“Great Improvements and More to Come”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 May 2013

We've stayed here every year for the last 15 years and we've just got back from this years trip. The hotel and the staff have always been fantastic. But wow! What a difference the new manager has made. Whole new buffet area in the main DIning Room, Fantastic extended choice of food at every meal. New theme restaurant now open at no extra cost for All Inclusive and only TD10 per person for half boarders. Choice of Tunisian, Asian or Italian menu depending on which night you go, with full silver service. New poolside buffet for All Inclusive people, new poolside and beach massage facilities all coming soon. This hotel is ideal for families, couples and singles of all ages and very safe. Great value for money.

Room Tip: Anywhere on the 3rd or 4th floor overlooking the pool is quiet with a good view.

this hotel is wonderful especially considering the price! me and my boyfriend both 18 are still here actually we are by far the youngest however we do not feel out of place at all. The staff are great feel like a princess the way they treat you. ask for a glass of wine theyll offer you a bottle which we gladly accepted the food is of good quality with plenty of choice. We are not fussy eaters but speaking to people in the hotel who consider themselfs to be all said there is always something to choose from. The entertainment is very nice fits nicely with the relaxing theme this holiday provides. location wise its not far from the beach with a little bus to take you to the private beach this is free but you are expected to tip. all over tunisia you are expected to tip even buying something from a store. You will get alot of people approach you saying they are your waiter just simple say well we shall see you later then as they are not employed at your hotel at all. Many will try to sell you things just be stern and they will leave you alone. The rooms at the hotel are spacious we got everything we asked for with a pool/seaside view high up. Overall we would recommend this hotel and holiday its very relaxing with plenty to do the weathers great and i cant get over how good this hotel or the service we receive is hats off to the employees.

Just come back from a 7 day stay at the kanta. First time visiting Tunisia and fell in love with it. The hotel has a lovely friendly atmosphere, the staff were very pleasant and friendly and the food was excellent, especially the sweet table-so much choice. Chefs were on hand to cook omellettes or pancakes at breakfast time and also there at night time to cook for you.Every day there was a different choice of food, they catered for all tastes, I am a very fussy eater but always found something delicious to eat every night. Good choice of salad and the soups were delicious, tried a different one each night. The entertainment was not very good hopefully that will improve as a new manager has been making further improvements. The rep told us they are planning to have a cafe bar in room off reception area, and the meeting room near restaurant is to be an al e carte restaurant. Will return again hopefully later this year.

Room Tip: pool view room gets sun in morning

I came back from my holiday at the Kanta hotel last Sunday. I booked with Thomas Cook, but could have done better direct or online.
The staff were nearly all great with one or two exceptions. The young lady at reception allways had a smile and was very helpfull. The waiters once they got to know you very kind and loved a laugh.
The food was not bad, but after a week was good to get back to my own cooking.

Not sure if I would return to Tunisia as I love Spain and found even in Egypt I did not get the constant pestering for money and tips.

I had a room on the 3rd floor overlooking the pool. Would have been better at the front of the hotel as the sun woke me up at 4.45 am and the room was so hot. Air conditioning is not turned on till June.

Room Tip: Higher rooms are best 6th floor is taken by Management. ( So I was told ) So 4th or 5th at front of...

Returned in Jan from 3rd consecutive Kanta Winter jolly, this time for 3mths inc Xmas/New yr gala evenings with my wife joining for two wks. As many folks agree a very clean & friendly hotel without being intrusive. The new manager/chef and team are making further efforts to improve on an already great standard imo. The food is varied, plentiful & of good quality with themed dinners. Soups/breads/pastries & desserts deserve a special mention and even on this long stay I still found all meals very enjoyable. As a winter trip o/d pools chilly but a superb heated i/d pool which we used daily with warm showers available. We have since (mar) been to Sharm 5star AI & although that complex was in a different league by size other features esp the food with 4 rest's was only marginally better, but desserts the Kanta wins hands down.(sweet tooth) The Kanta has spacious bedrooms/bathrooms(good plumbing?) with plenty of hot water. Free room safe, hair dryer, fridge,a/c, heating and "wi-fi" throughout is a real bonus. The Marina & Fountain square close by are very pleasant areas to mooch around and do whatever turns you on with the little s/m to right of M entrance providing the best value for your basics, drinks/ toiletries etc. OK the hotel evening entertainment is pretty dire imo but again wasn't much better in Sharm to be honest. Those planning a summer visit to any muslim country this yr should be mindful of Ramadan which falls 9/ 7>>>7/ 8 Ha! nobodies at there best whilst fasting dawn till dusk? esp in a HOT climate. For the adventurous some good trips can be taken. The kanta/Tunisia is quickly becoming my preferred Winter holiday destination and as some guests have said they feel like there "home" when walking thro' the main entrance, lol. An extra 2wk June trip is sadly postponed due to other issues but am looking forward to a further Winter visit after our own extended cold spell.brrr! In sumary a good overall package at a decent price & was able to wear shorts throughout my 3mth stay which for me is what it's all about in Nov>Jan. There is also good laundry & hairdressing available on site.

Just returned from the Kanta, had a week there. On the positive side, you could not find a cleaner hotel, and the service was prompt and efficient Pool and area spotless. Food was okay, but rather repetitive menu wise, but 2 restaurants are now opening, which should give one more variety.
Negatives were probably because we were 2 ladies on our own. One particular older, male receptionist constantly approached myself asking for various tips. He asked me to get him a bottle of vodka from the piano bar. On arrival he asked if my friend would bring him some perfume( she was arriving later). On seeing my I Pad,he was very inquisitive about that. I never felt my items in the safe would be secure with him around! I didn't check is name, but he's an older guy with spectacles on sometimes. Black rimmed!
We went to the marina, but the haggling was too awful. You felt you couldn't even look at anything.
I did enjoy my week away, but no,I wouldn't return to the Kanta, solely based on the attitude of a couple of staff. Majority staff were lovely, very helpful and friendly. We did enjoy bantering with the spa fellow, who'd walk around the pool, trying to persuade everyone o come for a treatment. Our waiter in dining room was great too.
