“The BEST package All Inclusive we have ever been to!”
Reviewed 12 May 2014

We can honestly say, we have never been to such a nice 4* all inclusive hotel for such a good price. The food was exceptional and something for everyone, they even have a kids food corner. Grill cooking freshly at evey sitting. Pancakes and bread being cooked whilst you wait...EXCEPTIONAL. Bottles of water on hand whenever you want.
The staff coudl not do enough to help amnd work SO SO hard. The entertainment team were superb and made sure everyone was well looked after and even take you clubbing (if thats your cuppa).
The ONLY comment I can make is the location, there is nothing you can just walk to, seems the hotels nearer Sousse is where the action is but a taxi is pence so even the location is not an issue. Tunisian people are really lovely people.
We will DEFINATELY be returning to this hotel.

This is a negative review but i would urge people to read it. I have never had to complain, ask to change rooms and eventually hotels ever before! Im really not a picky or difficult customer!! After reading all the reviews and seeing pictures we were looking forward to our stay at the one resort. This was our first trip to tunisia but we have stayed in other all inclusive 4/5 * hotels in turkey and Egypt.
Over view: poor choice of drinks at restaurant and beach bar, staff did not help you to feel welcome, shabby in some areas, overall feel of butlins but with nice weather. Needs re-rating as we would say it was a 2* not 4 we paid good money and for an extra £70 we were moved to a different hotel that is of a much higher standard. Thomas Cook have been very helpful.
Upon arrival our bags were suddenly snatched and put on a trolley with no explanation as to what was happening we were aware there were porters but some conversation would have been nice as a couple of the new arrivals as well as ourselves were a little wary as something just didnt feel right. We were taken into reception and told to sit down to fill in some forms some people were offered drinks others werent including myself. After a while we got checked in we were in the old block which I understood hadnt been renovated but I went with an open mind as I dont usually mind as long as the room is up to a certain standard. The lift taking us up to the foor had a strong electrical smell about it and made a lot of noise I felt like it was on its way out we looked around the room which was in a poor condition numerous areas of paint were all obviously damaged and our view was the building site next door - I understand building work must be done but with everything else that had happened so far it didnt sit well! We asked to change rooms and they were prompt and moved us into the new building the new room was better so we decided it might be ok. We then decided to go to the beach asked for a g&t and vodka n coke at the beach bar and was told "no. beer, wine, coke" my mum was told by another guest that she must have thought she was in blackpool ordering a cocktail - is g&t a cocktail? We settled for a beer and a rose the beer was foul but trying to stay positive I said my wine was ok but really it wasn't. At this point we were both seriously thinking about going home! We had a sip of our drinks looked around at the beach that was littered with cigarettes and decided to try sitting round the pool, we then asked about the spa which was only available with AI at a certain point in the day a 1 hour slot all other times you had to pay. We went back to our rooms both really regretting our choice wondering how on earth we could get out of this place! Even the rainy weather in england seemed better. Some of the other guests had returned numerous times and said all they wanted was sun and food but having experience other hotels with much higher standards but for the same price we felt ripped off. Luckily we saw a thomas cook rep who we immediately grabbed - I bet he didnt know what to think with two angry/upset women but he was extremely helpful listening to our concerns and helping is choose somewhere else! Im currently lounging in the gardens of the maharba beach with cocktails available from all the bars beautiful service and beautiful food! Review of this one to follow when im back home! I just had to let people know of our experience with one resort before its too late! Obviously a lot of people like that resort but if its a relaxing holiday with a more luxourious feel you want then I would recommend paying £70 more (total for 2 people 1 week) and getting a much higher standard of hotel, service and general better feel to your holiday. I would advice thomas cook staff in England to do a anon visit to one resort to see what it is really lile.
As I was proof reading this a waiter came over to get us drinks and the lovely animation team came for a chat they try and talk you into joining activities but are understanding if you dont want to! Maharba beach is a really wonderful place! Lots of other british guests but all with a similar mindset of relaxing and having a good time!

Hotel: nice and big. Located in a cool area. Rooms are cleaned everyday. We got a double room in one of the small buildings and it was OK. It had a fantastic view on swimming pools and Monastir Airport (planes are not so noisy). Rooms in the main building are much nicer (must have been refurbished) but have same size and equipment. When there was a minor issue (the hairdryer was broken) the reception handled it quickly and efficiently. Guests mostly from France and Germany. Animation program is in 3 languages (French, German and English). I must say that the Animation Team deserves the 1st prize for their efforts, talent and shows they delivered every day. We felt very entertained all the time. All the Staff is nice, friendly and helpful. A good tip: leave tips when you feel it may be worth doing so. We left tips for the cleaning staff (everyday), bartenders (twice during our stay), reception (twice during our stay - and all our complaints, issues and questions were handled perfectly). Besides, there is a large box for tips located in the main area so no one really expects any tips from you. Just leave something at the end of your stay. We are extremely happy and can recommend this hotel to everyone, especially families with children. Oh, and one more thing. Make sure you go for a two day trip across Tunisia with Sahel Voyages. Pawel, our guide, showed us a true Tunisia. The tour is only in Polish. Thank you!!!

Room Tip: Main buiding has recently renovated rooms.

Firstly, let me start with the positives:
- The hotel is very clean and all fruits gets washed with bottled water, as well as tea and coffee are made using bottled water. This is important in North Africa and, in fact, we did not hear of a single case of diarrhea which you might otherwise get in this part of the world.
- The staff is generally very friendly and helpful. Also, it is nice how child-friendly everyone is, as this trait seems to be part of the Tunisian culture. Virtually everyone in the hotel speaks French (being the country's second language) and the reception and other staff in contact with hotel guests all speak German and English.
-The beach has a powdery, white sand, which resembles the one found in the Caribbean. Also, the sea is crystal-clear and clean. By all means, do not miss going into the sea even if you are fond of swimming pools!
- The nine slides are wonderful and varied. Our son loved them and also for adults they are good fun. Also, as opposed to other swimming pools with slides, there is never any wait: you go up and you slide, no long queue in front of you!
- The entertainment program in the evenings is nice with a different content every night (changes every fortnight, therefore, if you staying up to two weeks, you will see every night a different show). The dancers who perform in the evening are real talents and for some of them I was surprised why they do not dance in theatre-shows or musicals.
On the negative side:
- The food is mediocre. Although there is a large choice, the food essentially is the same all the time. After a week, we were a bit tired of always eating the same things. Also, being an Arabic country, I would have expected a few more grilled meat dishes.
- There are sometimes long queues for some kinds of food. In particular, at breakfast, expect a 25 minute queue for the freshly squeezed orange juice! Same for the pizza station in the evening, very long queues.
- For the pizza, which is freshly made in front of you, they ran out of 'proper' pizza cheese (a mozzarella surrogate) every single time within 30 minutes of serving dinner, and thereafter put on the pizza (which was immensely popular with all the children) some yellow non-properly melting breakfast cheese...absolutely horrible! As if the mozzarella surrogate were an expensive food!!!
- Our son had a little digital camera stolen from the room, nothing expensive, but still. When we advised reception and they spoke with hotel security, mysteriously the camera re-appeared after more than a week in the room, in a strange spot, where we would have never put it. We felt that it only reappeared because we made such a fuss about it. So, watch out for your property in the room and keep absolutely everything in the safe, if it has any value.

So, overall, the impression was good, especially for our son, who is six and had lots of fun. If you don't mind queuing up at every meal and dealing with a horrible-tasting pizza cheese and if you are careful to lock everything away in the safe, you should have a great time in this resort!

It was my best holiday ever and im sure that i will come again. Everything was great especially the animation team. They all are cute and friendly. There is many activities for everyone. The best thing was the show time at night. Dancers are professionals espesially the choreographer Momo and the animator Leo. The shows were interesting and amazing. I can recommend this hotel to everyone.

We stayed for the 2nd time in One resort Monastir. Although the hotel was fully booked, you never get the feeling that it is crowdy. The new swimming pool with tobogans is very attractive for children. This makes that the swimming pool at the seaside and the beach are not crowdy at all. Enough seats on the beach make that there is a place for everybody at any point in time. And if not, you just ask the security guard who helps to find a place. Service level is high. Staff ensure everything is cleas at any point in time. Regarding teh food: there is a variaty of dishes including tunesian food which is delisious. In the "L''Olympe" Spa you can enjoy massage, hammam, all kinds of treatments bringing you in a relaxed mood.

Room Tip: Do you like "cold" room without putting airco on and which a thte same time prevents yu fr...
