“Great relaxing holiday”
Reviewed 15 February 2014

Spent 14 nights here with my Boyfriend in October 2013.
We got it fairly cheap as it was a last minute holiday.
I feel we got good value for money.
The rooms were big and clean. The shower leaked and a man came to repair it but it didn't fix it. In the end we just out a towel down every night.
The food was as good as you can expect from an all inclusive. There was a lot of options and even though I can be a fussy eater there was always something I liked. They do themed nights which was nice. You also get one visit for stay to their a la carte restaurants.
For lunch we went to 'snack around the world' that did chips and pizza as the main restaurants offered meaty stew things for lunch.
We had the pancakes and coffee every afternoon around 5 which was really nice.
There are three huuuuuge pools. We went to the quieter one near the beach. There was always sun loungers and didn't have to listen or watch the entertainment team doing thing stuff.
There is loads to do if you want to, likewise you can do as little as you want.
We made use of the archery and water canoes. Wish we had done the water skiing though.
The staff were always really polite. We sat in the same area of the dinner hall every night and got served by the same man. By the end of the holiday we would walk in and he would have a diet coke and a beer waiting for us! We tipped him at the end and on the last day tipped at lunch to get rid of the dinars we had left.
We booked a tour through Thomson to historical Tunisian landmarks. This was okay, not really my thing but it broke up the holiday for us.
My boyfriend did the paragliding on the beach and said our hotel looked the nicest (although we might be biased!)
We were tricked by the camel riders on the beach. BE SURE TO NEGOTIATE A PRICE BEFORE YOU GET ON. They demand stupid amounts of money off you.

This hotel would be perfect for family who have children 4-15 because there's so much to do to keep them occupied. Likewise, I'm 22 and want for a total chill out and it was perfect for the price I paid.

Stayed here for two weeks on a family holiday, a fantastic (and safe) place to go with a young family. The grounds and pool areas are well maintained and the hotel is situated on the beach.
There are lots of daily activities to keep you occupied from archery to beach volleyball there is something for everyone

The food served in the main restaurant was good, after the two weeks It was good to get a change, breakfast was enjoyable and the fresh egg omelettes were delicious. The Thai restaurant was poor with little atmosphere, If you want Thai food best place to go would be Thailand not Tunisia. The chefs in the main restaurant were hard working and kept busy keeping up with demand and were always happy to assist.

Lynn and her team in the Mungo kids club were very good at entertaining the kids and keeping them busy throughout the day.

If you like to keep fit you may enjoy the morning (8am) mountain bike trips, cycle manager Alex
will keep you in shape with 20-70k trips each day taking you out to the farm and mountain areas of Tunisia. This was a great way to get out the hotel and see a different side of Tunisia.

The staff were extremely child friendly and attentive but not in your face which I like. Our waiter Amoure looked after us for the two weeks in the restaurant and providing great service each day, Mohammed worked hard at the family pool and the standards dropped on his days off as no one seemed to cover his responsibilities.

The beach bar cleanliness was poor and flies outnumbered the free drinks being served each day, the bar area needs a good deep clean and I was put off eating or drinking from this bar.

A very enjoyable holiday with lots to do

Room Tip: Stay clear of room 217 as it had a very small balcony which let very little light in to the room, th...

I'll keep this shortish,I could go on about the barman ,waiter, chamber maid etc.but no, from entering the hotel to leaving 7 days later the staff were very polite and friendly to both of us ,the food was generally good ,I like bacon in the morning but they do not serve it at all (shame)
One down side is english tea ,because the main guests are German (no probs) english tea was not on offer, but thanks to LORRAINE (told her she'd get a mention) the thomson rep she came up with loads for us, a life saver .
Entertainment would'nt win Brtains got talent but they tried very hard to entertain us
This hotel is kept in a spotless condition.
Having been to a lot of hotels around the world we would happily go back again.

Nice place - a lot of clear water and a friendly european languages speaking staff. Beach is wonderful especially at early morning. All the food are delicious, especially tunisian. Pahlava (Baklava sweets) is best i have ever tasted. Nice billiard rooms and a very very green territory is a huge plus in a such a hot country as Tunisia. You can eat and drink everything you like as this hotel maintains all-inclusive system for all its guests. At lobby you can arrange a nice tour to capital of Tunis, Carthage or Sidi-bu-Said (recommend this place). All is on very high level. Also don't forget to buy famous tunisian clothes and leather bags or wallets! Sad there weren't any fresh juices at hotel and in some rooms a very noisy sounds from some mechanisms outside hotel (left wing of hotels 1st floor). But anyway, if you like sea and sun and friendly Arabian culture - you're welcome!

Room Tip: Better not to choose ground floor and not to choose left wing, as in some rooms are noise from somew...

Had a fantastic fortnight here. Staff were all friendly, hardly any member would walk by you without a "hello", including the maids, gardeners and technicians. First room, 206, was clean and had plenty of space, but was rather dark and the generator at the adjacent hotel could be heard when the patio door was open. We mentioned this to reception and we were moved almost immediately to room 236, which was twice the size and had a pool view. Entertainment was fantastic and free watersports a definite bonus, although I only used the banana boat once as swimming out and getting in it about gave me a coronary! The food in the main restaurant was superior to the a la carte restaurants. We only used the Tunisian once, and the Mediterranean once, but in total we could have used the 3 restaurants twice each. Lots of Germans when we were there, we only encountered pleasant ones. However, there was some towel stealing, and with 2 old German women who had 7 towels between them appearing to be the likely suspects.

Room Tip: If you're not happy with your room, tell the reception desk. If they have availability they will...

We have just spent a week here and could easily have stayed on. A fabulous place I would defy anyone not to find something to do or eat! We are ardent Riu fans and took a risk on this as it stacked up well on price. My God it was a good deal without all the stuff to do as well! If we were all day on the go sports people it would be the bargain of the year!

From the welcome at stupid o'clock through to the man who monitors the toilets everyone gives great service and is so friendly.

The rooms are large and whilst ours didn't have a view we didn't care as we aren't in much! The bathroom although nicely tiled suffers from a narrow bath and ridiculous screen and curtain arrangement which makes showering a bit of a hassle, but again it's not the main thing we are there for! The beds were very comfortable but the pillows need improvement, ask for different ones as there is all sorts. The maid was so nice, left the lovely towel swans and flowers when she saw my birthday cards and our room was a tip every day so we did leave more than the going rate for her tip!

If you like to do activities, normally spend money on watersports etc then go here. You will save a fortune when you work out hourly rates for tuition and hire! The watersports are Catamaran - you need a licence, if you have one then you're quids in, if not the course is e150 and you'll have it for next place you go - Canoes, waterskiing, banana boats. The guy up the way is charging e10 for a banana ride so if you have kids who want to do this all day you will save alot!

The sports tuition is professional and my husband did archery with Daniel who has competed in Austrian championships and teaches you properly. There are segregated levels of tennis. there is also the fun stuff of darts and shuffleboard and so much fitness stuff you wouldn't sit down all day!

The pools are great, the main one has all the usual stuff Magic Life Radio and games but the relax pool is beautiful and secluded and you can hear a pin drop. The new pools at the bottom on the right before the beach are easy to miss and very quiet at the moment, there is talk of putting waterslides in here for next season.

This is the only hotel I have been to with recycling bins and information. It has also won so many awards, they are displayed on a huge wall in reception and take some reading through. Sadly the employee awards have not been updated since the summer and this is a shames as it is clearly something the staff are proud of. This is also a superb place for wheelchairs as ramps are everywhere and there is a disabled area reserved right next to the path on the beach.

Clientelle - yes this is predominantly German but they were very nice, active and friendly. I found it a refreshing change from the rude Russians and the moaning British!

The main restaurant is bigger than any we have had with Riu and the choice is staggering. There is not a vast amount for veggies but I was happy enough and I am a fussy veggie. For meat and fish eaters the choice is overwhelming with BBQ outside at the rear of the restaurant as well as rows and rows of choice from pasta to stew to tunisian specials. The veg is very nice and not too soft as can be the case with all inc. The breakfasts and lunches have great choice. but the pizza, chips, burgers etc are at the lunch restaurant in the gardens which can be a bit awkward if you have people who wanted different things. The paninis at the beach bar a fine too. The waiters are lovely, unfortunately our favourite ones serving outside in yellow t-shirts didn't have name badges so I cannot name them to Magic Life, but they were superb always smiling and chatting and re-filling drinks. We went to the a la carte Mediterranean and my husband was disappointed the sea bass was so small but the steak was huge so he wished he'd had that! again service in here superb. Wine was very drinkable I liked it more than Moroccan.

We did not encounter anyone being ill at this hotel.

We do tip during our stays and we received fantastic service, but we did before we tipped which is why we tipped if you see what I am getting at! Moez is a great bar man and there are so may others names haven't remembered sorry.

The beach became more sea-weedy whilst we were there as end of season the sea is rougher. We loved the sea and prefer it with waves but it could have been a bit of an issue with small children.

Children - we didn't have any with us but the Mungo Club is a sight to see! The organisation which goes into this is impressive and even sulky teenagers love the leaders so much they go every day. They even offer a bookable kids dinner service if parents want to have a night or two to themselves or romantic meal in a la carte etc.

Key Cards - they are affected by placing them in with mobile phones. Put them in another pocket and you'll be fine. Working in tech I knew this would be the issue having read reviews and successfully did this all week :)

Didn't use spa.

We would definitely return to this hotel and have added Magic Life to our list of trusted brands. Fabulous staff, spotlessly clean and great food and drink choice, activities galore. What more could you really want?

Room Tip: If you are bothered about a view then upgrade etc. All rooms are large.

Well what can I say? In all honesty, the first few days I would have given this hotel a rating of about a three but it definitely got so much better!
The holiday didn't start that great with the queuing at Enfida Airport. It is a joke of a place but if you are well prepared then you can see the funny side of it and it doesn't get you down much. The transfer to the Hotel is an experience in itself. Being our first trip to Tunisia, we were amused by the sights we saw along the roads. Motorbikes with usually two or three non helmeted Tunisians, I even spotted 1 Tunisian and 1 sheep together on a motorbike! The whole area towards the Hotel looks a little like a war zone with run down windowless buildings and rubbish strewn everywhere, we both really thought we had made a mistake by booking this holiday.
First Impressions of the Hotel were pretty good, it looked more lively than a couple of the drop off along the way and Magic Life music blaring out of a speaker out the front. We had read previous reviews on Tunisia and were told not to let anyone help with the luggage, but they insist here. Just go with it, they do expect a tip but you will learn quickly that everyone expects a tip but you don't have to give one if you don't want to. You are welcomed to the hotel with a cocktail and forms to fill in then pick up your room keys and towels.
Ok the room Cards, now I have read previous reviews and because of them we had an issue when we got to our room as they didn't seem to work. They do always work and don't need resetting or anything but there is certainly a knack to it and once you figure it out it is fine, You just have to be slow and steady with them. During the week we saw other newbies having the same trouble as we did so gave them a hand, by your last day you will handle the room cards like a pro I promise.
We had an absolutely amazing room. No real view to speak of but so large and so very quiet that it felt so comfortable as soon as we walked in. There is a fridge stocked with soft drinks, an easy to use safe & surprisingly a hair-dryer that actually dries hair! The cleaners were brilliant and came in every day and it wasn't the cleanest room in the world but it was lovely for us. The TV has a couple of English speaking channels if you need your TV. A small bonus was that even though our room was so far from reception we could pick up WiFi in certain parts of the room.
There are plenty of pools to choose from, closest to our room was the relax pool. A nice chilled out area with water jets coming from the building, next was the activity pool with it's cavern bar. Always a buzzing atmosphere here, with the entertainment team recruiting for the days activities. There is a bit of something for everyone there. Finally there is the newly built family pools. This area was where we stayed mostly on our pool days as we found it the area with the most sun loungers and also you didn't have the entertainment team around but there was still a brilliant vibe and a lovely view of the beach.
We only had one trip to swim in the sea from the beach a the hotel and personally wouldn't recommend it. The beach is lovely with slightly course sand and there are plenty of loungers but it is just a bit dirty and unfortunately the sea is the same. Trying to swim through all the debris was so challenging that we decided to get back to the pool.
On the beach there are many activities, certainly something foe everyone and we did the Parachute and jet skiing. I can highly recommend these, so much cheaper than other countries and so enjoyable. The instructor guys didn't have a great grasp on the English language but it was such a good experience and so glad we did it.
Another trip we booked with one of the reps from the hotel was Quad biking. Please do not be put off by a man coming up to you in the reception area offering a quad bike trip, if he is wearing a Magic Life badge he is OK and his name is Samir & trust me it is not a trip you want to miss! We had a brilliant time going across the wastelands, up and down hills and seeing some amazing scenery. A two hour trek that from start to end is exhilarating.
The main restaurant has theme nights which breaks things up a bit. On the whole the food isn't brilliant but they do their best. It all gets a little samey and if you are like us and don't want to tip sometimes the wait for your drink can be lengthy. We never went hungry and at lunch we usually stuck to the snack bar or the beach bar for a panini, There are themed restaurants which we didn't try. The drinks are pretty good, we stuck to the beer mostly and enjoyed several in the Captain Bar in the evening watching the random and sometimes puzzling entertainment. We didn't see the shows in the Amphitheatre as we found that being on the outside of the building it just didn't flow with our evening waiting around for the small slot of something happening.
One massive piece of advice I will give if you come to this Hotel is bring plenty of money with you. It is free to change at the hotel and change what you need. We didn't and trying to find a bank at night with all the touts around you is an experience in itself. Everything is so cheap in Tunisia so just change up what you need but ensure you have plenty with you.
Overall even though we will probably never go back to Tunisia, we would recommend Club Magic Life Africana Imperial. It has plenty to do and you will never be bored.
Go on give it a go!!!!!

Room Tip: 702 So very quiet with a bit of a view of the sea. Right next to the relax pool and Captain bar
