this is not a 4 star all inclusive resort. we have just got back from tunisia where we spent our first week at monistir centre. The rooms were awful, dirty bedding and no working air con. food was un edible, al a carte restuarant is not included in all inclusive and the bar advertised in all pictures was chargeable aswell. only place to eat was the buffet and you were lucky if you got a table to eat at. was not enough loungers or chairs by the pool, so if you didnt gt down by 5am you had nowhere to sit. The private beach is a roped of section which is open to anyone, very dirty, rubbish and human waste everywhere. security on resort very poor, locals can walk in and sit in bar area, we had to get someone removed as were making sexual advances towards us in the bar. swimming pool was dirty and chlorine only added once people taken to hospital of resort after chronic illness. after first week we had to pay extra 400 pounds and after occuring a phone bill of 400 pounds to sort this we were finally moved to port el kantoui which was like a completely different country and could not fault it at all.

My mum, dad, boyfriend and myself have just got back from tunisia. Originally we were meant to be spending 2 weeks in the monastir centre hotel but ended up paying an extra £400 to move hotels for the last week of our holiday. The staff were very friendly and cheerful but the hotel itself was a massive disappointment. The food was poor and not much choice for english taste my boyfriend and myself were both poorly for 5 consecutive days. There was an awful smell in my parents room, the air con did not work properly and the water from the shower was running a brown colour. Not only was the hotel a disappointment but monastir itself was dirty including the beach and there was nothing to do so we were grounded. Afterall our second week was fantastic. We moved to porte el kantoui we could not fault the place or the hotel what so ever it was like a complete different country. I truly would advise anybody not to go to the monastir centre.

We spend 2 weeks in Monastir Center with 3 kids (8, 10 and 13 years) and it was horrible! The buffet was lousy. If we came a little late, but still with 45 minutes to go, there was not much left and the quality of the food was bad. A lot of guests were sick!!
The swimmingpool was dirty. Sometimes you couldn't even see the bottom. Animation only played waterpolo twice a day. Not to entertain the (95% Tunisian and Libian) guests, but mainly to play with each other in a very agressive way. I needed to get my kids out of the water! The tables and chairs around the pool were always dirty and so was the floor. On different occassions 3 of our famillymembers stepped in glass!
My husband and son got stuck in the elevator. There were fights in the hotel, because the security just let everybody walk in and out of the hotel and there is a public bar in the lobby downstairs. When we complained to the general manager he even threatened us!
We've spend more than 15 holidays in Tunisia and never complained before, but Monastir Center was a very bad experience for us. We like to warn people who are thinking about choosing this hotel, that most of the hotels in Tunisia are way better and worth your money.

the hotel was clean, we went all inclusive , myself , daughter and husband, the only drinks we could have was rubbish beer wine or bouka, all rubbish, the drinks were, flat, the food was rubbish, unless u like egg i would suggest you not eat there, the food was cold, breakfast consist off boiled egg , scrambled egg or fried egg nothing else warm to go with egg unless u like cake and egg.
the only good part of this hotel is that it is clean, no entertainment or animation, ignorant men looking at you, evan though they see you are married, several arab men using rooms for the night to take prostitutes, back to el mouradi next time !!

The Monastir Centre Hotel is very convenient to everything. The beach, bus stop and the Medina are only a few metres away. The bus runs every 30 minutes and takes you to Sousse for only a few dinars (1.300d) There is also a Metro, a short walk which takes you to many destinations i.e. Sousse and Mehida. Bargain with them as they try it on big time. We were caught out on arriver and paid over £10.

We had half board during our stay and the food was good and very varied.

Hotel staff very courteous and helpful.

We were a bit disappointed mainly because of the weather as it was a bit cold and therefore we couldn't swim in the oudoor pool and although the brochure said there was a sauna it wasn't opened. It also said there was entertainment but obviously it meant only in high season as there was nothing on. They had a disco but it was mostly young Tunisians who went to it and wasn't suitable for the older person.

I would definitely recommend this hotel but go after March.

Just returned from a fortnight in the Monastir Centre Hotel in Monastir, Tunisia, 19th March 2011.

The hotel wasexcellent and we had breakfast and evening meal there, which was on a buffet type basis. The food was very good, varied and catered for everyone.

The staff were very courteous and helpful.

The only down thing of the holiday was that the weather was quite cold most days and there was no entertainment in the
hotel and very little around the area. I thought it would have been around the 17c and 20c's but it was much less until the day of our return when it was around 19c. As for the entertainment it was probably not profitable enough as there were very few guests, probably for being so early in the year and because of the recent rioting in the country.

I had a good time and if I ever come back to Tunisia again I would defintitely stay in the Monastir Centre.
