We have just returned from two weeks at the El Mouradi, and I have to say we normally do small hotels so goin gto a bigger complex was new to us but I can't fault it. We stayed in a menzel near teh beach and the rooms were cleaned daily by the maids, with fresh towels, which she made into shapes, we had hearts and swans with flowers.
The staff were very helpful and in the restaurant if you tip your waiter they will look after you for your stay. We had drinks on the table every meal time and they kept coming. On our last night he put flowers on our table and made shells with our napkins. The Amination team i cant fault always thinking of new ways to keep you entertained at the pool side and involving you in activities for a 'diploma'. Friendly competition. In the evening the shows were all perfomed by the same team apart from the traditional Tunisian dancing, they encourge audience participation and even include the kids. I found that the team all got to know us and our names and adivised us when we said we were going into the towns. There were always sunbeds and shade available and the lifeguards more than happy to hunt them down for you, the pool was cleaned everynight as was the pool side.
We went on the Oasis safari, to the sahara desert and it was fantastic, booked through the rep, apart from two days of travelling approx 900km we saw things you couldn't imagine and the only extra cost was drinks and a camel ride all other fees were included in the trip fee. We even went to a star wars set.
The only warning i would give is that if you do go to the town/capital be sure to be clear were abouts you want to be dropped by the taxi, befirm in saying No and watch for locals telling you they work in your hotel and they will take you to a shop were you can get good prices, they dont and you cant they get a cut of what you spend.
Other than that there was a wide range of activities to keep you entertained some at no cost others with a litlle charge like quad bikes 30dinar for two hours around Djerba (approx 12£), or horse riding which again was 2hrs at sunset you go across the beacha nd into the sea with them which was 25dinar (approx 10£) .
Would go again !

Room Tip: Ask for a bungalow/ menzal as they seemed bigger than the rooms in the hotel!

We have just returned from two weeks at this hotel, although we was delayed at manchester for three hours we were welcomed by a clean airy reception and a friendly gent. we quickly registered and got our room key. We stayed in a bungalow (although it was on the second floor) the room was big and had 4 beds, very clean and cool. All the staff were warm and friendly and made sure our holiday went well. the rep Rashid was more than helpful. the only down side was we went into Midoun and Homme Souk by taxi, it was cheap enough but the drivers dont seem to speak/understand english hence we ended up in some back streets and did a quick about turn back to hotel. Food was good, edible, a bit short on variety bur we didnt starve, even though we had to queue it was pretty fast moving... would i recommend this hotel..Yes, do all the things you wouldnt get chance to do.

we have just returned from a fab 2 weeks at el mouradi - djerba. We went as a family consisting of 4 adults and 2 children ages 11 and 8. We were placed in a bungalow in block I- a family room. The room was about a five minute walk from all the main amenities of the main hotel and swimming pool, the only moan i have about this is thomas cook charged us another £200 as they said there was no bungalows left but then the hotel allocated this on arrival. Also i wouldn't get the transfers from thomas cook again as they charged £90, but a cab could of cost less than £15 there and back. The room was attended too daily by the maid and we even got towels shaped as hearts and shells. Our block had been renovated so the room was very clean. The hotel appears to be shutting down blocks 1 at a time to completely gut and re-renovate.

Yes there are not many english here but this is a relatively new country for the brits to visit over the past few years. The hotel has many nationalities staying, but this is the same for all countries. The hotel staff are very pleasant to the guests, but a tip of approx 2 dinars a day(approx 80p) goes a long way to getting an even better service. In the evening when we went to dinner we had the same table every night with all our drinks waiting for us. Even in the barbeque restaurant next the beach, if it was fully booked they used to slot us in.

The animation team are one of the best i have come across in a hotel. They worked non stop from 10.00 to 02.00 every day. There are approx 12 of them who all have their own area of sport during the day, ranging from volleyball to salsa lessons. The evening shows are all done by the team except for the tunisian dance every week. If you ask for a music CD though, of their show music, buy with caution as we paid £10 and when we got home there was nothing on it.

The environment at the hotel and grounds is spotlessly clean and if something is broken it will be fixed within a day. All pool areas are washed down every night. There are 3 main pool areas. We spent 3 days around the large salt water pool. If you go to this pool then take some goggles as the salt really stings your eyes. We then went to the square pool which over looks the sea. We found this one much better for the children as the british guests seemed to go to this pool and the children found friends to play with. There are plenty of sunshades for every family and the sunbeds are plentiful with the added bonus of a cushion for the bed. Considering we went in the height of summer and the hotel holds 1500 people this is normally unheard of, as your normally fighting for a sunbed.

We went the midoun market on a friday morning and the cab journey took about 10 minutes and cost 4 dinars (approx £1.60) they do like the tourists and can keep asking to buy from them, but all countries are like this and if you tell them no they respect this. One attraction which is a must is the crocodile zoo. Absolutely hundreds of crocodiles and if you go at 17.00 you will see them being fed.

There are quite alot wild cats at the hotel but they are very tame and friendly, the staff feed them every day. If my kids could of brought them home we would of had a suitcase full of kittens.

One warning though is not to see the doctor if you can help it. They charged 80 dinars just for consultation and we later found out it should of been 65 dinars. If you need medical advise then go to the pharmacy in midoun where there are english speaking staff.

There is food and drink available from 06.30 to 23.00. There is a huge variety of food available ranging from pizzas, seafood to the tunisian food. I am a very fussy eater with a food allergy as well and i still found something to eat every day. The food is always being replenished and hot. The restaurant did become very busy though at lunch time but this very mainly due to the celebration of the end of ramadam.

I really don't know why people on other reviews have been so negative about this hotel. If they expected 5* service they needed to go to a 5* hotel. They have never said the fridge in the room is stocked up and the hotel beach towels are free you just need to give a 10 dinar deposit, which is returned when you take the towels back. We as a family would go back there and would high recommend to anyone.. Would love to go again soon

A great place,a good welcome to start with, our room(the menzal)was huge clean and exceeded our expectations(book 1 of them if a family)towels and bedding changed daily, the restaurant was busy but there was over 1000 people there, food was good if you want pie and chips don't go.the many pools were good although apart from 1 they are salt water.the entertainment was to a high standard the animation team work hard all day and night to keep you entertained and the shows they put on were excellent, not many shops for buying souvenirs but the organized excursions were great,so all in all a great holiday if you want England you won't get it so don't go and start complaining its Tunisia, except there way of life and you'll have a great time.

First of all you get what you pay for. I don`t understand all this people with unrealistic expectations. 4 of us spent 2 weeks in El Mouradi Jerba Menzel and we did have a great time.
The Hotel complex is huge, many bungalows are there and some of theme are a bit far from the beach, pool, restaurant etc, so my main advise is try to get the room in the main building and you`ll be fine.
Rooms and bathrooms were very specious, always clean, we had big terrace with sea view and our friends were looking at the main stage so it was a bit loud till 23h and afterwards you could here music from the beach bar, but not that you can`t sleep. Humidity at Jerba gets a bit high at august so towels and your clothes will always be somehow wet so you just have to get use to it.
There are 2 pools with very salty water that can be harsh on your eyes for the first few days and there is one smaller pool with fresh water but it was mostly for the families with children but i did have nice swim routine for few days but you have to be there before 7am. Also if you want to have nice place on the beach or at the pool, you should put your towel on the sunbed around 7am, this is the case in high season maybe is not like that later, when there is less guests.
Beach was nice, sunbeds were not close to each other so you have enough privacy, we had 7 days of nice azure water and 7 days of sea weed and muddy water, but that is normal for this time of year, but there is always a poll so don`t worry.
Most of the guest are French, then Italian, and then English and German. Hotel was full so you have to be quick and skilled to get your food in the restaurant because people are very slow and confused and it takes ages for most of them to decide what to eat. So my advise is have a breakfast around 8am, lunch around 13:30pm and dinner around 20:30pm and you will maybe be lucky to have stress free meal. We missed all the specialties like tuna barbecue and different sea food because we didn't want to stand in the line and wait for 20mins. We are vegetarians and there was loads of varieties that you can choose from and still have a great meal. Sweets were delicious and not too sweet so don`t even try to resist them :)
Animation team was very hard working and helpful and always in good mood. Loads of activities that you can join and in the evening always a different show and afterwards dancing at beach bar.
We went on trip with a speed boat to see the dolphins and we were lucky enough to see them and this trip is a must. The closest town is Midoun and it takes around 4 dinars to get there by taxi but there is not much to see, mostly men sitting in cafes, not very clean but you can find loads of souvenirs and big supermarket were everything is much cheaper than in Hotel.
So all in all we had very nice, relaxing and sunny, holiday. Just don`t expect 5 star, small and too quiet hotel, but do expect to have a great weather, beautiful sea, loads of activities and you will have one of the best holidays.

We have just arrived back from our stay in this hotel for 7 nights. We had to change our room twice we were put in the bungalows at first and i suggest if anyone is thinking about staying at this hotel not to book the bungalows. They are dirty with air conditioning units that didnt work the bathroom looked like it had not been cleaned and the small bedroom was like a prison cell and one of the rooms didnt even have a fridge in it.

We had to pay to change our room in the end and stay in the hotel which was alot better with working air con in the room. The hotel only had air con in reception so where you went down for breakfast and diiner was like a sweat town for everyone and very uncomfortable to eat everyday even though the food was fine.

We were also made to beleive the towels down at the pool were free well we had to pay for them and we thought that the fridges in rooms would be filled everyday with water and soft drinks and they weren't.

one of my friends was very ill on our stay and had to see the doctor and needed to change up some money to pay for her medication and they cash point machine was out of order in the hotel and the man that worked behind the money booth refused to change our money unless we paid him first.

The good points was the food was fine and entertainmant in evening was ok. Pool area was nice to.

All in all i would not go back to this hotel ever again and would never suggest anybody to stay there it certainly is NOT a 4 star hotel as advertised.

Room Tip: Stay in the Hotel not the bungalows
