other negative aspect was the internet which kept crashing. Each time that would happen we would lose all our money for the hour. If you need to keep in touch by email, I would recommend taking a laptop.

This holiday was fantastic value for money and we would readily go back to this same hotel again.

We had 2 weeks at Easter and whilst the weather was hit and miss in parts, the hotel and staff were wonderful. The food was excellent, the service even better. The animation team worked tirelessly to make our stay better - enjoyed the archery !!! Malek, Hamdi & Karim were the standout staff - but the bar staff were brilliant and couldn't do enough to help. The only criticism would be the guys selling quad bike trips. We were clearly told by our Tour Rep on the trip from the airport to the hotel, that these shouldn't be used. They got very irritated and disgruntled when we refused to get involved. Thats my only criticism though - the hotel is a high end 4 star, probably not a 5 star in fairness. Great atmosphere, more than enough sunbeds round the pool and a fantastic pool itself - really clean. Can't really find fault we thoroughly enjoyed and will certainly be back next year for sure.

If you want a great holiday in a wonderful hotel with wonderful staff ...... then look no further.

Oh yeah, and try to avoid the bunch of irritating French idiots who tried to cause trouble at every excuse. Most French were great .... this lot - (k)nobs !!!!

Room Tip: Book the Solaria !!
