“Excellent”

Albeit at its infancy, this hotel has already surpassed its peers by leaps and bounds, and is in my opinion the best hotel in Tunis. I hosted a dinner party for 20 clients at Dar el Marsa - the food, service, and ambiance exceeded my expectations. I'd like to thank the staff for their commitment to quality, high standards, and excellence & wish them many years of success. Bravo, keep up the good!

In late March we found ourselves with an extra day in Tunisia and no hotel reservations. We had just visited Sidi Bou Said, the artist town twenty minutes north of the main airport of Tunisia. After driving around the peninsula, we stumbled upon the town of Marsa – three or four miles to the west of Sidi Bou Said where we came upon a beautifully designed six story building: the Hotel Dar el Marsa. To our surprise we were able to get a room in this five star hotel. The hotel was fairly new – having just opened the previous year.

The staff was very helpful. Only after we had booked our room and signed in did we find out they spoke English as well as French but at all times their demeanor was gentile. In keeping with their five star status, we were treated to a light service of tea while our room was being prepared.

Our room was spacious and as beautifully appointed as the rest of the hotel. (The beds were the first comfortable beds we had slept in for over a week.) And the fabrics throughout the room were exquisite. The attention to design detail was amazing. Our wash basin was a work of art. We felt like we were on a movie set in St. Tropez.

The room rate included a continental breakfast served on the terrace of our room overlooking the sea and the famous blue and white buildings of Tunisia. The breakfast itself was a treat and again, the design details made the experience wonderful. Our breakfast arrived on time and was laid out for us with impeccable courtesy. (Which describes all of our interactions with the hotel staff.)

The hotel itself was just as charming as our room. The rooftop swimming pool and its view of the main promenade and beaches of Marsa were breathtaking. Our only regret was that we weren't staying long enough to take advantage of the serene and restful health spa.

In summary: Were it not for commitments in Rome, we would have canceled our plane reservations and stayed at the hotel for another two days.
