I did not have high hopes for an "all-inclusive-tourist-resort" but this was nice. Big rooms and very good food! It was fresh and high qualtiy. The place is huge but has atmosphere. Only downside was the har pillows and the VERY cold rooms in late april. When we told reception if there was some heat to turn off, the answer was quite rude and unfriendly. Also checkin was very unfriendly. While we were checking in, the receptionist started servicing other people. Only wi-fi in common areas, which was a huge downsiide since it is allowed to smoke there, and REALLY SMOKE!

Stayed only one night and despite the lack of service, would have loved to stay one more night

I booked a superior room for 1 night at this hotel with my wife and my 3 month child. We arrived on Tuesday around 12:30 and the room wasn't ready which is normal (check in time is at 2 PM. The front desk staff gave us access to the restaurant. Back at 2:30 and room wasn't ready. At 3:PM they assigned us room 221. As soon as we walked in the room smelled humidity and the floor was cracking. Soap was already used, bed sheets were dirty. On top of that I clearly mentonned that I had a baby with me and I got a room on 1rst floor with no access with the elevator. We returned to the front desk and told them that the room didn't meet our expectation and asked to change room. The front desk clerk told us he couldn't do anything because they were sold out and we had to wait until he's manager finishes lunch at the restaurant!! We were sitting in the lobby and we got an other room only at 4PM and the manager didn't even talk to us. We got room 2232 witch is much better with acces with the elevator.
Since we were leaving the next day, we were packing in our room and we receive a phone call at 11:45 AM informing us we need to check out. We felt as we where kick out from the hotel although the previous day we had to wait 4 PM to get our room and we didn't complain about it.
Restaurant experience wasn't good also. No grilled meat except for pork and the waiter saw us coming and he did not set up the table for us. We had to do it our self.

Just returned from a wonderful week at Mahdia beach. It was perfect for us as we just wanted to unwind and relax after a hectic time.
It was mainly frequented by elderly Germans; only 3 British parties that we were aware of. This didn't bother us at all,but may bother others who wish to socialise more?
It was very 'end of season' and got quieter as the week went on, there were fewer guests and facitlities were closing down...pool bar, a la carte restaurant, crazy golf.
I wasn't sure what to expect climate wise. The first week of november ranged from 23-30c, so really quite pleasant. The sea was cool but refreshing!! Not many people ventured into the rather splendid pool.
Our only negative was the airport transfer which took 4.5 hours(stated on forms 2hrs 50 mins) So be prepared.
Can't comment on Tunisia as a country as we didn't venture off site, but the Tunisian people(waiters, cleaners, reception staff) were thoughtful, helpful and respectful.

Room Tip: We were given a poolside room which we didn't want. We were offered a choice of 3 other rooms an...

Just came back from a week's break with a girl friend. Got the holiday on an all inclusive package deal. Flew into Tunis airport which was a 3 hour transfer although the flight itself was only 2.5 hours which isn't bad at all. If we go back, we'd try to fly into the nearby airports.

First impressions:

The hotel is very big, decor is traditional but grand. The room we were in had a double bed and 2 singles. It could do with a bit of updating to be honest. The mattress and pillows weren't very comfortable but at least functional and air con too which is a bonus especially with the 35 degree heat! The hair dryer was pathetic so bring your own or expect to have damp hair throughout the holiday!

The food was pretty varied although I can imagine it being a little boring if you are there longer than a week. We loved the soups at dinner time, very tasty. The snack bar near the pool is a good alternative if you don't want a big meal at lunch as they serve drinks, pizzas, chips and kebab sandwiches until about 5pm. The ice cream hut is open pretty much all day which is great to keep cool throughout the day. The swim up pool bar is really cool with waterfalls and very well located although sometimes you may have to wait a few minutes to be served if you are on the other side of the bar.

The beach is just through the gates behind the pool. It's a long beach with lovely soft sand. Lots of hustle and bustle with lots of people offering water sports, paraglide trips and selling souvenirs at a pretty reasonable price. There are snack bars along the beach which looked like reasonable prices too.

The pool is very big with lots of shallow parts for relaxing in and for children. Lots of sunbeds; we had no problem finding somewhere to go.

The animation team works so hard every day entertaining guests. Starting from around 10am there are activities throughout the day such as water polo, darts, aqua gym, archery etc and they put on a show every evening too. The team are all very friendly, always chatting to guests and encouraging you to get involved. Although my friend and I were often glued to our sunbeds which I think they just gave up on asking us in the end!!

There's not much outside of the hotel unless you traveled 30-45 minutes out into the next big town Seus. The close by Mahdia town itself has a couple of bars/snack cafes and shops but nothing major. There are a few shops, supermarkets near the hotel though for picking up souvenirs.

We and another couple were the only English people at the hotel. The hotel was dominated by Germans for the week we were there. Although the animation team do speak good level of English so there's no problem there. You may struggle a little with the restaurant waiters although we got by.

The hotel has its own disco which opens at midnight after the all inclusive service ends. At weekends, it's very busy with people visiting from outside of the hotel; although during the week, it's much quieter as not many hotel guests go there. Perhaps the hotel could offer guests discounted drinks to encourage more people to go.

Overall it was a great relaxing holiday as that's what we were looking forward to. Lots of sun, friendly people. Very enjoyable! Thank you Mahdia Beach :-)

2 weeks in Mahdia Beach. Hotel is OK I would rate it 2 stars. The Staff is awful, I took my wife on a day trip when returned our IPhone was stolen out of our room. The thief obviously had a key the staff did nothing. We went to the Police Nada. As the vacation went along we had sunglasses stolen, our friend had thier perfume used from thier room, and other items missing. The people are only friendly IF you give them money. If your planning a trip here have low expectations of the Staff and DON'T even Bring valuables. Several guests complained of stealing and the hotel does nothing.
