“Could do better.”
Reviewed 14 June 2014

Having just returned from 7 nights all inclusive, have found the Alhambra a little disappointing.
The hotel and grounds were excellent, cleaning personnel were excellent, the downside was mealtimes and evening entertainment.
The meals were designed for German and French, every day was beef or chicken for lunch and dinner, not a good selection.
Evening entertainment was left to the on site employees, again catering for French and German languages.
Room was excellent (1408) but with limited tv channels.
Alcohol was a splash of spirit topped off with mixer, unless you tipped the barman which was then improved.
If you make your own entertainment and are teetotal, enjoy European food, then you will have a great time.

Stayed 11 nights from 31st may until the 11th June.
Food.... Ok, my other half struggled but was always something.
Room 1144...Lovely and big and our lovely maid kept it very clean .. Was a little noisy at times due to location but impressed overall excerpt for the pillows.
Drinks... Lousy not much more too add.
Entertainment ... Was great during the day but severely lacked in the evening.
Pools.... Really clean.
Staff... All really friendly and seemed pleased to see English guests...
Best bit... Being on holiday with my man and best friends xx much love xx
Worst bit.... Rude and unfriendly nationalities who seemed ignorant despite our efforts...

Have just returned from 11 nights at this hotel and to be honest I went with a open mind.We arrived early hours of the morning (2am) check in was quick and the staff were helpful.
On entering our room I wasn't disappointed large double bed with two single mattress beds on a raised platform which also doubles up as a sitting area.A spacious shower room and separate toilet. You also got a private terrace which becomes a high powered sun trap throughout the day for relaxing and drying your washing on the prefixed line available.Ok yeah there are little jobs that need doing but I have them as well at home.
Right now for the downsides to the room ....no fridge but I understand these can be hired at an extra costing,no full length mirror so the wife had to stand on a chair to make sure she looked good because she obviously didn't believe me.Oh and one of my biggest issues THE PILLOWS are as lumpy as you like...if you like sleeping with your head resting on bags of dried peas well you will be fine.We did have an issue with the air con packing up but once reported this was sorted within the hour.
So now we come to the complex itself..... Well laid out with numerous pools depending on what you are looking for.Ten minute walk to the beach which has sun beds available but a word of warning if you are planning a day there ...get bottled water to take before you go,even though the hotel has a bar at the beach this is not part of the all inclusive.Expect to be hassled numerous times by the staff trying to sell water sports..once you tell them no they tend to leave you alone.

Now down to the food ....I thought basically it was ok but does become repetitive but this is the same in any all inclusive.I never struggled to find something to eat and I would highly recommend the calamari and the liver was cooked spot on.On the down side they do need to accommodate for the English as all dishes to your exact taste if you like German and French dishes.
Well left the major downer till last ....DRINKS....the beer is very poor, spirits are such short measures that you might as well not bother but we realise that if you tipped alot the measures increased but I am not being tight but I don't go all inclusive then expect to pay for a proper drink.
All in all we had a great holiday because as far as I am concerned your holiday is what you make it and make the most of what you have.
Finally just a couple of tips for the first time travellers........
Don't jump in a cab outside the hotel ..walk up to the end of the road and flag one down they are cheaper ( 4 Dina's to the port and 8-10 Dina's to sousse ) .When shopping haggle your heart out and then walk away the price will plummet.
Only use the shop at the hotel in extreme emergencies as everything is a quarter of the price in the port.
Also if you are doing boat trips don't book these at the hotel go to the harbour in sousse and they are half the price.
The best time to hit the market at the madina in sousse is first thing in the morning about 9ish it's a lot less busy and a lot cooler.
Well hopefully this is of some help and to those who are yet to go on there holiday here ..enjoy it and if there is anything you need to know just ask and I will try my best to help ..

This place, apparently it used to be fancy and high quality. It is not like that anymore.
We loved the lay-out, with lovely courtyards and fountains. There is free wifi in the lobby. We also really liked our family room, which consisted of 2 rooms and a large private terrace. The beds were comfortable. The room didn't have any amenities though; no fridge or coffee making facilities or safety locker.
There is a very nice spa, be sure to use it, at least for a hammam treatment.
The reception desk is fine, the restaurant is not. The food was really very mediocre, the breakfast downright tasteless (every single item was tasteless, for instance rubbery pancakes and cheese that tastes like putty) and the service is really slow and badly organized. The waiters run hard enough, but don't have time to serve you or say a friendly word as they have to run up and down with glasses which they have to fetch every time from some remote place.

If you're into loud pool animation and dancing to the tunes of German Schlagers, The Chicken Dance and Modern Talking, this might just be the place for you. They do it every evening during dinner time, right next to the restaurant, you can't miss it (even if you wanted to)! During the daytime you can enjoy aquarobics and the likes at the main pool, with loud dance music lightening up your day.

If you're like us, you can try the quiet lap pool or the wonderful beach which is a little walk away (about half a mile). Make sure to get to the beach at the latest by 10 am as you will find all beds and umbrellas taken (with towels, mostly - not actually with people; they may show up during the day and stay for an hour) - typically one person will take up one umbrella, a couple will use two umbrellas. This is to give a tiny impression of your fellow guests at the hotel.

Anyway, it's cheap and it will do perfectly for a week in the sun.

Room Tip: There are nice modern rooms on top of the spa building, apparently they are the best.

Went here with my girlfriend and her family for 10 days from the 28th May to 8th June. The girls from our family were constantly getting harassed by the staff from the hotel especially from the barmen. On a couple of occasions complaints were made but no further action were taken against the individuals. Nearly all of the staff in the hotel are male, they all seem like as if they've never seen a female before, very pervy and touchy touchy. Examples of certain incidents are a barman putting ice down my girlfriends bra right in front of me, simple to say me and my family kicked off. One of our girls got chucked into a pool by the same barman and broke a nail, inappropriate comments were being made to girls not just from our family but other British girls that I spoke to whilst out there.
This majorly impacted our holiday as the girls were constantly angered by what was happening and it meant everybody was always on the edge. I once had a heated argument with one if the managers and he told me it was normal in Tunisia, I explained to him we wouldn't tolerate this behaviour in the UK and told him to bring his wife in front of me and let me do to her what his staff have been doing to our girls, in which case he got pretty angry. These people have no respect for girls, even the managers.
Other than all of this, the hotel is actually pretty nice. Food was ok but repetitive, rooms were ok and there were a lot of activities to do during the day. The spa facilities are very good and cheap. The hotel seems to be more tailored towards the german and French rather than English. Special thanks to Mimo ( animator) and Mohammed Ali ( waiter) who we thought were the only respectful guys in the whole hotel. Mimo is very funny and Mohammed Ali is very helpful.

Lovely hotel and very friendly and pleasant staff. We arrived and were quickly checked into our room, which we had booked a superior. First room we were given in the main part of the building was very dark even though very spacious with lots of unusual little rooms off the main room. No balcony or view which was the main reason for change. We checked back at reception and asked if there were any other rooms available. Receptionist took us to see 2 other rooms which were in the part of the building over the spa. They were completely different!! Bigger, brighter lovely views. Within 30 mins we had been moved to our new room. Excellent service.
Food was great, lots of choice and the waiters were so friendly and helpful. Pool area was lovely (even though too cold to swim in as it was February) Pizza and cake by the pool in the afternoon kept us going until dinner!! I would recommend this hotel to anyone but i would probably say not the best Winter destination. Easter or May is probably better as i would think in the main summer months it would be very busy and cramped.

Room Tip: Ask for a room in the spa wing, above the spa or further to the front is great.

We have just arrived home on Monday 26th after spending 2 weeks here ..... never again. Dont get me wrong the hotel is nice enough possibly a 3 * but no more.

Our room upon first inpection looked ok but the bed was like sleeping on the floor as it was so hard, bathroom was good but a bit wiffy from the drainage and this is suppose to be a superior room, we were lucky to have a fridge n a safe but we also realised that they had started to paint the walls then just left it half finished hmmm. Our cleaner was first class tho.

Everything is spread out there, such a big complex, maybe to big as the pools were scattered all over, beautiful indoor pool tho. The beach altho small was lovely.

Good food which makes a change and hot, dont get me wrong you still had the beef n rice dishes but there was also pasta, fish or chicken/ turkey and liver which was a suprise.
No organisation in the restaurant tho staff were everywhere instead of having their own sections which meant that you could wait to get a clean table and cutlery.
A la carte was deffo a no go, we were told that we had a choice of italian or tunisian WRONG only a set tunisian meal which although looked nice was fatty, greasy and inedible that night I went hungry.
Also felt sorry for young kids for a 24 hr all inclusive you had 3 set meals a day with nothing like you would expect in between these, no burgers or icecream or anything snackwise, never had this in all the places we have stayed before there was something at what ever time you wanted where we have stayed in previous places.

Right the service we recieved was disgraceful, we coudnt get a drink some evenings they would ignore you and make it obvious, we changed money at reception got it counted in front of us signed for it yet when arriving at our room we were short changed by the girl..

They really need to cater for all nationalities if they want people to start spending their holidays there, dont get me wrong Tunisia is beautiful but personally I would not ever go back there. ..

This hotel although is good in many areas really is lacking in what it needs the most and that is SERVICE to the people that have saved all year round for a holiday that becomes unforgettable for all the wrong reasons
