“Looking Back on Good Times”
Reviewed 3 June 2014

Decided to check out Kanta. Came here about 17 years ago and loved it. Came again about 13 years ago and loved it again after havin to leave a really bad hotel with our 3 year old son.
Had a ball then. He was 3 and they left him a birthday cake...lovely touch.
Remembered the staff who were there years before and they remembered us!
From most of the reviews all is still going well and we would love to go back there again. Loved reading all the positive reviews of a place that has such great memories for our family. we will be back some day!

Just got back from our 2 week holiday (18th May - 1st Jun), and our holiday was terrible!! Upon arrival we were greeted by the most unhelpful reception team I have ever seen, we were finally shown to our rooms, only to find that we didn't have a sea view( which we had paid extra for), we told reception of this issue and there response was that they were aware of the issue however our sea view rooms had yet to be cleaned and would be available at 10am the following morning, however at 2pm the next day the rooms still were not finished. The main bar is far too small and can only seat about 50 people, as all of the entertainment was shown here it proved impossible to ever find a seat! The bar is always busy and be prepared to queue for a drink ( we waited as long as 30 mins), the glasses are extremely small and by the time the froth on a beer has gone down you are left with about 1/4 of a pint. All of the bars are NON-SMOKING, however there is a café where you can smoke however you have to purchase your drinks (4 TND for a beer, a bottle) The entertainment starts at 9:30, so be prepared for a lot of being sat about bored waiting for something to start, all entertainment is finished by 10:30, so expect to be in bed by 11:30.. Come midnight, the hotel is completely silent and everyone is in bed due to boredom!! The beach was OK however it was very unclean (bottles, fag ends, dolls, sea weed etc).. The food is OK however it is very repetitive, the pool is OK however you will need to be up at 6am in order to secure a sun bed for the day, all drinks outside are served in small cheap plastic cups, and there are no spirits severed outside. On the Thursday I was ill and at about 1am woke up and needed a drink, so I went down to reception to ask for a bottle of water, and was told this was impossible to get as the bar shut at midnight, after spending 30 mins pleading with the man for a bottle of water, I decided to give up and get a glass from the machine, however there were no glasses or cups in sight!!

Overall this holiday was very disappointing considering this hotel is supposed to be a 4 star, I would never return to this hotel, as the lack of service is terrible.

Room Tip: Choose a room in another hotel!!

We first stayed at this hotel about 10 years ago. We stayed again for a week in May 2014. Nothing about the building had changed. Being built about 20 years ago it was now looking tired but found it to be very clean.
The first day the staff seemed rather unhappy but generally they were helpfull and the waiters jolly.
Food , whilst slightly repetative salads ,was acceptable and the Whole baked Tuna fantastic.
Facilities and the beach were again of a good standard
Overall the all inclusive holiday was good for the price we paid.

just returned from 11 day stay at this hotel good points and bad good food is acceptable if a little boring, coffee is the worst ive ever had. rooms a little tired but clean beds comfortable food boring but well prepared severe lack of daytime and late evening snacks no alcoholic drinks around pool bar except beer and wine, drinks served in small plastic beakers beer served in 1/4 pint beakers no waiter service ie q and collect yourself tip if you want seating in main bar for evening have early evening meal sitting. tip the sun bed man around 15 dinari and he will reserve your sun beds for you each morning. beach activities good value, and we found safe other people said kamel ride not up to much but paracending ,quad bikes and sofa behind speed boat al very good, take your own photos theirs is expensive. in house /hotel photographer a pest and poor quality photos. hotel cleanliness inside and outside was good.hotel entertainment was fine although early evening meal sitting req for seating however everything does stop at 11pm overall its an okay hotel not exceptional a little more effort with regard to a little less cost cutting by the hotel and waiter service would improve this hotel 10 fold

Room Tip: sea view with balcony

Just returned from a lovely weeks holiday staying here, (24th May - 31st May) The hotel was lovely and clean all the staff were very friendly and happy to help with any request you wanted. Food, drinks, bedroom and facilities were all great. Was also lovely to be able to have your own beach roped off for you.

Plenty of activities going on throughout the day/night for everyone to get involved in if you want to.
The animation team that provided these and the entertainment were brilliant and made our holiday very enjoyable.

We would definitely return to this hotel and resort again.

We've not reviewed a holiday before, so this is a first for us. Marhaba Palace was a second choice for us, but we hoped it would be OK. Decor in the main public part of the hotel is reasonable, but we found our bedroom on second floor above the nightclub (not open!)overlooking the car park pretty average and the bathroom quite basic. Weather was cool and extremely windy, with 2 or 3 thunder storms during the evening - we believe this was unusual for that time of year (May 18-25 2014) but you can't control the weather!

Queuing for drinks in the main bar (only allowed on just one corner of the bar) was a pain, as was only being allowed one drink per person at a time! American Bar much better and more friendly, with proper sized glasses in use! Provision of drinks was pretty limited - cocktails were restricted to a Screwdriver or a Tom Collins, both of which were just a shot of alcohol with a mixer juice. Drinks in the pool and beach bars came in small blue plastic tumblers, rarely filled to the top.

Food was our biggest disappointment - we opted for second sitting 8-9.30pm by which time we found most of the food not hot enough. Not a great deal of taste or flavour or spice - pretty bland in general. And if you lingered over your meal, waiters were busy taking food away and clearing tables away around you. Snacks during the afternoon in the main bar were pretty minimal, and not replenished as supplies went down. We found best value was in the beach bar at lunchtimes.

The noise from the building works on the Green Park Hotel next door started at 10am till 4pm. And despite being told on the morning we were leaving for the airport for the flight out to Tunisia by the travel agents that they had just been told about the works and had to offer us alternative accommodation, we weren't really given much option or time so stayed with our choice of the Marhaba Palace. We were also told by guests at the hotel that these works had been going on for 2 years!

All in all this holiday was not what we had wished for, especially as it was the second most expensive in the brochure - we will not be returning.

Room Tip: Despite asking for a higher floor room on booking, we didn't get one, so not sure if there is an...

This hotel has a very good reception team and also housekeepers, they cannot do enough for you, how ever the waiters in the restaurant and the pool staff are best described as leeches, all they want is money off you EVERY day, if not, you do not get the service you would expect.
The food was good but the bar was slow and you only get smaller than half pints in beer.
This is best described as full board with drink as an additive, as after evening meal has finished there is nothing to eat apart from a few sandwiches that are put out.
The bar starts shutting down at 23.30.
The rooms are comfortable, but there are no tea/coffee making facilities, also there are no irons in the hotel.
The night club is still closed, so the entertainment is VERY limited.
Not a place for the under 50s who are active.
Would I go again?, no and only because there is nothing to do at night, it is just too quiet

Room Tip: No tea/coffee equipment No irons
