1/6/14 - 11/6/14
We went with low expectations and being both 26 we only wanted a clean bed & sun, both of which we got but not alot of anything else.
The staff were fine and perfect imo, reception staff were somewhat rude but rest of the facility was perfect, we tipped the waiter at tea time every day. Only 3 dinar which is just over £1 and he kept our table free, got us drinks before we sat down and put flowers on it for us unlike the other tables and genuinely looked after us the entire time we was there.
The food scenario, well if you live off salad and carrots then you're in luck. If not then ill break it down, breakfast consisted of scrambled eggs, hard boiled eggs, fried eggs, 2 variants of the same cereal, left over vegetable dishes for the night before and ofc the normal breaded goods.
Dinner was pretty much the same as tea dishes, turkey dish, chicken dish, grilled fish, vegetable dish, pasta & salad. If you're wanting variety then you're not getting it here. But most of all - don't expect any fruit at all other than water melon on an evening which is like gold dust. We had to resort to buying banana's from the vendors walking up and down the beach each day.
We stayed in a bungalow, room 71 and well it was horrid and no idea what the maid did each day other than I made the mistake of leaving some coins on my cabinet one day to which they vanished and in return we got 2 swans on the bed made from towels. Bathroom was just mold central, shower rail and shower was just laughable and hanging from the wall, the toilet seat broken, urine stains behind the toilet that never left the entire time we was there, dead beetles behind the toilet, i even had to wrestle a cockroach from the room but most of all, we had a a/c unit which we wasn't allowed the have the remote for because it wasn't hot enough. The hottest day was 36 degrees, the room has 1 window that no air got in and basically it was a huge sweat box but its ok because at least we had a small fridge we could put drinks in. Sleeping was just awful due to the heat, it might as well of been a pure sauna without the steam.
The site entertainment we didnt watch at all, but tbh it didnt start till about 9.30 at night anyway going by the noise and end till 11ish, so dont expect to sleep if your opposite the pools etc
The drinks aswell, you had to pay 1 dinar which is prob 40p for a bottle of water keeping in mind this was all inc, they gave you drinks in basically 250ml glasses regardless if pop or booze, so you're up every 2mins for a refill.
The gym is pathetic and tiny, and costs 10 dinar for 1 hour, its litually not even worth the effort of finding it, or even paying it. Just jump in the cold pool do some lengths and then body weighted exercises.
The shop onsite, tried short changing me 4 times in about 8 visits for pop and some snacks.
The TV we had as well was old skool, ie none flat screen. Something kids of today will be in awe of at how old fashioned they look. You have to pay for the remote but we didn't bother as there was only 2 channels in English, or should i say semi English. They were both movie channels so the films were English but adverts etc weren't. All the movies on both channels were cinema releases and popular DVDs i had already seen them all at some stage but they helped keep us sane at least.
Like normal also, get up early if you want a lounger, my advice is get on the beach, the poolside is like a heat trap with no wind and you have the entertainment sporadic throughout the day. The beach is nice enough but they had 1 guy man the bar there and if you wanted a drink prepare to wait 15mins or so for your tiny glass of pop/beer.
We didn't go out of resort as we did that before and got harassed to hell, on the beach though there was the odd jetski rep and quad but if you said no thank you they somehow remembered you said that for the remainder of your duration and left you alone and simply said hello every time they saw you.
There also was alot of german travellers which alot of were topless women.
Even with all the above, and prob some other stuff ive missed. I wouldnt say it was horrid but i certainly wouldn't recommend.
