We had a very disappointing holiday at Monastir Centre, would strongly advise you to avoid it. It is set in a remote, run down area; the small town, the roads and the beaches are full of rubbish and falling down. The 'all inclusive' was very restrictive even to the point that if you wanted water you were given a really tiny plastic cup and in high temperatures that was far from enough. The food was OK, most of the dishes either did not look fresh to me or were not tasty, however there was enough choice and you did not stay hungry. The dessert was good (fruit and cakes). The pool is nice and is cleaned every day.
A big disappointment was the beach. It is a city hotel, so the beach across the street (half a mile)from hotel is extremely well attended by the locals and was covered with trash is absolutely not OK, as we were walking back from the beach to hotel my wife got mugged by 2 bandits on a motorbike and pushed to the ground in a busy street and everybody just looked on.
We reported it to the local police but they said it has been happening all the times even to the local people.Management of hotel are very unfriendly when I tried to make a complaint to the owner of hotel he looked down at me and walked away. The griddle at the pool is very dirty has been used to make pancakes and the chef's whites look if hasn't been washed for days.
I left this review till a later date to see if this place will get better but still read more bad reports about Monastir Center.
All in all I would not recommend Monastir Center.

The hotel is a 5 minutes’ walk from the beach, 10-15 minutes from the center of Monastir. The staff is very helpful. The rooms are large, with balcony, but with old furniture, no Wi-Fi, almost all the TV programs are in Arabic. The cleanness in the rooms is OK. The lobby of the hotel is small, but nice. The smoking prohibition is not respected, even from one member of the staff. The restaurant is not good. The opening times are not respected. In arriving the first day you receive a table that you cannot change. Very often there are no forks or spoons. The food is very bad and with a little choice. In summary the hotel quality corresponds to the cost.

The hotel is cheap and cheerful to what you pay, it is also very clean and basic the hotel. The food was good and had a few choices. The staff are so friendly and welcoming and they remember your name too, also Max and Sam are lovely people to who is the animation team, they kept you entertained through out the day! There is alot of trips you can do, which they are very cheap. There is a beach near the hotel which is small and fine.

The Hotel is ok for what you pay for, I ended up paying just as much as staying at home would cost me. My rooms air conditioning unit was defective (though I heard some of the units in the hotel work). The window of my room was broken too. I didnt want to change rooms since it wasnt too big of an issue. It really depends what vacation you want. If it needs to be ultra low-cost and you dont mind the animation music all day long this is for you. There is no nice(!) close by beach to speak of so chances are you will have to take a taxi to get to a nicer beach.

I recommend this hotel for teenagers or adults on a limited budget.
Prices are very reasonable once the Happy Hour is finished at 11pm. For couples or people trying to relax I highly recommend a different hotel! There is much better options for the money.

The only reason I have to give 3 out of 5 stars is the food quality and hygiene. I made the mistake of eating lots of Salad the first days and I got very sick. Im very used to food and dont even get sick in Asia. Other guests on my table had similar issues. If you skip the Salad and concentrate on Pizza and Noodles (or their choice of healthy food) you probably wont get sick at all. I recommend eating outside (plenty of good options) to give your immune system a break if you get sick too. It helped me a lot its also a good change, the food at the hotel repeats pretty much every 2nd day.
I have the feeling the hotel cannot supply fresh salad every day and salad is being reused if it hasnt been used on day 1. I found a maggot in the food once but I think that can happen everywhere.

Room Tip: Take a room away from the pool, make sure the A-C works, make sure the door locks, make sure the win...

I spent several nights with friends at the Monastir Center Hotel primarily due to it's location in central Monastir. I'm honestly not terribly impressed. The staff ranged from coolly polite to somewhat abrupt. The facility itself could use some upgrades. the air conditioning hardly worked at all making for very warm nights. The furnishings in the rooms and public areas could use upgrading. The mix of guests was fun - Swedes, Russians, Dutch, etc. The animation program staff were good and friendly. The beach in Monastir and the town itself are lovely. The food was ok - breakfasts could use some fresh fruit though. Dinners were good but not a lot of variety. I didn't find hotel staff to be very customer oriented. Probably wouldn't choose to stay there again.

Room Tip: Get one on the side that faces the sea - even if the rooms don't offer a great view due to an ab...

I had read some reviews (after booking the holiday) and thought we were in for a shocker! I was wrong. The hotel doesn't look too bad and is fairly clean, rooms are basic but then I wasn't looking for anything more comfortable than home. The food was ok, not a big selection but something for most tastes. Quality of food was average. The big plus here were the staff. Very courteous, very helpful and very friendly. The Animation team were always on hand to keep you entertained and were keen to see everyone having a good time. They get to know you by first name and you soon become friends. Max,Willy,Mario and Kimo, a big big thankyou to all four of you for making our holiday an enjoyable one.I would seriously consider going here again just to see you guys, the hotel was 2 stars but you guys deserve 10 stars.
Thanks boys, the hotel are lucky to have you :)
